Haha, thought about doing these too, having gathered all GT500 cars from '16/'08/late 90's for a full grid.

I'm wondering though, if I pull my own car to the side and let the AI cars do their thing, will they actually fight against each other or is this going to be a procession like the Monaco Grand Prix, given that the GT500 cars basically all have the same power?
They do fight! I set Boost to Weak to ensure they stay close. It’s not a ridiculous amount of overtakes, but they do actually fight that way.

Hey guys I'm absolutely loving the new custom race option, I always wanted the chance to choose which cars and where they start on the grid, I have made my own custom championship, I clicked on the random car option on the Kudosprime website, and then I went with the 9 cars under it in pp order and 8 cars above the car including it to make it a close championship, I then randomize the cars grid position, I also added race numbers and banners to make it look cooler haha, I'm waiting on the Porsche 550 and Plymouth superbird to appear in legend cars haha, anyone else do anything similar? I can't wait to see which car will be the most dominant

Anyone tried recreating the GT League races from Sport? Some are pretty fun to do if you're bored, especially the Enduros when you set the weather to Random :)

In additions to some other features/wants to be added, I'm collecting a lot cars & giving them custom liveries, finding just adding the cars to Favorites isn't sufficient,
in the garage also having the ability to create custom group labels (similar to GR.1, GR.2 etc.,) would help sort out the different cars that are needed to be added to a custom race.

Another words if you had cars for the IMSA series you would be group them under the IMSA folder

I just wish the ai cars would use 100% throttle.... the car you drive must be a lot slower than the ai cars, if you want a good race.
I guarantee you they use 100%.
And 100% no Rubber Banding.
I‘ve experimented very long with all possible Settings and it seems I’ve found some pretty spot on Settings to provide some phenomenal Racing.
Side by Side Action through Multiple Corners, cut backs and outbraking Maneuvers to just mention a few Highlights.
And most most most importantly, the Races are ultra Fair.
No punts or crashes, not once, nothing.
The AI drives phenomenally clean and smart.
And nope, my Car is not slower than the AI Cars.
I set it up that we‘re equally fast 😁

I built a maxed out Pantera today, 500ish hp, 2400lbs, 690ish PP, and wanted to do some races with it. Since there aren't any really decent races in game for it I tried out an arcade race.

The arcade race put me up against everything from a stock RCZ to an R33 GTR... and the Pantera laid waste to them. I stopped each lap and waited for the whole group to pass, then passed them all again within a couple of corners. Boring.

With that done I figured the custom race option would make for more interesting races. In GTS you used to be able to set the PP of the opponent cars regardless of what you drove. No dice in GT7. You can only choose class to set a range for performance leaving me with GR4 cars that I'll stomp all over, or GR3 cars that my street born Pantera just can't match in a straight line or through corners. Choosing the random car options left me with the same group of slow cars from the arcade race... not sure how stacking up against such a low field makes any sense, especially with the campaign races featuring all sorts of modified cars we could race against.

I know these things have probably been covered in the last 7 pages, but this is my first time in custom races, and find it irritating that options we once had don't exist anymore. Although I know my Pantera is a unique case, the only way for me to make an even playing field is to take a bunch of time selecting individual cars, and potentially building some of them to specific PP levels. So the car ends up being a really fun and pretty thing that I can't really use.

Just thought this whole situation was a let down.

They clearly dont use full throttle. Check a replay. Be inside an ai car and turn on all the cockpit details. I did this test a while ago and assume they havent fixed it. Ive done heaps of custom races and still blast through the field on professional setting even though my car is slower than the competition. Post #183 video shows what I mean (not my post), but cant confirm details as not my video.

I noticed this today as well. You can also drive up next to them and hear that they are spending a very long time in whatever gear they're in. My car was much faster than the AI the game chose for me so I stopped to let them pass, and they were all moving at a snails pace. Really made for a boring race.

GR3 cars were keeping a good pace though.

Like I said in my previous post, I’ve not noticed the AI not using Full Throttle or Rubberbanding.
I know EXACTLY what you mean though.
That’s why I mentioned my individual Settings which finally eliminate this awkward AI Behavior.
I guarantee, you 100% wouldn’t be able to blast through the Field anymore with my Settings.
At least not without making Contact.
No way.
I‘m a decent Driver and not the slowest Bloke and they provide me a thrilling and engaged Race until the Final Lap.

In that particular video, all cars are at different PP on RH. The fastest cars are the P1 BB512, P2 365GTB4 and the Superbird. I set the Superbird transmission at 330km/h. All other cars are 250Km/h to 300km/h. AI are on Professional, Tyre/Fuel wear are 1X. Weather is Random. No boost in any races.

I had the AI use the Superbird in the previous races and it kept spinning out, exiting the straight. Wanted to see what was happening as no other car was touching it. My suspension settings weren’t touched because it‘s not spinning anywhere else. However, as seen at the end of the lap, I lose traction. So, something is happening. Just checking.

