That is simply amaizing WRP!!!

I don't mind filling it out for the rest of the season if you want. Just publish the penalties numbers on the thread and I can update the spreadsheet and send the new link. If we want a static image each week after your review race it's easy enough to create a static screen shot and put that in your image cache for the thread just like you do now.

If we are going to use it though we have to reconcile the slight differences I have in points compared to your numbers through Round 5.

For drivers here are the differences I see

  • Brettcee I have with 44 points and you have with 42
  • Hamster1984 I have with 22 points and you have with 21
  • Ekke I have with 18 points and you have with 32

Otherwise we are identical on drivers. These could be penalties I missed or typos on either of our parts.

On the teams we are off a bit more, but let's fix drivers first which should help and then the rest is probably because of drivers swapping around and I can just fix my spreadsheet. I assume for example that Hydro's points before switching from the NSX went to team Lexus Honda. Is that correct? And drivers that dropped out of the series still have their points go to the appropriate team of the car they drove (except for Remy_K it looks like)?

If we just cross checked the rows in Raw Results with your data we should be good. In particular making sure the penalties match your records and that I assign the correct Team to each row of points. I have a flag in there to exclude a driver completely from either team or driver totals so those just needs to be updated once in Lookups.

Cool WRP, I will look at my notes and see where there maybe mistakes.
Thanks I really appreciate all the help as it's like having a second job keeping this all together sometimes LOL

Thanks for the top notch videos WRP. Looks like you guys at the front had quite a battle for the lead. 👍

I've got a question: Is the Eneos SC430 actually disadvantaged compared to the other 2008 SC430s? It has the same specs and is the same model year. It should be exactly the same. Is there a similar reason as to why nobody is using the Woodone GT-R either, despite it having the same specs as the Calsonic, Yellowhat and Xanavi Nismo? The Motul GT-R is different as well (weight and power), for no apparent reason.

Anyway, are we going to have a group practice session this week? I'd be up for a group practice on Thursday evening; I'll be practicing that day anyway.

Actually the Cars are all different. Although minor is some comparisions, the Woodon Advan is the worst of them all. After fully breaking each in(500 miles) the Woodon is at the same power and weight of the others, but for some odd reason it is still 6pp under each. All have max aero and same miles but it just doesn't perform like the others. I am working on testing the SC430s and then the NSX SuperGT cars.

That is simply amaizing WRP!!!

I have finally decided on a Prize Structure for this season.

Drivers Championship
1st Choice of Premium Super GT
2nd Choice of Premium Super GT
3rd Choice of Premium Super GT

Team Championship
1st Choice of 250,000cr Premium Car
2nd Random Car
3rd Random Car

Anyways everyone will be getting a prize if you partipated in 4 or more races within the season. If you did not participate in 4 or more you will not recieve the prize.

EDIT:Also the Review is 50% complete and so far so good will have the results by tomorrow Evening

Very nice pics there Gamesta , highlighting some good battles that we all had . 👍
Great idea for the prizes & looking forward to seeing your review . :)

Thanks to WRP as well for the videos he makes too . 👍

Dragon
....with circuit de la sarthe. alot of places people can cut and gain alot of time. please be sure to keep it where the track is, at least two tires where the track is suppose to be. can see people using runoff easily and whatnot. i've posted times in the 3.56 range, think I got alot i could make up.
Couldn't agree with this more . 👍
I ran a 3.59 yesterday with my usual baseline testing routine . More time to come yep , although we are looking at NSX and GTR territory here . :)👍
WRP
Hamster1984 I have with 22 points and you have with 21
Did Hamster leave the series ? He hasn't raced or posted since just before Indy . Probably irrelevant but just thought I would mention it . 👍

yes some of the cars do perform differently, like you mentioned the motul autech i'm using is 30kg heavier then the others. without being able to move that weight to the rear of the car i am like 2 tenths of my times if i were driving in the other gtrs at 1100kg. same goes for the other super gt cars they all are different here and there. In general what I've noticed is the lexus's have the slowest straightaway speed but the best cornering capability, nsx's have the fastest straightaway speep but worst cornering capability and i'd say the gtrs are in the middle.

Like mentioned a long time ago, if we implemented the success ballest system(weight penalties) they use in real life, it would even the field out cars and drivers. its actually easy to maintain as when you set the weight regulations you set it for the heaviest driver, example hes at 1160 now with weight penalties. then you proceed on entering the track down to 1100kg.
only podium finishers get weight added, like in my friends league not associated with GTP, he does 1st. 60 2nd 40 3rd 20. and when a driver finishes outside the podium, he gets to take 20kg of any weight penalties he may have off for the next weeks race. Keeping it in increments of 10 makes it easier to regulate as a host. hoping gamesta decides to use this system for his next season as it would definitely tighten the field up no matter what car people are using with the current specs.

Sounds like it would be taxing to implement, with many cars entering the track one by one. Though if it works in your other series, who am I to say otherwise.

I'm not completely against weight penalties, but I don't like how, as a midfield runner, I could find myself finishing higher up not on my own merit, but solely because the top runners have been slowed down. But I see the benefits of weight penalties as well, mainly closer racing throughout the field. I guess I'm more or less indifferent to the issue. I guess we'll see if Gamesta implements such a system.

Sounds like a very noteworthy endeavor. 👍
I'm curious about how all the SuperGT GT500 cars compare to each other, so please let me know about your results.

The reason the Woodone advan is slower is because of the tires they're using...They're using Advan tires (i think) and the rest of the GTR's are using Bridgestone tires...I think this is the same for the Eunos lexus being slower than the other Lexus's...
About the Motul Autech, in the 2008 season the regulations gave the Epson NSX and the Autech 30kg because they would have an advantage otherwise...

