How many of you would consider it a "spoiler" if they decided to show the official GT5 intro movie at E3? I don't think I'd want to see it prior to the release. I'd rather wait and surprise myself. I like surprises. :)

They would never do such a thing, but I do expect another "lengthy" trailer like the one we saw at E3 2009. It should be jam packed with damage, weather (please), some new tracks and cars (please), and perhaps a glimpse at a roll-over sequence.

Again, Sony has to convince us to buy the game. Let's see if the trailer can do such a thing.

We will get a trailer with the release date, which will also show a lot of classic GT tracks i.e. Midfield, Apricot, Trial Mountain, etc. We'll all be in this very thread breaking it down frame by frame, while waiting impatiently for the worldwide release date of September 3rd. :dopey:

(Of course I'm just guessing)

Also want to see is LMP, F1 and WRC vehicles.

-> This last stretch of the week will pass by like finishing a boba milk tea. Hell on what PD brings on at E3, since GT PSP is out of the way (unlike last year). And please PD, do not show (more) on footage Tourist Trophy 2 footage than GT5. :grumpy:

Hi mate, you're on here most days, do Sony really have to convince you to buy the game.

I don't think so.

Yes, Sony has to convince me. Of course I'm getting the game, but I still need reasons. I've seen a few AND I'm sure the other BIG reasons will come soon.

If they dare to give us one more "soon", me and Mr.Fiskars ( my axe ) will pay a visit to everyone who is behind the delay..:grumpy:

I think that PD do'snt have to convince me,you and him or all gtplanet member's but have to do it for the rest 8million of persons!!:sly:

Im not sure I agree. I feel Gran Turismo is one of those franchises that doesn't require much hype or advertising to sell extremely well. The only other franchises within the gaming world that can do the same is GTA, COD, Halo.

Interestingly 3 of my neighbours have traded their Xbox 360s in for a PS3 over recent weeks and have already stated they will buy GT5 when its released and yet they know nothing about the game. If Sony do steal the E3 show which im expecting to happen then I fear MS need more than Halo Reach, Natal.

I have great expectations of GT5 at E3 and feel this will take video games to the next level. My prediction is over the coming months more and more gamers will migrate from the XBox 360 to the PS3 and poor old MS are going to be left behind.

Sorry, but SONY have already convinced you. The fact that you are on here most days, and admitted yourself right there that you will be getting the game, is proof enough you don't need any more convincing.

You are only saying that because you already know, and have seen enough about the game to be sure it will almost certainly surpass your expectations, but if not, you'll get it anyway. The only thing "reasons" can do in the future is reinforce why you made the decision to buy it in the first place. Like you, I'm buying it regardless, and anything feature-wise it has above and beyond Prologe is icing on the cake as far as I am concerned.

Hard to believe it's just over a week now until E3. Single digits now. Not too long ago it was like 40 odd days.

Yep, those ware some fast 40 days ;)

But they're driving Corvettes, you'll never ever catch them, not in a million years.:p *Awaits Corvette hater response*
I wasn't even remotely interested in this countdown until we reached single digits. In the mean time, I have a basketball game to focus on winning this Wednesday, hopefully I do and we go to the finals.

I wouldnt say many need convinced as its a popular franchise which almost assures it will be a big selling title regardless even for non true hardcore GT fans.

Sony may of added things to this game to also make it appeal to more casual gamers just like FM3 did to try and encourage more sales for a wider target audience. I dont mind that as long as they also have supported the gamer looking for more improvements in sim or racing aspects as well.

The anticipation this game has to me kinda feels like the excitement the N64 brought in Super Mario 64. Basically a highly anticipated franchise game now appearing on the next generation hardware. Also like N64 bringing a new experience for the franchise offering a higher degree of visuals, gameplay and with exciting new controls. GT5 seems to be redoing all those things as well.

The question is will GT5 be a genre defining game? Ive assumed all along it would but then is that because I want it to be or in confidence in Sony/Polphony Digital to deliver?

I had that same excitement for Mario 64, but that truly was a departure from the old 2D outings in both gameplay and graphics, and as such did redfine the platforming genre.

Regarding GT5, based on what I've seen so far, I'm not sure it will be so "defining". Stripping it all down to basics, you are still only steering a car around a track, either alone or against other cars, so I don't see the controls as particularly exciting or new. OK, clutch support and gated shifting in wheels that have it, but I don't really see that as genre defining, not on its own anyway. Even if it has dynamic day/night and weather, other games have already done that very well. It may just be a culmination of lots of small things like the unmatched visuals and tweaks to the physics that ultimately make the game special.

