! That is great :)

Britain has never been great..

Come on, Britain's pretty cool. Just think of all the great cars that came from it: Aston Martin, Bentley, TVR, Lotus, Jensen, Austin Healey, Triumph, etc.

In before "Where are they now?"

Britain had a thriving car industry. Then came British Leyland...

Can't forget McLaren..

The British car industry used to be the best in the world, now it has all died out.

I know, one thing I want to do when I go to university is to find some old British sports car and make it my daily driver.

Thanks Chavs, for putting the 'Great' in 'Great Britain isn't as Great as it used to be'

Reminds me of my letter to the UK border agency. Something about how people keep insisting on labelling this sinking ship "great" britain.

Apart from our multi-millon pound world-leading motorsports industry. Yeah, our automotive industry SUCKS!

Car manufacturing =/= Motorsports.

We were crap at building cars and our car manufacturing industry is pretty weak; anything mainstream we make is either foreign or foreign owned.

Is it just me, or are most pictures in a 'motivational poster' style much funnier without some lame caption explaining what anyone with an IQ above 12 could see?

Alex.

Unless it's something actually clever I agree.

I also agree. But it's easier to find them on Demotivational than finding them as photographed, not on Demotivational.

We aren't particularly good at making affordable, everyday cars now though. Places like Japan are brilliant at it. The only major British Manufacturer that still does is Vauxhall, and those are just rebadged Opels.

Car manufacturing is below motorsport manufacturing/engineering in complexity.

Starting a british car manufacturer would almost be taking a step backwards. People complain that we no longer smelt our own steel, when smelting steel is a fairly low-tech industry - we replaced smelters with high-precision metalworking (CNC, CNC programing, precision casting/forging).

We export our high-complexity know-how across the globe, where other low-skilled workers follow the A-B-C instructions in basic assembly jobs at lower cost.

Same for the cotton/textiles industry. Britain is brilliant at small volume, high cost, high-complexity tasks.

In fact, most Vauxhalls are made on the continent and 80% of cars produced at Vauxhall in the UK are actually Opels, made for export.

Imakuni: I never stated we were not good at motorsports technology, I simply reaffirmed the notion that Britain was rubbish at making commercial vehicles and what it produces now is either not British or foreign owned.

Back to the funny.
