Frequently Used Standards to be Upgrade to Premium Models?

Dudes, seriously, how can nobody mention the Diablo and the 2 Countach?!
I want the Diablo, it's awesome (and a stock version too pls :D)
However I don't believe 'til I see it happen...

Probably the 'newer' standard cars would be upgraded first, that is, (standard) cars that made their debut in GTPSP or GT5. For example:
  • Jaguar XFR '10
  • Bugatti Veyron 16.4'09
  • Mazda Furai Concept '08
  • Lamborghini Countach (LP400 and 25th anniversary models)
  • etc...

The FGT being standard doesn't even make sense, it's their car, they can make it look like whatever they wanted, it could be like the tardis and have a massive inside if they really wanted to, they don't need to visit a car dealership and take mm by mm measurements.

They were lazy. It's imported and upscaled from GT4.

The Volvo 240GLT Estate is all we need!! :sly:
Before making it Premium they had better take off the extra 550 kg on the front axle. It's amazing how they can get a car so wrong in two areas - weight and weight distribution. Oddly enough the mass on the rear axle is around 660 kg which is very close to what the real deal has. I know from experience that the redblock engine is heavy but not THAT heavy...

I can't believe anyone has said this yet:

RUF CTR Yellowbird!

That car alone being converted to premium would make me 50% more happy with the game!

Kaz said in a really old interview that standard cars would be made premium. But...has not happened yet and his wording seemed to imply it wasn't gonna take years as it has to even get ANY upgrades.

So in other words PD's word is as good as nothing to me, as it should be to you people. They constantly are uninformative about deadlines and upgrades and whatever else.

Love GT as a game series. The support for it however is like trying to wrestle a snake in the dark. Elusive and if you ever do get it you're not sure if you'll get bit or strangled first.

Most of their upgrades seem to be track patches so no one can "cheat" and meanwhile I have another however many megabytes burned away forever for no real reason, rather than promised upgrades like premiums and enduro saves. Only useful upgrade I've ever seen out of these guys was the one for helmets and suits. And that's a flashy gimmick when it comes down to it, so it doesn't count for much. Compared to everything else they've "upgraded" though it's about the only thing worth installing.

I'll believe anything PD says when it's between my fingers. Although I do think they'll upgrade cars out of desperation to keep us from switching over to Forza (which is the new official sponsor of ALMS--this game is going to be huge). If they don't do something to compete, I can't say they don't deserve what happens to their revenue.

After finishing forza 3 and nearly gt5. There's definitely something for PD to worry about if turn 10 pull out amazing physics for there next release.

i think i remember kaz saying it took them up to 6 months creating some of the premium cars

i definitely dont expect all 830 - some - odd standards to be premiums, **** by the time they pull that off GT6 could be out

Not to mention a majority of standard cars are redundant duplicates. 20-40 of rx7 / skyline / miata / silvia / lancers and all the differences are rims or a couple horsepower, would be a waste of time.

but i think making the most used standards premium is a great idea. I would say:

Formula gt
veyron
supra rz
zonda c12/c12s/7.3

basically the heavy-hitter cars. the ones people want. you should be able to complete GT5 using only premium models, and set the standards aside for collecting

I will bet you that we will have no premium Rufs... we will have premium Porsches instead... EAs exclusive contract with Porsche ends next year.

For those of you that want some proof...

That article written December 2010.

This is actually the one I read, and thought "cool" until I checked the date and saw it has been nearly a year without so much as a peep about car upgrades.

Again I think the only thing driving them to upgrade will be Forza 4 release. They need to respond to the competition.

Jai
It will just be Veyrons, LM cars etc.

Personally, I think the least used cars should get the treatment.

In that case, expect nothing but unwanted standard cars in the 10,000-50,000 cr. price range to be premium.

XFR should get first cut, since it's not in PSP or GT4 and yet it a standard. Also, the facelift is rather gorgeous... plenty of potential there.

Personally, I think there should be at least 1 Premium from all car companies in the game.. or the vast majority (the likes of Spyker, Ruf and Delorean don't have any premium models to their name, for example).

A Premium Daihatsu Midget II D-Type and I'm happy.