I know Kaz has gone on record as saying that its as genre-defining as the original game was, so if that claim is true, we are all in for a huge surprise. Fingers crossed then!

This piqued my interest. Not heard that before.

Imo, we so far haven't seen anything much other than the game we all expected to follow 5:P, So, as you say, there must be some big surprise(s) because GT:1 was a revolution. I'd guess it might be something to do with customisation - I remember Kaz saying that you can change pretty much any part of a car in GT, but that could mean anything. It might just apply to the handful of "premium" cars.

Yeah, well, coming from Kaz who knows how to read into it?! Lots of things get said and never materialise, and a subjective thing like "as genre defining as the original" is a pretty bold statement to make.

No I reckon Kaz is referring to the online features. This is why i've been saying that those who aren't interested in GT5 online and are still in a timewarp playing GT4 will be disappointed.

Just cant ignore me geees...

GT5 isnt genre defining then...

That's a big claim, and although anything Kaz says shouldn't perhaps always be taken for granted to put it somewhat politely, if anyone could do it PD can.
A livery editor/engine swaps or online-play are not exactly genre-defining anymore, so either it's just a further development of the existing formula going deeper and perfected to create the "genre-defining" game as in a marketing slogan or perhaps the judgement of most fans.
Or a new significant genre-defining feature is added to justify that claim literally somewhat ( track-editor? :).....or 3D/Move? :indiff:).

Being able to customize every part of the car and actually showing stuff like Intercoolers and aftermarket exhaust systems on the car will certainly be a first for Gran Turismo. But I have to be honest, when I first found out you could put rear wings on your car in GT4 I instantly thought "There's going to be more than this such as body kits for GT5". And I bet PD will do a far better job of body customization than Electronic Arts done with NFS. But that's all just guessing mostly. This will probably be one of (if not the) best car racing game you'll see until GT6.

What kind of features do you mean IVOR?

Perhaps some kind of huge online system with races, cups, championships, track holiday events, and Spectator-mode, live streams, rewards for ranks, and tonnes of community features like online auctions, paint-shops, track days, car/driving clubs.

Imo the above sounds like very very wishful thinking, but anything less than that will never be seen as genre-defining. I would just be shocked if PD came out with something that good - it would be out of character.

Anyway, we are probably getting worked up over some hot air from KY, as usual.

Don't flatter yourself, I wouldn't give you the privilege. Seriously, move on and grow up. My post was perfectly balanced and fair and would have read the same regardless of who posted originally.

Move Support: Motion controls in racing game are not novel or a first.
3DTV: Not sure how this redefines the racing genre.
1080p 60 fps 16 cars: WipEout HD runs at 1080p 60fps.
1000 cars: Past GT games have had several hundred cars - I don't see the addition of a few hundred more as genre defining.
Modelled active aero: Meaning animated spoilers etc.? If so, this is not new.
Head Tracking: This is not new technology, nor has it been confirmed.
GPS feature: Right, only if you can afford to buy the GPS unit, put it inside your car, take it to a race track, and race the car on a track that is in the game... Otherwise, it's just a feature to race against ghosts.

I'm not trying to be awkward, I'm just saying that in isolation, none of the things listed are particularly genre defining. However, this does bring me back to my original point that the game is likely going to be special because it is a sum of these parts. If that makes it genre defining, so be it!

3D has a lot of potential so i think it will not only redefine the racing gerne but it will also redefine gaming

Just being the first game to support new hardware isn't genre-defining in my opinion.
It's just being the first to have it implemented, genre-defining has more to do with software ( content to re-define the genre ) instead of just new technical possibilties ( no matter what they actually are or even whether they are significant ) as it would be just a matter of time for the other game titles to implement it as well ( not just by genre, but all genres will have this new hardware compatibility eventually ).
If GT5 is rumoured or claimed to be truly genre-defining like the first GT was it will have to add more than just supporting new hardware to fully justify that claim.
Otherwise it's just a pointless slogan or remark, although it will undoubtedly be the best driving game at the moment it comes out in my opinion ( even if it's just the same formula further evolved ).

Edit, I meant undoubtedly based on previous experiences ( hopeful would be more apt ).
