Well, at its heart, the M5 is a BMW 5-series, which, indeed, is a family car.

But it's a family car in the same vein as a Lancer Evo... Just... with much more style (in my opinion, of course).

And in any case, it's certainly toned down compared to FM3. So even if it is overdone at parts, it's still a big improvement over previous Forza games.
 
The pavement in that pic looks damp although I could be wrong since it is pretty sunny. It just looks like there are 2 strips where it appears to pavement starting to dry.
 
The metallic roads seem to go away in different time of day tracks, so i think its just the time they chose that causes massive exposure on the roads.
 
metal roads would suck. You'd never get any traction...or not much. And if there was a break in the road, it'd be "goodbye tires."
 
Except that in FM4 you don't have to ignore Xbox-era graphics to make the comparison.

....and the fact that most of the trackside scenery is missing or incorrect.

I just saw the video of Seca and the elevation changes seem very off. The corkscrew look nothing compared to GT5, where as you can't see the bottom it looks like your going down a cliff.
 
You tube Laguna Seca and there's an onboard cam in an open wheeler at the corkscrew. Seems the same to me.

Oh take GT to the appropriate thread too.
