if its possible can i switch my car to the denso sc430? the denso feels a lot better to me.

i think you can. I believe the only driver using that car in the field is TJ right now so there should be an open spot for it.

An update from me. I am currently driving the Takata Dome NSX. Best time yet is 2.20. Will fool around a bit with the setup/tuning and hook up my wheel later on. Only that will shave of a few seconds, but 2.14 is a bit ambitious for me.

By the way, when is the race scheduled for?
And one more question, why aren't the Supra's available?

Edit: Current best time is 2.16, that was after some practice, tuning and tweaking. Still have to try with my wheel though, so maybe 2.14 is not so ambitious after all.

going to add u in about 10 mins for some practice

Thanks to those who came out the practice. Unfortunately early in the session I got stuck at my sons soccer practice and really didn't get to drive until 8:00 PM Pacific. Fun to run with those of you who stuck around (until almost midnight)... hopefully it was useful. We got to run some practice races late in the session which was fun.

Dragon was fast as always, my best lap was consistent with my prior practice (2'14.1)... still looking for a few more tenths so I can keep up, but as long as I can keep consistently in the low/mid 2'14s I can still keep up as the draft is pretty strong. One slip though and it'll be hard to make up the time losing 3-4 tenths a lap. Question: To be consistent or to be fast? Answer: To be both. :sly:

Based on the testing:

  • Draft passing after Eau Rouge through Raidillion and Kemmel is pretty effective as you can get quite a pull if you exit turn 1 well and get back in the proper line well before braking. Too early and re-passes are possible under braking.
  • Turn 1 is way more difficult than it appears and it's easy to lose traction or even spin. If you plan to tag along with a faster driver you better practice this corner and get it down. I can see myself facing the inside wall a few times if I'm pushing too hard.
  • Draft passing on the wide open section after Stavelot is a lot harder unless you just get a terrific run from the previous corner. The high speed curves on this section create a natural blocking line from the front driver and you have to setup wide to take Blanchimont at full speed. Unless you have a good run it may be better to stay close behind until just before the braking zone for the final chicane. Lapped traffic is best to give the outside to a lead lap car here and then tuck in behind. But be careful to brake early for the chicane with the draft influence or you'll punt the lead lap car.
  • The pits are *nasty*. Entry is very tight and hidden. If you don't practice it before the race you may end up missing it or getting stuck in the entry if you do find it.
  • Pit exit is also terrible. I practiced and I still can't consistently stay inside the white line... if I turn the wheel enough to exit on throttle inside there's a good chance for a spin and if I don't turn enough I get spit way across the track. We may need a ruling from Gamesta on this one. My personally feeling is we should waive the crossing white line restriction for this race on exit *if* the coast is clear, but penalties should apply if you let yourself drift way outside AND interfere with another driver exiting turn 1. If the track is clear I think we should just be able to exit normally and not have to dive back to the right while being *ejected* by the AI and risk a spin. If traffic is oncoming you have to basically stay off throttle partially/completely on ejection and turn in to the right before accelerating away down the straight. Gamesta -- any ideas? Please test the exit yourself (if you haven't already) and give us your recommendation/ruling.

TJ -- enyaw1985 joined the practice yesterday using his Eneos Lexus SC430 which is frankly a handicapped car. Since he doesn't have points yet in the series I recommended he switch to the Denso SARD SC430 (he doesn't like the NSXs). I don't know if he decided to take my advice and/or contacted you, but hoping you could share setup info with him (via PM or whatever). He was running 1'19 yesterday after fulling braking in the Eneos and would be nice to get him up in to the 1'17 range which may be possible without that Eneos handicap. He's using a DS3 so not sure if your setup would work for that controller.

enyaw -- you could also try the praiano tune for the Denso. I use his tune for my Calsonic and they are pretty solid. Not the very fastest / loosest possible, but a good compromise of speed and stability so good for race conditions (for me): https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=5416668#post5416668 The DS3 drivers I know like different tweaks to their tunes so this may or may not work for you.

awaiting any penalties from last week:bowdown:

Hit him hard Gamesta! We need a closer championship. Let's see... 4 points per mile over the speed limit should do it. :sly:

Just kidding of course if it's not obvious.

races are sundays with practice starting at 10am est for 1 hour then half hour qualifying then we race, check op for schedule and all that other good stuff.

good lap times so far btw

Oh please don't bring up the Supra thing again OR better yet save it for race day and berate Gamesta about it during the race.

I found this little utility which will show a race countdown timer... helps somewhat figuring out the time of the race for each driver... especially the day before:

Spa race starts in
img.php

See this thread to build your own. Maybe change the op every week with the time of the latest event.

2'16 isn't bad if you can keep very consistent. Don't get me wrong, it's not going to win the race, but you won't get lapped and maybe if a few up front push too hard and make mistakes or blow their tires you'll move up the grid.

No problem WRP . He hasn't contacted me yet , but if he does ask for help I have no problem in sharing my tune with a fellow racer & teamie . 👍

On the DS3 my tune is approximately 1 second slower , but can be tweaked and balanced to give it more stability via LSD etc ...

So Enyaw , just hit me up if you would like to try it buddy . 👍
This is a great little car , it will be good to see another Denso on the grid on Sunday. :)

Pit exit is also terrible. I practiced and I still can't consistently stay inside the white line...

Additionally , i'm not having this issue on the DS3 or DFGT ..... Is it just me?

Hydro had no problem with pit exit in my lounge either so I'm a :dunce:.

Just no or very little throttle until car is straighten which is a moment after release. Still wouldn't mind a slight altering of rule to require half car inside line, but not so worried now.

Ran a ten lapper last night and tire wear was rough. Good luck to the brave soul(s) who try for one stop.

Ran 2'13.9xx but ate tires fast. Eau rouge is pretty easy solo but I found much more under steer following another car... Maybe just reduced visibility and thus bad timing.

For a big track it's tricky to pass.

For the Pit Exit if you don't hit any one on the way out you will not get a penalty here at Spa it is very hard to speed here. Also for on lap drivers please stay left until after the pit lines to avoid any collisions.

Here are the penalties and results for last week

Nepallii Enter and Exit -25 Points
DragonGT83 Enter -20 points

Remember everyone we are back on regular schedule tomorrow and the timer in the OP seems to not be taking that into account. So don't trust the timer to determine the race start at Spa Tomorrow.

I'm progressive on pit exit & just match my steering response to my drivers hands through the tight turn.
Tyre wear for 10 laps sounds about right .
Late 13's might turn to 12's in Gamestas lounge too .
Yup , but it's great fun trying the overtake though .

Thanks for the table update Gamesta . 👍

Yes, I caught my mistake and edited my post above earlier today I will post an updated table when I have chance a little later on.

Maybe a couple other mistakes... How do I end up with 50 points when 3rd worth 60? And why is TJ at 38 instead of 40?

Thanks for all the hard work you put in Gamesta and looking forward to tomorrow.

Holy Cow I totally missed that thanks WRP I will have it all fixed for tonight.

Hey gamestaa...Im gonna rustle up a calender and a points table which should make things easier for us all...I have a series myself and I know its tough work going through replays and doing the points etc...Appreciate all the things you do to keep this series running as smooth as possible...👍

Thanks KK

Here is the updated Points table.

I missed that lol .

Thanks to Gamesta also for a professionally run series .

I've browsed through other race series in GTP in the past & this one is the best .
Also , add me as an automatic entrant for series 4 . I like this place . :)👍

I wish I could race with you guys next season. Most likely it'll be over the winter so won't be able to commit every weekend. If there is an open grid spot I may request to join every other week (or so) in whatever car happens to be free, but will watch from a distance if you are full. I'll be back for season 5 if there is one.

But this season is only half over and a lot of racing left. 👍 Looking forward to Spa of course, but La Sarthe after that and the return of KK to the series. I've never raced in a time change event. Raced at night and at night in the rain, but never in a time change scenario. How does that work? Does it cycle through 24 hours during the course of the race?
