What could the customization refer to?

Behind the name of the car it says " 19INCH WHEEL OPTION ", do you guys think we will be able to select the size of the rims?

Its a possibility, but I doubt it.

I think if a track editor, dynamic weather and time of day made the final cut, theres a good chance a livery editor made it in.

Last I time I checked Kaz said no Livery Editor for GT5. However, he did not state that there wouldn't be any liveries at all...👍

I believe thats just PD being very accurate with the car name. In GT5P I can recall a car having ('19 BBS wheel option) at the end of the car name. I cant remember the car tho.

If they wanted to be very accurate, they wouldn't have the "19" option" part. They would simply have it as the 2009 SLR McLaren.
That car was the STI.

It's odd that PD seems to get predominantly base-model cars. The SLR in GT4 had the non-turbine stock rims (did ANY SLR ever not have that option boxed ticked in real life?). The M3 in Prologue runs the smaller 18's. If I'm not mistaken the 458 Italia also comes with it's "base" wheels, same with the Gallardo.

If they included manufacturer options in the car selection process (unlikely at this point), it'd be interesting if we got charged more based on our selections. If I spend a few grand more on my special silver GT-R with self-healing paint, will I get any noticeable benefits? ;)

I'd rather PD didn't clutter up their car names so much that they treat a car having different wheels as being a different model purely for the purposes of padding the car roster.

Now that you say that, I quite like this layout screen, with all the info next to the car, as opposed to nearly selling a car to see the info.

Track Editor would be nice to have but having customization for the cars with it would be even better. I think that we will get both because honestly what would be left out of this game that others may or may not have?

Well not long now only 23 days to go

TD:U did the manufacturer wheel options idea very well. It would seem a sensible inclusion in GT, but then I've always wished they'd offer any manufacturer visual accessories when buying a car, too. For example, some cars have optional lower styling kits or a rear spoiler. Those sort of options would be cool.

they did actually... Interior was done too, considering there was cockpit view for each car in the game

Someone suggested a while back that it would be cool to have race-modification done and spit out a blank car. Well I noticed in this shot of the Apex book...

There's a blank R8 LMS race car.

Another thing I thought of today, whilst I should've been working, was Rally-modification. 💡 Hmmm.....

Also a possibility. I've also been thinking that an actual livery editor might not be in the game, but the ability to copy or transfer liveries to different cars might be possible.

Emphasis on might.

I think that we made be able to make real race cars through race mods and that PD have been holding them back, we never know we may get the DBR9 or murcielago RSV

I'm sure that will lump in with Racing Modification, just certain cars will become rally vehicles.

One thing people don't seem to realize, if it's implemented as it was in GT and GT2, racing modification pretty much justifies the inclusion of a bunch of very similar cars.

Evos are a family that has often been criticized for bloating up the car list, with racing mods two very similar Evos might tune into two very different cars. Maybe one becomes a GT style race machine and the other becomes a dedicated rally machine.

It'll be a lot more fun collecting cars to see all their different race mods again :)

I'd prefer it if the balance of specific tuning determined whether it was a time-attack (tarmac) car, a rally car, or a spec racer etc., rather than a menu option or some arbitrarily pre-defined decision on PD's part. A good tuning system should allow us to create all manner of cars, suited to different things, from the same starting point (i.e. the same car!)

Well certainly, while the race mod might make one car look like a rally car and another look like a time attack vehicle, the performance changes involved would benefit either. It would still be up to the owner to decide what the purpose of the car should actually be.

This of course assumes they work as they did in gt and gt2. Who knows, maybe popular rally cars get some rally specific functional mods. Extra lights, stroke up on the suspension, beefier chassis, etc. I understand what you're saying though, while you could make anything into a rally car, if the game offered all those exclusive benefits to a car that gets it as a race mod it would favor some cars perhaps unfairly.

Yeah, you're right. I suppose the differences really are quite subtle (if not necessarily visually,) in a lot of cases.
I'd love it if we could pick and choose various Race-Mod-y things to do to the car, rather than the whole shebang (which may, as you say, be inappropriate, or unfair for a given set of circumstances - esp. online).

Anyway, I've decided I'm having a "curb your enthusiasm" week (as in, of myself, not the "comedy" show :p) so I'll stop before I get carried away again...

I decided to fire up GTHD to do some time trials, and i decided to look at the "tuned cars" i saw things like "cat back" exhaust systems, compared to stock exhaust on the stock cars, Roll cages, and even colored wheel nut's on the cappuccino, but heres the thing, take a look at the body kit on the cappuccino in GT5p, it's a full wide body, now take a look at the GTHD cappuccino, it just has a "after market front lip" RAYS wheels with "Blue wheel nuts" a stanced ride height, A big catback exhaust system, and a wing, The miata also has RAYS, stanced ride height, and a bigger chromey exhaust tip rather then the small stock one, wing and a roll cage, and what looks like racing seats, as well as a small Carbon fiber front lip. The R33 also has a bigger exhaust with a burnt tip looks like a HKS Dragger, the evo has no GT5p body kit but has a bigger exhaust, ENKIES, and Stanced ride height, I think tuning goes alot further then most people think.

Things like visible exhaust changes and racing seats etc are a huge plus. and its not speculation as there are facts to back this up.

Also alot of different looking exhaust, rather then just one catback.

I'm thinking the customization part is going to be more along the lines of the different parts we can put on the cars. From wheels to body kits to exhaust systems to roll cages. I'm getting excited thinking about the different wheels and body kits, and most of all seeing which cars can be 'race modified'.

I hope the race modification is avaliable for atleast all street premium cars, but imagine it was extended to many standards aswell. Imagine a Shelby Series 1 race car:drool:

I like the sound of all that! Visual upgrades have always been lacking in GT games so things like visual exhausts and body modifications are a huge improvement.

Something i just thought of is it would be awesome if we could fully customize the interiors/engine bay/boot and have the ability to open all the doors and zoom in and out when we are in the garage screen. Highly unlikely but would be cool........

Is there anyway to get GTHD?
For thoughs who downloaded it the first time when it was realeased on PS3 demo section, But now for all regions it was taken down and never put up again, which is a shame. because rather then exterior tuning it had the tuned exhaust noise for cars not available in prologue my favorite being the 96 evo GSR, i think you can get a copy of GTHD from some one on here, but not sure how. In the mean time ill take some pictures and show you the tuning of what looks like individual parts. i'll just edit this post when i take them.

Sorry for the crappy images, 2006 "letter box is not good with 2010 Nikon, but i do have a 28" sony flat unboxed :D...for cristmas.
But yea thats what i caught as far as tuning goes, as for performance, the cars really felt "tuned" not like GT4 where they just got faster, this is really the case on that beast miata, as for sounds, not enough grunt and raspyness like in GT5p or TT but they were ok, some stood out others didnt and some were just great, My faves, the tuned 96 evo sounded the best, GTR R33 close seconds, integra 3rd with that big catback, Sounded like the JUN tuned integra from best motoring, also the Granturismo time attack "transmission whine" is in there.

If this is a taste of whats to come, i am VERY happy.
