What could the customization refer to?

I'm guessing there wont be any upgrades available for cars like the Bugatti Veyron (apart from tyres and rims).

Why not ? Bugatti still has to comply to noise and emission standards, so there is potential left for more power. You could raise the boost pressure, optimize fuel&air mixture, install a high-flow air filter, change the exhaust, remove the cats...

Don't forget the 1001 hp V16 engine was also build for durability under all circumstances, no need for that in a game so that figure could easily go upwards to, what, 1400/1500 hp? Or more realistically perhaps 1200.
Couple that with a significant weight loss and it might even be fun to drive.:D

If im not mistaken the Escodu had about 900hp before slapping on the ubercharger turbo that gave it around 1800 or so? Pulling wheelies at over 1000 km/h. hehe. happy times!:)

Like in forza, as in swaps from other vehicles? It's very unlikely.

If and when they do bring that feature to GT5, I can only hope that it does not compare to Forza 3's system.

If so, I could imagine some jack-wagon figuring out an exploit.👎

GT5 could take some lessons from Kaido on the PS2....
Number plate editor, extensive choice of aero parts, muffler tips, even different wheels on front/back

So you consider a livery editor "fluff", but use one of the riciest, Fast-and-Furious-looking possible games as an example of what you think GT should aim for?

Who cares about the livery, I'm pointing out the canards, scoops, vents, angle pipes or whatever muffler you want, wing and mounting types

jump to about 3:00 onwards for a taste

I remember Tokyo Highway Battle for the original PlayStation. The body parts and kits you could put on there were great. I remember getting the GTR R34 to 390kmh on the parts of the bridges! I'm hoping that GT5 will have some sort of body modding. We know they at least have carbon fiber hoods, and GT4 had wings you could add. Hoping all body panels can be replaced with at least cabon fiber ones. Maybe even wider panels for the fenders? Race conversion is what piques my interest the most so far though.

Yeah all those racing games made by Genki like Shutokou Battle, Kaido Battle, and Racing Battle C1 Grand Prix have really good customization.

That's applying a bit of a double standard, to say who cares about liveries and then saying it should offer other ( mostly visual ) customization simply because you yourself prefer it.
Some people care as much for the ability to add a livery to their car as you apparantly care for adding scoops and vents.
Not saying both rule each other out ( as both could be possible at the same time ) but plenty really care for a livery editor, luckily most don't simply assume just because they like or dislike a feature everybody else doesn't or shouldn't.

GT: One guy adds a set of OZ rims and a rear wing to a red Miata. Another guy adds the same rims and wing to his red Miata. The cars look identical.

FM: One guy adds a set of OZ rims and rear wing to a red Miata. Another guy adds the same rims and wing to his red Miata. The difference is the first car has a Coca-Cola race livery and the other car has a Budweiser livery.

If the importance of making a car truly yours, especially online, doesn't register with you, then you're quite special.

There is a good chance GT5 will have a decal system, like Tourist trophy, that's all that is needed

Some sponsor stickers and that's all I need. The cars in Shift (modded PC version) with the upgrades and different colours without the livery, look great and I've had 16 car races where every car was different

I don't care so much for a livery editor, although it would be nice to make simple decals to identify racing crews etc.

I'm more towards the stance of the car; hence will making changes to the height of the car make any visual impact to the vehicle? Will changing the value of the camber effect the angle of the wheel, will we be able to choose specific offset for the aftermarket wheels we fit on, or the width of the wheel itself... It's just another way to put you apart from the rest.

Here's a example;

Well this could already be done in GT4 and previous GT versions ( changing the ride height/camber angle also having a visual impact ) so I expect GT5 won't be any different.
The wheels being fully customizable would be new to the series.

Look mum, I'm in the Viper which is 5mm lower than everyone else.

👍

The whole visual customization is ridiculous and something for 12 year old Forza fanboys and Need for Speed idiots. Are you people 12 year old Forza fanboys and Need for Speed idiots? I don't hope so, otherwise the multiplayer will really suck.

Would like to see part swaps though for the sake of being able to properly recreate classic touring cars. Always bugged me about earlier GT games that something was never right, like the weight, the engine type, the HP count or some other thing. I wouldn't even mind different looks as long as it drives like the original.

You can't really be that ignorant.
