Can somebody explain me why the FM vs GT thread is still allowed? The people who dislike Forza should just not look or post in this forum. They even slip into this thread with strange assumptions.

The "vs" thread will go on and on and on without any acceptable result. Just a place for frustrated people who want to rant about Forza and people who are biased from whatever source they got.

He's saying that a true "race car driver" would have put more focus on the actual racing in the game rather than focusing on every minute detail of graphics. Instead its a digital car collecting game that happens to have fantastic physics.

The two of you make it sound like Dan and Kazunori are, respectively, the only sources of influence for their series... When you, Shouden, even remarked that T10 get experienced people to give them feedback on the game. So I really don't get that point.

Also, as I said in the FM vs. GT thread: I don't see the touch of a race car driver in GT5.

If being a race driver is what lead Kazunori to the various design decisions in GT5, for the love of god, strap Dan to a chair and make sure he never, ever goes near a race track.

If you read all Forza threads carefully,Forza fans doing the same in nearly every thread,just vs. GT.
And no,im not GT no Forza fan - im playing games,not titles,and im are racing game fan - but i find GT threads more friendly,without Forza threads (and fans) arrogance and typical bashing of other game in nearly every post.
Here you cant have opinion,especially say anything against Forza - you will get some "answers",and some even in different shrift :D,you will be accused of "fanboyism" and biased opinions.
Frustrated?Why somebody should be frustrated?Unless you 15y old who doing typical x360 vs. PS3 falmewar,why there should be any frustration because of some console software,aka game????
Im visiting this site many years,and tbh Forza section have way more childish behaviour (even official Forza site forums doesnt have that)
Im looking for information about F4,but i constantly finding same people (who from they posts look like they can make better sim than GT ;) ) time and time again talking BS all over the place about GT (seems they in wrong thread and more interested in GT that Forza LOL)

OT - any chance we can see F4 demo soon?

No but they represent the games. And I always see Dan with an pad in his hands, turning on the autodriver... I wonder if he ever play FM himself... That was more my "problem"...

He is the PR guy, it's his job to show off features, and most new features so far are related to Kinect and other visual improvements, hence the way he presents it.

He isn't like Kaz who is a spiritual symbol of the franchise.....Forza is a team work and product of a group's vision with community feedback. How good he is at driving, how hardcore a sim-racer he is has minimal weight on how the game will turn out.

The idea that you have to good at the subject matter to make a good game is stupid, when the main job of a head developer is to manage time and resources, while still having a feel on the product. Of course he needs to be passionate about the project, but being passionate has very little to do with how good someone drives or whether one can afford to race professionally.

You don't doubt Jeremy Clarkson's passion in cars, but is he a very good driver? Hardly.

That's a piss poor argument right there, Clarkson is actually a very good driver and no I'm not basing it on watching him on Top Gear. Nick Mason would probably be a better example, he loves cars but would definitely be lost behind the wheel of a race car on a track.

I don't see that as a problem, though... I mean, I don't really care who's representing the game and in what way. Looking at the Under the Hood articles, he seems to be regularily getting into some in-depth details you wouldn't expect from someone who's only turning on the autodriver. So, he at least knows his game. Whether he's good at it or not, does that matter?

I mean, you wouldn't discredit an automotive engineer for not being a race driver, would you?

Let me ask you, though, when was the last time we've read or heard some clear communication from PD and Kazunori? That, too, goes into the whole 'representing' the game thing, as far as I am concerned. And PD isn't very good at that, it seems.

Anyways, on topic:
Is there anything known about when the big update to the FM.net site's car section is supposed to be available?

I want some more car reveals :indiff:

Clarkson is hardly a good driver, he isn't anywhere near even an amateur racing driver, you can find a lot people faster then him on a well organised track day.

imo a very good driver is someone at least like Tiff Needel, and for Tiff as far as being a racing driver goes is not championship material beyond regional level. There are still many better drivers on top.

In such scale Clarkson'd driving ability is hardly worth mentioning.

But that's my scale.

The guy made the game, you really think he should be playing at a conference? His goal at a conference will be to promote and give the community an informative and professional insight to the new game.

To me its blatantly obvious why he would rather demonstrate the game without playing, taking his mind off things.

