Okay so we know E3 2010 is the last E3 before whatever the launch date is as we know 2010 is now the release year.

Regardless if the game is Summer - Winter then like previous years and how other AAA titles have been showcased we should expect the same or similar things to happen.

• So a launch date is a MUST for starters
• More information in what the final game accomplishes in gameplay/online & features. Add to this what has to be the most impressive trailer we have seen to date yet

This is the BIGGEST stage in the world for gaming so I think any of you that believe this years E3 will be like previous years regards GT5 news are bonkers.
GDC/TGS are nothing compared to E3 in terms of exposure.

I hope KB is going to make a presence at E3 in some funny role which I cant wait for tbh as I hope they have a great new video for GT5. Of course regardless of what happens in any official presentation the show floor is going to be loaded with demo cockpits and if anything we should have new videos showing stuff we havnt seen before, err maybe but really likely as even CES got a new demo in Jan...
Personally Id love to see a triple cockpit motion sim like T10 had with FM3 as a show piece and I think Sony need a new and fully effective 3D demo available to let people decide if this is any use or benifit to the game as reports have be very average thus far reagrds it. Opinions from people having tried have been saying Wipeout & Motorstorm used 3D better.

On the bright side its quite possible we could get more of an idea about GT5 in two weeks time than what weve learned in the last two years combined.

Sony has the 3D update firmware due any day now for Asia and I believe the 10th June for Japan. USA/UK are not yet announced but likely similar as Sony's 3DTV models start to go onsale in USA/UK within the next 1-2 weeks also with different models continuing to release through to late July. Various 3D games/demos/patches will be available to download from PSN. Off cousre this hardly matters to many GTP'ers as only about 2 people it seems including me are half interested in 3D mode. However Ive got a personal feeling its possible a new GT5 3D demo could be released if the actual GT5 full games release date is Autumn/Winter. One other interesting point I noticed the other day was that Samsung stated they already since April have sold 1/4 of a million 3DTVs so thats not bad considering their is damn all content available yet.


Lets not forget on a hardware and game features front Sony have to cover so much in GT5 like no game I remember.

No, it wasn't.

It veers off course more than my uncle Timothy "Big Bone" Thomas after a few too many Jameson's.

For those who haven't had the fortunate (or unfortunate depending on your point of view) luck to have met Mr. "Big Bone", that means a lot.

It has a few times, but so has and does the General News and Discussion Thread which has yet to be locked. And as the creator of this thread , I almost feel guilty when people stray far off-topic. But this thread has been open for around 2 months, (without us killing each another), and there's only 11 days until E3. Honestly, each user needs to be responsible for him or herself and what he or she posts. If somebody goes off topic again, he or she should be dealt with personally. Heck, I even have an infraction for posting a useless comment. And that's how I learned. By being e-spanked (thanks, Famine.)

In conclusion, one person, (or perhaps even 2 or 3), should NEVER be the reason ANY thread is closed. That's just unfair for the rest who know how to post intelligently while remaining on-topic. The "bad guy(s)"or "bad girl(s)" needs to be dealt with privately! Put em' in handcuffs, Delphic! Keep the streets safe!👍

Same could be said about last year. Everyone felt betrayed. I think with all of the fans hounding Soony after the TGS March 2010 malarkey they pulled they realized how bad we want this game and all these fake release dates with the intent to delay/postpone them is childish

Last year's E3 was a joke. Plain and simple. I would never call it useless, though, as the trailer DID reveal quite a bit about GT5, but overall, wow.

My gut tells me this year's trailer will make us say: "thank God we waited a bit longer!"

Fair point, maybe it was, however if this thread didn't exist we would probably have tons of offtopic E3-related posts in many other threads, so it's serving a purpose even if there are no concrete facts to discuss.

I'm just impressed by SrRd's efforts in changing the title everyday, you must be very creative to do it, and waiting very eagerly for E3 too.

Anyway, back on topic, I'm a little bit worried about all the 3D and PSMove hype, I was waiting GT5 to be the main star of the show, but I'm not so certain of that now.

I'm just looking for organization here on the forums. When E3 does march around, I will be collecting every worthy detail and post it conveniently in the first post so it can be accessed quickly by any guest, GTPlanet member, and Jordan. It'll be like a highway of information.