The extra weight from the NSX is from the mid-engine layout. While the Motul's extra weight is from Motul being such a large company and having so much more $$$ to throw around.

this system is used in real life, its not meant to be used to slow faster drivers down but to slow faster "cars" down that may have an advantage over others. super gt series isn't the only series that uses this system. actually quite a bit of different gt series use it. Its actually pretty easy to implement as long as everyone is paying attention in the lobby when its their turn to enter the track.

Warning: Another WRP crazy idea...

It would be kind of fun to have a series where the drivers have to adjust to a different car every week. The list of cars is fixed and drivers pick new after every event with the last place finisher picking first and the first place finisher picking last. New drivers get the crumbs until after their first race. That would certainly throw a wrench into things. If the difference in skill is high enough to still allow the fast guys to win with the least preferred cars then there isn't much more you can do is there!

That or just allow 3 of each car instead of 2 so nobody gets stuck with one of the less desirable options. I personally wouldn't care if all 16 drivers were using the same Calsonic GT-R... just too bad we can't change numbers on the car to identify on replay and pics.

I'm not into that idea so much . I think I saw a similar series proposed in Interest Checks a while ago .
If you think about it , in order to be competitive you will be forever grinding cars each week just to get to the Bhp limit etc .

Interesting idea , but not my scene i'm afraid . 👍

I don't know how quickly Gamesta would start the next season, but maybe we could try it between seasons? Tracks we don't usually drive with regular, non-race cars could be interesting.

I am also not 100% on when I start Season 4 I want to get thru Season 3 first lol.

I have been trying to see the best and easiest way to implement a way to include ballast. Easy for me to police and actually make a differance on the track, so far that is leaning towards tires ie. 1-3 will recieve Hards for the next race the rest of the field will recieve Mediums if you come in last more than twice in a row you will get the options to use Softs. But as I said this is an idea and may not be implemented next season. I love the idea of a weight ballast as Dragon stated and others as well it used in various types of GT racing but seems like a lot of extra work just to police it with this group it would be fairly easy to accomplish but maybe time consuming.

I have reviewed spa and have decided to not issue any penalties it was very well run race and we all should be proud of that one. I will get the points up as soon as I get all the points calculated from week 1 to make sure all errors get corrected.

Hit me up if anyone wants to do some practice...

doesn't take too much extra time to implement, like 5 mins maybe if everyone's on par with whats going on, only thing is that in real life they don't qualify with weight but in our situation we should if we do that to save time and agony of setting grid up and whatnot after qualis.

Never been to fond of the tire thing, for me its a HUGE difference in times between compounds, like 2 seconds at most places where as weight is more steady on working it out. also heard that there is a tire glitch where people can make it as if it looks like they're on racing hards in a replay but they're actually on softs(think it only works with no tire restrictions). but they'd do the same with getting to mediums but looks like they have hards.

Yay to no penalties fellas:tup: Just shows how well everyone has gotten with racing each other. Remember for le mans that you shouldn't be trying to overdrive the first turn at all otherwise everyone in front of you is going into the sand or having to cut the track from a big bump, just be patient with the start or any lap for that matter as there is a lot of straightaways to follow.

I think I can fill in spot 16 Sunday. I'll run the Raybrig or Woodone if allowed. Thanks.

Another successful test session completed , still registering 3.59's though . It might be good for top 5 / 6 perhaps . I think the pack will probably split into 3 in the early stages & obviously the slipstream effect is crucial here .

Tried a nighttime pit entry & it's very easy to be caught napping here . Always anticipate the entry line & don't cross it until you've slowed down to 100 . 👍

Also , this ^^ X1000 . Racing in a pack here can cause huge problems if somebody misses their braking point or forgets to compensate for the turn 1 tow . Your aero is very much active by this point so you need to brake earlier than you think on the first lap . 👍

Interesting lap times...Have you maxed out your Aero?

I agree, If you're going to fast to slow down to 100mph in time then I suggest completing the lap rather than entering at speeds>100mph which will result in picking up penalties...

Hows Team Nissan been doing in their practice sessions?

Hows Team Nissan been doing in their practice sessions?

I ran a little practice on Tuesday, but nothing since and probably won't get to practice much today either. If I'm in my lounge tonight I'll be running La Sarthe, but I've got some other stuff to do. I probably won't get to do more until late Friday or Saturday.

PS> This is a really boring place to practice after the "Spa experience". It'll be a fun race with drafting etc, but running around solo is monotonous after about 3-4 laps.

A 3.59.6xx with a maxxed aero package yep . 👍 Although haven't confirmed my final settings for the track yet .

Just baseline testing on the DS3 for quickness at the minute . 1 more big test then I should be ready . Still got a little fine tuning to do with LSD etc.

I sometimes find that the DFGT improves the laptime by around 1 second , but it won't be enough to hold on the GTR's & / Or NSX's on Sunday.

What sort of times have you been laying down KK ?

If I were to venture a guess KK is around 3'53-3'54.

I'm fairly certain this car won't do anything close to that .
I'll enjoy taking in the sights & battling with my teamies in that case.

Were you guys practising on the time/weather change version of the track or just the normal 2009 version?

My fastest was a 3:52:1xx

And nice time by the way . :)

The time/weather version. I'm a "few" seconds off your pace. Although I ran my best lap at night and I saw plenty of places to gain time so not all is lost quite yet. :sly:

Im estimating that pole time will be low 3:51 high 3:50's...Tire wear's a 🤬 by the way....I've lasted 12 laps with softs before.....wonder how long mediums will last....How long till Sunday!!!! :banghead:

my le mans setup can go 10 laps easy:tup: just need to make it quicker and keep my tire wear.

Oh man, I'm only at 4:03, of course I only did 4 laps. This is a lonely track when your by yourself and at night.
