Yep Quailfy is at 4:00pm GMT 11:00am EST. I have no idea how I am going to compete I am no where near the 1:56.xxx second mark it will be a tough race. But I have never had an easy race at Suzuka.

* Edit * - The final chicane. 2 wheels must remain on the race track at all times , I hope this is observed in the race tomorrow as it will be an advantage to just straightline it? And will this rule be enforced ?

That picture shows a clean run. The rumbles are part of the track. Assuming you are on the same page. The green at the end of the rumbles is not track, so the inside tires have to be back over tarmac (or the white tarmac boundary line) by that point. Believe me in the WRS we have to review this stuff *all* the time and the rules are very specific.

EDK
Standard Clean OLR Rules:

  • 2 wheels on (or vertically in line with) the track at all times
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • Runoff areas are not part of the track

Coolers. It is tough to work out where we all stand at the moment . 👍
It's gonna be a tough 35 laps that's for sure lol.

* Yup WRP * I couldn't find a better picture from the internet , was just looking for clarification & to make sure we all follow the rules & save Gamesta alot of hours watching replays lol.

Yes, That is very close to ok although the Yellowhat Supra in the photo if on any consecutive lap was that far on the rumble strip would most likely get a penalty.

+1 👍

If zoomed in on you can see 2 wheels over the astroturf , I couldn't find a better illustration but it has served its purpose.

That's fine because it's your series and you make the rules. 👍 But standard GTPlanet OLR rules say that's clean even if you do it every lap of the race. This thread in the WRS has lots of examples of clean vs dirty shots... not Gamesta standard, but OLR standard:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=222543

e.g:

Clean:

Dirty:

Woodone Advan Clarion GTR
would like to join if theres still room but cant make this weeks race

Interesting examples WRP. I can't say that i'm personally comfortable with drivers that far over the line and cutting the astroturf etc , & the OLR also says - " Track specific boundaries will be clarified in the Race Specifics section of any given event.... " I have seen other racing series on the internet that don't allow anything but 2 wheels remaining on the circuit through the corners , ( I.E - one side of the serrated kerbs & at all times not entering the white line that defines the kerbing from the track itself . Anything else is labelled " dirty " . ) But every series is different I guess , ( You will never see real life LMS race cars take those lines at that track btw ... )

Onboard at Le Mans for an example - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9f-1869sGzQ

Additionally , if we do use this interpretation of the OLR rules it will change my laptime from 1.57.9xx to something like 1.55.9xx , as there would be quite a few corners I could just " cut " like that & gain from.

I've got a better handle on Suzuka, but still slower than the rest of the group. If I'm lucky (can't really call it skill) I might get a 1:58, but average is closer to 2:00-2:01.

Suzuka is a great track & the race will be good today i'm sure. I know drivers that couldn't even do a 2.10. xxx on this track with these regulations so I think you're doing just fine. 👍

Today will be all about having fun & keeping the car on track . I think that by the end of this series you will be several seconds faster per lap than when you started.

I'm looking forward to seeing it. Have a good race today & I will see you on track. :)

yeah I agree with you..This is a very very difficult track to really attack the corners...Theres a general mix of high-low speed corners so tuning the car is a pain in the backside....It is an achievement to finish this race let alone finish on the podium...In my series last week I had 12 racers at the beginning of the race and only 9 finishes...Staying out of trouble and driving sensibly is key...

Hope you all have a good race..👍

@WRP
The pic's you have shown as clean line's i personally still think are dirty line's to take, all 4 wheels are off the track they are using runoff area, in my opinion u shud still have at lest 50% of the car on the track to be called a clean line.

Suzuka in every series I have runhas been a difficult race although it will be a lot of fun to see what happens. The Room will be open for Free Practice in about 35mins

Fyi... Those pics were made and labelled clean by a GTPlanet super admin (EDK) not me. They are the rules for the official time trial of GTPlanet- GTP_WRS.

But Gamesta sets the rules here so I abide by what he says when I drive in his series. As TJ said every series is free to set it's own regs. Gamesta made it clear he wants two tires inside the white line, but not half of the car.

Free Practice Room is now Open in My Lounge Qualification starts in 1 Hour at 11:00am EST 4:00pm GMT

I'll be in the room in about 30 minutes.

Really good racing today guys very little in the way of incidents apart from some driver errors. I will have the Totals for the points up within the next couple of days I look forward to Laguna Seca in a week hopefully I can keep up with the front runners there but I have a feeling this course lends it self to the SC430's.

Yeah was fast paced & fun , no deliberate bad moves that I saw , just racing incidents & mistakes .

I think 4th place was achieveable for me today , spinning 4 times or so didn't help but that was the same for most of us.....

Hmmm , I like this SC430 statement , I hope to be competitive at Laguna once again & try to bring in some more points. :)

Great racing everyone . 👍

Lapped twice by I think 6 people. I seriously need help at Laguna to be competitive even with the lower races.