Yes, it seems like a sticky situation. There'll be a lot going on this year from the 3DTV's, to the PS Move, to big sequels. Still, you must maintain some faith and optimism or else there'd be no need to even care for the event.

Agreed @ both. A complete features list would cap off E3 the right way. I mean, seriously, we still know little about the game.

Agreed again. With signs pointing to a 2010 release, you'd don't have to be very hopeful, as it's likely to come soon. I am eager to finally be happy about GT5.

Personally im not bothered and would be happy with a short trailer. Im more interested in knowing the release date and the gameplay features. I find these days with websites such as gametrailers, IGN we know too much so there is little surprise left when we play the games. For example I can guarantee the GT5 intro will be up on youtube before release but no way will I watch it until I get my hands on GT5 myself.

good points - i would like some stuff to be kept secret till the game is on the shelves, but some new stuff to wet the long term fans appitite would be nice - 406, vectra, A4, mondeo, laguna, accord etc shown as road cars, then as BTCC cars like the racing mods used to make them

Allow me to disagree with your last sentence, as I would love to see the old BTCC cars along with race mods in GT5 also . I was a little disappointed that after racing them a lot in GT2, they weren't in GT3 along with the race mods!!

My point is, if you (anyone) don't see the point of this thread, then leave it be. By posting in it, you justify its very existence. It's not too early for this thread now, since it's less than a fortnight to go, and the publicity (for E3) is sure to ramp up. Who knows what might fall out on the lead up to the first day?


Return to more legitimate justification of this thread's existence:
I won't profess to know how these things "go down", but I won't be surprised if we hear at E3 that release is (more or less) imminent - much like the announcement of the PS3 slims last year. That's how I'd play it, anyway. If that is the case, E3 will be a big event for GT5 (in terms of details, demonstrations etc.). If not, we'll most likely be disappointed with a teaser or two until the last day, with a confirmation of features, or something. At the very least I expect a more specific release window. Kevin Butler's "MFJ" preview will probably reflect this (and be an integral part of the proceedings).

If a date is not announced, it will be a devestating blow to the likelyhood of a release this year.

Without the release date, the rest will be like listening to the wind blow.

All jokes aside, of course i find this thread relevent or i would not of read every single page on a daily basis or been dissapointed when the thread was locked a few days ago. Now, back on topic.

The main thing for me this E3 is a release date. After that, other things i would like/hope to see would be.

• Deformation of cars (the new damage engine they were working on not just loose bodywork/doors scratches and such)
• Confirmation of the racetracks that are in the game
• Track editor (i really hope this made the game)
• Livery editor (the best thing in FM3 by far and i would love to see it in GT5)

As i said, release date first and foremost, everything else would be a bonus.

THREE major things:

1. A release date. Worldwide, please (at the end of the video/trailer, if possible).

2. A trailer of similar length as that of last year's trailer (2 minutes). In the trailer I hope to see confirmation weather, more night scenes, a few new cars/tracks and a roll-over sequence.

3. (Though this wouldn't be part of the video). A complete features list. Convince me with new features like livery editing, in-depth customization of parts, etc, etc, etc. It's been 5.5 years. I need to know the damn features!

In a personal opinion it seems (to me) rather obvious that there will be a release date announced at E3 this year. Would be crazy if there wasn't one announced. Out of all the car racing games being shown at E3 this year, Gran Turismo 5 is by far the best. Mostly due to the fact there (so far) hasn't been any word of a new Need for Speed and obviously no Forza. I think all it has to compete against is TDU2 (am I right?) and..well.. if you look at the first one how much of a flop that was.. I doubt many people will show a great interest in this one. Not doubting TDU2 of course but it's clearly not going to be anywhere near as cool as Gran Turismo.

I almost have a feeling the trailer will be very much like last E3's, but in this case, it'll be an updated, more in-depth version.

The NASCAR scene will confirm roll-over. The WRC scene will confirm snow and rain. More new cars will appear. More tracks will appear.

Though this year Sony themselves have said many times it is coming this year, so a release date is almost certain. Although I do agree and it's best not to assume anyway. Last year I was certain the release date (NTSC, PAL) would have been announced before years end.
