And this is why I thought the idea of implementing a simple, laid back form of confirmation could help you out. It doesn't have to be something big and formal, it can be as simple as just keeping note of who says they aren't showing up. Those who cant show up will have their guaranteed spots passed off to the next eligible driver who can make themselves available. We all understand that being in top 12 of the club leaderboard for a rival event doesn't mean that you can or that you want to take part in a race on a particular Saturday afternoon. Passing on guaranteed spots to others who as a result may be more likely to stay home and show up, could help to encourage a slight increase in the number of racers you host each week. It certainly wouldn't hurt the numbers. If anything, the idea of being left to drive anything called "the loaner" takes care of that for you.

jks
I still don't see how making members confirm whether they are going to race or not is going to make more people show up.

If anything I think less will show up. We don't even have 16 members online (at the same time) most of the time Allot of members may look at it as an added hassle.
Why haven't you been racing the last couple weeks? Would a confirmation system made you show up?
Another problem imo is where this thread is located. I have inquired about this section being moved to the FM4 sub-forums but I got no response from Jordan. At the moment though i'm not sure if that would even help since it seems activity on the entire site has died down a bit since it was soft-launched.
As far as "The Loaner" goes, that is what it is. The name is just meant to be funny. It has been getting used. If I didn't put that car there we would have even less participants because some members wouldn't have a car to use if they didn't have a chance to buy and upgrade a car in time to race.
The best idea I have to share at the moment is the need for the members list to be purged, so we can get a better idea of how much people actually have the intention of playing the game online, other than participating in rivals mode. It would even help if we had a better idea of everyone's skill level. Maybe I'm missing something, but I wouldn't mind seeing more activity going on in game and on this forum to suggest that we actually have over 80 active members. It's important that we understand who we need to organize different events for, in order to get everyone interested involved.
Purging the list how? I think that's easier said than done and once again I don't think that's going to fix our problem. We already know mostly who is active and who is not for the most part. We just need a few (4-6) more. It's just getting the best time for everyone. I'm in the US and we also have allot of members that are over seas. Some members just have other responsibilities to attend to at the time of the race and some are simply playing other games that have just released (BF3 & GOW3).
We have a good turn out for qualifying but that's because it's not a strict schedule.
Do you really think a 15 laps race is better than i.e. two 7 laps races?I think the last laps just spread us.
I liked the special event because non tuned car are more realistic in my opinion,i never know if the tuned car races are won by the best tuner or the best racer (as in gt5)
7 laps is only 3 more than what we run on all of our other races which makes "the big race" less significant imo. The 15 lap race with the Supras last week went really well and we had a pass for the lead with one lap to go and we also had 3 separate battles going on on the last lap. Also I led the first half of that race and im not a tuner. I didn't use any tuning at all. I just carefully selected what parts I wanted.
The Astons were more spread out because of the type of car it was (more difficult to drive fast consistently) and also because we didn't have a big turn-out. If we had 5-7 more cars on track that would have created more wheel to wheel racing and filled those gaps we had.
I probably won't use that type of car for our race again for awhile or at least not until we get more people racing. I will stick to lower class cars that are easier to drive for everyone.
