Hey what the crap?!!

I just saw a vid of Shift 2 on Youtube where the driver was crossing his hands over to turn the wheel 180 degs!

This DOES NOT happen in the console version.

THANK YOU Microsoft!

Not Microsoft, SMS.

Also, if you use a controller, the 900 degree animation won't happen. If you use a wheel, it will.

What?!! The animated wheel... turns MORE if you're using a gaming wheel? That's just retarded! Is it because the game disables speed sensitive steering? Still wierd..

Does the same happen in FM4 and 5? I.e. the animated wheel turns more if you're using a wheel?

Controller users getting the short end as usual.. it's almost as if the devs have formed a secret pact with wheel manufacturers so more gamers would use a wheel instead!

I don't know anything about how Turn 10 does steering wheel animations. But in the Gran Turismo example 5 & 6 example, the wheel only turns 180 degrees whether a DS3 or wheel is used.

As far as the use of a controller, get yourself a wheel, and you'll have so much of a better time when playing a racing game than with a controller.

Besides, it's just a graphic animation...

What I've seen of Forza it's the same case as Gran Turismo with the steering wheel animations.

Interesting. This helps explain the glitch the PS4 version of Project CARS suffered from at E3.

I suggest trying Shift 2 with a wheel. Doesn't feel as "floaty" but takes a while to get use to, fun to cruise on. The hand animation looks good too, I once spent a good 15 minutes slowly going from lock to with the wheel just to see the animation.
It's easy to see why hand animations only work with the wheel. Ever played LFS with either a keyboard or a controller?

Yeah, the hand animation looks absolutely 🤬! But with a wheel it looks much nicer.

@sparkytooth, @Azure Flare I have never ever seen any 180 deg wheel animation in Forza or GT with a wheel, ever! It stops just short of 90 degs. That's the max it goes whether you use a wheel or controller. Correct me if I'm wrong. GT5's wheel animation does not go past 90 degs, did we both play different games? Forza's is also pretty numb, even in 5: doesn't go past 90 degs.

There must be some confusion here.

@Just1nn_ The animation I saw on YouTube did look very nice, reminded me of PCARS. I will probably not get a wheel, as there is little space in my room and I cannot move my rig to a different one just to have a wheel. I've barely saved enough for an X1/PS4, wheel's out of the question! *sniff sob*

Seems like quite a specific rant actually. There's an easy fix: stop paying any attention to anything to do with Shift 2. You seem to have a really weird fixation on it though. Like you hate it, but can't quite let it go.

Sometimes relationships just don't work out.

You're getting confused with the degree of rotation.

If it goes from here...

to the same angle steering right, then that is 180 degrees.

Ohh.. yeah?? I thought dem' guys meant one way. Okie dokie, appreciate you clearing it up!

And it still stinks! Wheel and gear shift animation is a vital element of bringing together the cockpit view.

Hahaha! I don't hate S2, neither do I have to let it go, since I'm not holding on to it. It does a few things well, and steering wheel animation is one of them. Admittedly, it doesn't offer the same level of satisfaction as Forza or GRID, but it has its strengths.

There, a little perspective for ya. ;)

Did you tell youtube about this? They have a right to know.

Shadduph! :grumpy:
