ONe size fits all Wings, ahahaha, that looked great on hot hatches (clio) but terrible on large cars like the Mustang, ahahahha, but i dont beleive tat counts as customization, if theyre mentioning it as a feature of the game like Rallying and Damage, you gotta think theres more to it.

well, except for the fact they mentioned it for GT4 too.

I do think we'll get a bit more this time around, but who knows. We haven't had an update to the wheel shop in a decade...

I think that customization has to at least move a few steps in the direction of Forza 3. While Ferrari Challenge seems to use the Forza 2 engine, and thus some measure of livery editing, other games such as the Need For Speed series have made progress with customization and livery painting. I keep thinking of even ModNation Racers, which while a simple game, still gives you enough power in the livery shop to create basic murals.

This isn't a matter of having to simulate the crushing effect against virtual molecules of differing substances, i.e. damage. This kind of a technical hurdle should be more of a hop by now. Some of us have been hollering for race mod and a livery editor since GT3 days. With a system as powerful as the PS3, I think this time we'll get it.

Can't wait for Tuesday, I believe there is going to be a lot more to this game than most people believe. I also firmly believe in a July/August release date, with all the specific GT5 advertising at Le Mans, seems to be everywhere. I just don't see that kind of money being spent for something thats going to release in more than a couple months time where most people would forget about it.

Tuesday can't come soon enough, hope I get home from work to see it live.

So I haven't heard anything official as of yet but can anyone give some sort of confirmation as to whether or not gtplanet will have a presence on the showfloor this year?

Yes. Sage, one of our moderators here will be attending the show. That's all I know for sure.

Jordan confirmed it to me.

Wow, this could be epic. :)

I investigated the trailer again and again...and suddenly found the following for a thousandth of second...I guess kaz wanna wind us up...

But for PD to call this a revolution, they're implying either that GT5 will:

1. Reach the bar and raise the bar (set by FM3's in-depth customization.)

OR

2. Totally go above and beyond FM3's bar and include things that I cannot imagine at the current time. Oh, surprises!

With revolution they're not specifically talking about customization as you seem to be implying.

We also need to consider that customization is not just body kits and liveries, its also car parts and upgrades. I remember Kaz was talking a while back (SEMA I believe) saying that he would love to have real life performance parts in the game that effect the cars in the game the same way they do in real life. To me at least, that is revolutionary.

Considering Sony's Play Create Share mantra that is all the rage, I would not be surprised if there is a decent level of customization.

One final thought I have been having is if GT5 does not meet Kaz's standards yet the game has to be released this year there is no reason why we won't/can't get post launch support. So whatever does not make it into the final release can always be patched in.

I may be one of the oddballs here, but I though the damage you could inflict on race cars was dandy. It may not be up to Forza's level, but it's better than Ferrari Challenge. I even prefer it to GTR Evo's, which is pretty hard to grasp exactly what the game is doing to you when you bang up a car. The visual stuff is rather minor to insignificant. Then all of a sudden, the engine blows or the wheels come off as if for no apparent reason.

It could stand some polishing up, but frankly, if that's all we get, it should make most of us happy.

Certainly not me. Don't get me wrong, any damage is better than no damage but they "advertised" epic damage, so we better get epic damage. I mean nothing short of the damage they showed in the E3 2009 trailer. I'll never trust PD again if this laughable damage is all we get.

GT5 Booth Sneak Peak?

Not Sure about Being GT5, I see a HUGE NOS in the floor....

Looking at the decal on the hood; I know it's from NOS energy drink. But I cannot make out the middle word. The last one appears to be "poison."

Hmm, I personally don't reckon that's the GT5 stand. Looks too small, has ‘NOS’ written everywhere, and there are no GT racing pods. And why would they display that particular 370Z?

Also not the typical GT pods they have been using for years.

Well, I know that some people are absolute damage fiends, much as many of us are graphic addicts. But honestly, I don't play Gran Turismo because I can't wait to wreck my car. And most people are probably going to turn damage off, so it looks like you and I both are in the minority on this subject.

Maybe we'll get something on the order of Codemaster's damage system, the only company which seems to get damage right. But if not... oh well.

He speaks truth...

My money is on it being for some other game which Sony just happens to be promoting (might be 3rd party or not), looks like a new NFS or maybe Grid. Just because the DF-GT is there doesnt instantly mean Gran Turismo... people forget its the official wheel for the Playstation 3 and not just one particular game!

Plus they would be using the circular GT5 demo units which we have seen at every other event if it was GT5. We only have to wait a few days now anyway.

Robin.

Although I must say I fall under the "damage fiend" category (what may affect my judgment), what would get me pissed it's not really the bad damage, but their miserably failed promise to deliver epic damage.

GT never had any visual damage or relevant mechanical damage. So if they had never promised anything, and their first attempt at damage was this crude one we've seen in demos so far, it would be fine by me. I would be somewhat disappointed, after all I've been conditioned to expect the best from PD, but I wouldn't even consider it a problem. I would accept that PD just didn't care much about damage or thought it was time to worry about it.

However that's not what happened. They promised epic damage right at the first attempt. Claimed they worked really hard on it. Fought to make it work. Assured us it would be amazing. Unrivaled. If this crude attempt at damage is all they deliver, then what? They played us for fools? Or failed miserably?

PD is one of the few game developers that still have my sincere respect. Taking a long time to develop a game is fine. Even failing to meet a release date isn't that big of a deal (although keeping the reason hidden is quite disrespectful). But they've made far too many promises they couldn't keep before. I'm afraid I can't take another hit.

^ Can't fool me! :grumpy:

1. Too small to be a dedicated GT5 booth.
2. Why is it on the lobby at the LA Convention Center?
3. Anything with NOS could be NFS-related; if not, some other racing game.
4. That 370Z is 'too tame' for it to be on a GT stand.

~> Nuff said. :indiff:

Nos, weird 370Z, no GT5 signs......it's definitely a NFS or something like it.