Agree 100%. Start was clean... a little aggression, but nothing over the top which is fine. I actually finished the first lap on the track without a major error, but that didn't last long. I had 3 offs in the next 3 laps and 6-7 throughout the race. Had some close racing with both TJ and Terrible and both drivers drive clean. During most of those battles I'd drive myself off track after 2-3 laps of back and forth passing, but only because I was a dunce and not due to the other driver. Lesson learned: Next week I practice in the draft before the race. All I did this week was practice quali and even with that a 1'56.243 wasn't good enough for the front row so I might as well practice for the race itself. 👍

I'm in different car but same team if you want you can practice with me & TJ if he doesn't mind ( i'm sure he won't ), i'll send you friend request:tup:

Thanks man , you're clean and damn quick too.... 👍 Was fun with the wheel to wheel racing , next time I plan to do the whole race distance without a pirouhette , myself and Dragon both made the same spin at the same time on turn 1 whilst racing hard . We didn't touch , just had the same accident lol. In an earlier incident we did make contact but I waited and let him through as I deemed it to be my mistake , these things happen sometimes .....

@Hamster , add my PSN and i'll take you through some lines and techniques this week.

Gamestaa- you sure kept me on my toes when I went to lap you...I saw you go into a wild spin on the backstraight and had to tip toe my way past...For the next 5 laps or so you were in my draft and I was just conserving my tyres so I wasnt sure if you were gonna pass me back so I had to step on it but I still couldnt shake you off...thanks for staying clean 👍

I had an awesome time racing...Qualifying was pretty frustrating as I was just 0.07 seconds off Dragons time...I think everyone got off to a pretty good start...I had a bit of a scare on lap 4 turn 1 and lap. 34 spoon curve...I was very close to spinning out...My tyres were absolutely shredded after 9 laps on the first stint so I had to nurse the tyres for 3 whole laps which cut the gap between me and Hydro by 6 seconds...

See ya guys at the Corkscrew :D

Yeah, it was fun driving with you Killa for those five laps, I was hoping I could stay in your draft and make up some positions but I caught the grass again and spun out.

Thanks man , you're clean and damn quick too....
Unfortunately I'm fast only when I have a gap between me and other cars. When someone is on my bumper or I'm following close I drive terrible, not dirty, but mistake prone. Lack of racing experience I guess. If I can improve in that area this season I'll consider it a success for me.

Doesn't help that it's early AM on Sunday and I have fog in my head for most of the race... gotta have some excuse  Seriously though I think I drive better in the afternoon or evening, but I like this series enough to get up at 7:00 AM for it. 👍

I had a good race today:) was going well for the first couple of laps until i started making mistakes, only 1 lap behind this time:lol:

Yeah I noticed that . In clean air you were super slippy. In the races we're doing as a group , i'm noticing everyones strengths and weaknesses. I relish putting pressure on the guy in front to make a mistake , one of my key strengths . In my weakness box I would tick prone to making mistakes during the end of a long race , that's the best time to wear me down.

I woke up late today also , an hour before quali as I had a very late night , which became even later as I was defending this thread from a grumpy troll...

Long story for those who didn't get the chance to read it.......

@ Ohno , you did great mate , just 2 places behind me and you were running right behind me at the start. Great drive. 👍

That was a great race guys 👍
I was pretty much alone for most of the race following lap 8-9 or so, but everything I saw I liked.

@Terrible - GREAT running with you for the first 1/3 of the race.
Amazingly tight, and clean. Well done 👍
Looking forward to that kind of racing every week.

@ Killa - Do you ever mess up a lap? :D
That was really impressive today.
By lap 8-9 you had a 9 second lead, but down to ~5 by your pitstop.
My in / out laps kind of sucked, and you are obviously VERY comfortable on cold tires, so you were up 11 seconds following my pit / out lap.
After that, it seemed you were pacing yourself, as we stayed close with respect to lap times, but you still maintained a big lead.
Once through lapped traffic, you had me by 16-20 or so, and I just drove carefully to the end.
Great Win! It's going to be a mission (impossible )to catch you. :( - for me anyway!

Suz is a tricky, unforgiving little B**ch in any race situation, so seeing 3+ drivers in close racing for what looked like a lot of laps, is amazing.
I haven't seen the replay yet, so I'm just going from what I saw in the map, and I saw 3 triangles on top of each other, almost everytime I looked up 👍

@Hamster - I'm in the Arta NSX, but I ran my Raybrig tune today, so if you want we can run some sessions together for Laguna, and see if we can trade off ideas. Everyone is of course welcome to join..
I setup today to be safe, but not crazy fast. Best Quali lap was about 1'57.7 or something. In practice I was getting almost a full second better on a slightly "twitchy - er" setup, but sometimes losing a second is worth it if it makes for a really consistent car.

Edit - We are posting too fast

I find that braking early, when I'm the trailing car not only makes for safe racing, but you get to tighten back up to the car in front as you go through the turn.
Once you slowed to cornering speed, just slip right back in behind the lead car. I don't think I've ever lost position on the car in front by braking early.
It definitely takes a bit of practice to judge properly though, but just a slight touch of the brake pedal will be enough to give a small gap that will make sure the move works. 👍

Fog on the brain....
I hear you.
I am NOT a morning person :(
I'm also not racing at 8am ;)

i had an awful first 15 laps, mistake after mistake, i don't usually make that many mistakes even at suzuka, didn't have my morning coffee haha. recovered somewhat but i feel i should of been up with killa at the end if i would of had a race like i normally do. hope i avoided everyone with my mistakes as much as possible and good luck at laguna everybody, one of my top favorite tracks
