Haha, awesome! Nice stuff there. I used to use Gmod, but enventually got bored after a while because it was so slow at loading. Here's some of my stuff. The models are ones that i downloaded from facepunchstudios.com, not models from the original game.

Nah, Garry won't sell out like that. GMod will always be free I'm pretty sure. If he makes it so you have to pay for it, it's popularity will go downhill hard. The only people that will really use it then are people that make online comics and such using GMod.

Ah well, it's only $10. If i decide GMod9 is too crappy compared to 10, I'll see if the provider accepts payments via snail-mail. Still...that sucks that Valve offered him a Source Engine License deal that requires us to pay. *sigh*

Edit: Check this out. I got the cinematic mod which improves EVERY texture in the game by...oh I would say 95%. It's AWESOME but eats up your system in loading. Im running full settings at only 1024x768 and it takes 5 minutes to load a level on a 2.2 GHz, 512MB RAM, Nvidia 6800XT 256 MB rig.


Very high-res pictures in Black Mesa East (you can read the newspaper articles on the Seven Hour War like real life if you zoom in on it).

How is multiplayer with Gmod now? I played this on a LAN with two others about a year ago and it really sucked.

You need at least 1GB of RAM and a 6800XT or higher with 256MB of video memory or you WILL have to put your settings on medium or low. Loading times are a b****.

GMod multiplayer is OK as long as you find a server with 2-3 people. too many people makes hellacious lag. Garry needs to improve the networking commands and such I think. It's not too efficient right now.

As I said, it replaces every texture in the game with new high res ones.

Each texture is 2048x2048, and it's every texture in HL2, so, yeah.

Wow that really makes the game look cool. I haven't played HL2 in ages, so can't comment on how different it is with the mod, but it sure was good fun playing through Highway 17 again and it did look prettier than before.

I saw a web page a long time ago with Garrys mods. I thought it would be soo fun to try out but I never had the time to check into it. Some of the pics were hilarious and some werent GTP safe. I laughed soo hard at some of the stuff people came up with.

Yeah. The RolePlaying, as nerdy as it may sound, is really fun if you play with the right people. Especially maps like rp_cscdesert and rp_hometown1999

Oy! I knew the system I just set up was still a bit dated but yikes! Good thing I'm converting to AM2/SLI in October.