I agree, there is no need for them to play the game, their job is to give us details and informations, not driving lessons. And I am sure they play F4 all the free time they have, checking things etc.

Did Dan said in the one of the last interview that they played TG soccer!?

One a side note, that is definitely a thing that is missing from all racing games I played. Except iRacing of course, but it's not really a game, more a sport club. And no, GT's license tests don't count, they don't teach you anything.

A series of interactive lessons would be cool, but iRacing-like videos would still be a nice start.

Yes that would be great, because there are different techniques to go through the same corner.

Dan doing presentations and putting it on autodriver means nothing more than him trying to give his full focus and attention towards the audience. Nothing more. The real question should be if PD ever played their own game because if they did they'd have seen many of the issues, especially the grind, the problem with standard 'UCD' cars for career events, etc etc. But that topic is for the vs thread, not this one.

Im sure Jeremy is a better driver than you think. Just think about it. The guy gets to drive a huge amount of supercars and he gets to drive them hard. He may not be a world class race car driver but im sure the guy can hold his own and he is most likely better than either one of us at this very moment.
 
Ever seen any of his own personal DVD specials? The man can drive and drive fast. Sure he just does powerslides going POWWWEEEEEERRRRR on Top Gear but is that a real reflection of someones skill? Hells no.

And as for Tiff, he's raced in many international series, regional at best my arse.
 
Wait... Jezza does more than powersliding while saying 'POOOOWWWWEEEEERRRRR'??? I never knew!! :P

I think he can drive from his experience but I have read he's not the best driver. Probably better than I could ever be though.

Tiff is the man btw. HE'S the driver I'd want doing my times on a track.
 
There have been a few examples of clarkson's ineptitude behind the wheel. One where he couldn't drive the Elise s2 because pinning it into corners and shouting POWAARGH only caused massive understeer, another where he couldn't get the JAG diesel s-type under ten minutes at the ring, it's probably a high 8-low 9 car in the hands of a decent driver.

He's good, but not very in the grand scheme of things. Much like Dan his main strength is his talk rather than his walk, his enthusiasm and communication. That's what makes top gear great and forza also. Not being a race driver probably puts Dan in a far better, more neutral position than someone like kaz to make a racing game.

But as has been mentioned we shouldn't speak of Dan and kaz in the same terms really, they do not share parallel positions in their respective projects.

Well, that, we don't really know. It's safe to assume that their overall positions within the two competing companies are different. But in the end, we don't know.

Edit : What we do know is that we get to see Mr. Greenawalt pretty often doing PR at various events, whereas Mr. Yamauchi is seen much less frequently doing so.

Your totally wrong. That car is much slower. Remember he also had to deal with traffic. Jag diesel S-type 0-60 in 8.1sec. :yuck: Im sure the handling isnt any better.

The S-Type managed a 9:12 time by Sabine Schmitz who happens to be one of the best drivers round the Ring in the world. Clarkson has hardly ever driven there. On the occasions Clarkson has raced his lap times have been decent, in the Britcar 24hr race he was notiably faster and more consistent than Hammond and May and he was comparalbe to the other team in their class who had competed at Silverstone several times before. It's probably fair to say that he's not great compared to professional race car drivers, but he is good compared to anyone else.

As for Tiff, he was a very good driver and has competed internationally and at many major events like Le Mans. He wasn't good enough to compete in Formula 1 when he got his chance, but thats it. He has had a good number of race wins in various Touring and Sports Car championships thorughout his career.

You know what's funny, when reading stuff and having background info that others may not have and then wondering what other stuff I've read where I haven't got the background info. Now Sabine Schmitz I know of because and I know that she actually does some type of tour on the Ring I think pretty much every week or something to that effect. Also she either lives nearby or has a spot near by the ring. So to her the Ring is about as familiar as your ride to the grocery store. She probably takes part of the Ring to get to the grocery store.
 
The S-Type from 2002 on was a fine handling car as well. Mike Cross' input into that torpid Lincoln chassis transformed it well enough that the 2004 update still underpins the XF.
 
Suzuka Circuit looks very good! Thats quite a makeover. Some pics show spectators and some dont. I wonder if that depends on the amount of cars on the track. Maybe with 16 players, the stands will be empty. With 8 the stands are full. Just a guess.