But, really. If they made all cars premium, since it would probably be in the form of an update, how much space would that end up taking up on the PS3's harddrive? GT5 already takes up about 8-10GB when you have most things installed, adding all the detail of 800+ cars would probably mean people would have to get a PS3 harddrive with 100GB free at least, right?

I completely disagree with this.
If every other dev announced future features while they are working on them instead of well after they have got involved on the project or what have you like most other devs do, it would seem like forever.
They actually inform us too much if you ask me. Because 1. the reason I just pointed out and 2. people would start getting upset when theres not a steady flow of news
Which is what we see daily on this site

Where does it actually say all standard cars will be upgraded ?????

I would love it if the renault avantime went premium. Love that car a lot. Only because it was on top gear. And I drive it quite a lot on gt5. I would love it even more if all the cars went premium. Only if there was one version of it like the clk, and not the 30 mx5.

Haha. They will probably bring out an update saying 150 cars have been moved to premium consisting of mx5, nsx and rx7's :P

Realistically, it'll be whatever cars that they can get hold of. I don't think PD choose to avoid any cars, it's just whatever the manufacturers let them borrow to photograph, sample and drive.
That's why there's always been so many cars from Japanese manufacturers in the series. And unfortunately, it's not just a case of up-scaling the standard models, they would probably need a real life car to work from.

I dont know why i got feeling that pd will upgrade all cars to premium .

I don't know why but I've got the feeling that simply won't happen, mainly because it's frankly impossible to do during GT5's lifespan and because they'll perhaps logically reserve a lot of Premium cars for GT6 so if we get some at all they won't be coming in massive numbers, maybe a select few to keep interest going (it isn't a simple upgrade, they have to start again from scratch).
Another thing you have to consider is that a lot of Standard cars won't be remodelled as Premium even for future GT's.
Given the amount of time and resources they take to build they have to prioritize and select their, well, selection much more careful and perhaps remove the 'redundant' cars.

Ofcourse that's subjective but I can't see them spending months modelling for example the utterly forgettable (in my opinion ofcourse) first gen Citroën C5 (which was current and therefor perhaps somewhat relevant in 2004, if only to please Citroën) when the current (and much more interesting) C5 is almost halfway its production lifespan.
And do we really need a Premium Opel/Vauxhall Vectra V6 when they could add its successor, the Insignia VXR/OPC instead?

So we'll probably be getting some classic/iconic cars which can be carried over into GT6, etc. whilst for the rest they probably return to the same procedure of selection they did when developing GT4 but obviously in todays context which means some Standard cars will, more or less automatically, return as Premium whilst for others GT5 will be their, arguably dishonourable, swansong.

I wouldnt be amaxed if PD already has all the data they need to proceed to make cars into premium, only future will tell if we get some cars upgraded or not.
I do hope there would be some everyday cars and ofcourse, classics upgraded.
Every manufacturer deserves atleast 1 premium car.
Realisticly thinking they might focus on making GT6 with full premium arsenal as they now have all other stuff done so they can focus mainly on cars and tracks.

I think that only a small part of standards will get upgraded to premium (as long as Kaz and PD don`t lower the level of detail on premium cars).

Lets say GT6 released in 2014. There would be hundreds of possible premium cars which were released from 2008 to 2014.

I think that we will get some standard classics (Ford GT40, Yellowbird, 50s/60s vehicles) and prototypes (group c cars, LMP1) as premium, but not more.

There are and will be enough cars which can be added till GT6 releases.

Race Cars: Audi R18, Peugeot 908, 2010/11/12/13 Super GT field, some DTM cars, maybe a F1 car
Road cars: A premium Zonda street car, Ferrari 599 GTO, the 2012 Nissan GT-R and Corvette ZR1, the new 3 series BMW which will get released by that time, maybe some classic cars (E30 BMW, Ferrari 308 GTB) and up to date versions of other (japanese) every day vehicles (Civic, Integra, Prius).

Too many to count.
Doubt that PD will use up alot of man time to add old cars which we all have seen and used alot of times.

Well, After a little depuration There are around 670 unique Standards cars, from those I'd choose the next(Bolded ones for GT5, the rest for GT6):