With other videos/races I’ve posted, AI do battle me and also in packs. Yes, AI give up at the back and yes, AI rubberband. Once again, lots of the behaviour are track specific. Even corner specific. I’ve found vintage cars to be most competitive in my set ups. One make Hachi roku races are my go to.
My recent multi-class races with the Group C, GT1, all Super GT500 eras, GT2 and GT3 cars, are shaping up nicely. It’s a shame we do have to experiment this much to find what works for our own personal enjoyment. Still having fun though.

Could you please re-share these settings for me?

Yes of course. I haven’t posted them yet. As soon as I get back home, I’ll upload some Photos of the Individual Lobby and Car Settings.

Edit: Another question maybe someone might help.
Yesterday and today I tried to upload a few of my Custom Race Replays on my Profile Page in GT7 to prove my Point because I’m quite sure at this point, many People reading my Posts don’t believe what I’m saying.
But as soon as I start uploading, at 5% it always stops and resets back to 0% and again at 5% it resets to 0% again and than after a while without doing anything it says an error has occurred CE 220333 or something like that.
Can anyone explain to me what I’m doing wrong, I’m clueless 🤷🏻‍♂️

Check this video in car footage out then, and you will see ai cars dont use full 100% throttle. Look closely at who is driving each car. Pause the video if required. Got nothing to with how good a driver you are. On a track like lemans, this is hopeless... You can see the settings at the end as well. Im not trying to knock anyone, but these are the facts. If you are happy with the game as is, then great.

Yes, I’ve noticed that in the past too.
I also noticed that sometimes the Cars will suddenly get massive Boosts.
All sorted out with my Settings, at least I don’t notice that Behaviors anymore.
Now it’s fighting for every Place and AI Cars going full Throttle.
I almost never use HUD so I don’t see the inputs when watching the Replays but I’ll check them out later.
I will be doing some online Lobby Racing later and afterwards I’ll post my Settings.
I haven’t forgot you Guys.
I‘m sure you’ll love it.
You can thank me afterwards 😅

Ok Folks like I promised here are my Settings which I’m using to make my Custom Race Experience somewhat entertaining and enjoyable.
Keep in mind though that my Mindset is always going for a Contact Free and Fair Race.
I first and foremost race for the immersive Experience hence I don’t go for every opportunity and wisely time my Moves on Track.
I always drive in Cockpit View with Wobble 2 and have the HUD completely disabled.
I completely Focus on what’s happening in front of me and try to drive as smooth as possible and never push like a Maniac or like I would if I’d TimeTrial for a Daily Race.
I‘m always going the Realistic Route, no corner cutting always 2Tires on the Track and no insane Engine Braking or redlining the rev limiter.
I always race as I’d do it in real life too.

My Car is the McLaren which I set to 622pp. It’s bone stock racing Hard tires. I just restricted the engine Power nothing else.
My opponents PP vary from 630-670pp. Most of them around 650pp.
No tuning just bone stock with having slapped some Turbochargers to them to get their power output up.
Keep the exact order like you see it in the Picture though.
I noticed that it makes a huge difference if you let the Cars start in a different order.
This particular order which you can see in the Pictures provides the most thrilling experience to me.

If you have any specific questions regarding the exact pp setups for each Car I could do that too but as long as you keep your Car around 620pp and than as You go up the Grid you just increase the opponents PP.
You do not have to make it a gradual Increase though.
Experiment to your likings.
You can make 2 or 3 Groups or many small 3-4 Car Groups or a long 1st to last Group.
It all depends on the order you slot the Cars in the Grid.
@Nuschel01
i just tried to upload my Replays, game showed me the StinkyFinger
Is there a workaround maybe

Edit: My McLaren is set to 628pp sorry my mistake but anything between 620 and 630 depending on the track you’re racing at should be good.
And most importantly NEVER EVER use BoP.
And DEFINITELY use Boost on Weak.
Not strong, definitely NOT OFF, just weak.
This 2 particular settings seem to have an deciding Factor in mitigating the Rubberbanding and overall a very unrealistic on track Behaviorfrom your Opponents.
Again, use the boost Function on weak but disable BoP.
And ALWAYS keep your Cars pp and HP below your Opponents.
The Combination of these 3 Factors are crucial to eliminate the Rubberbanding and to give you a really good Challenge.
If you now still can easily Win WITHOUT making Contacts and fly through the Field than I don’t know how you do it or why it’s so different compared to my experience.
Good luck and let me know what you think of my Settings.
If it turns out to be a Game Changer for you too, that’d be awesome so please let me know 😁

I think maybe it's because your replays are over 20MB. You can't upload more than that. I seem to be able to share shorter races fine but not longer ones. How long were the ones you tried to share?

Around 30min each with roughly 100mb Size.
I have shared Replays before which are way bigger than 20mb on my Profile Page and it was never a Problem though…hmm strange

PSA: AI's throttle is still stuck at 95% as of 1.17 :(
Yep true, it makes it very easy to beat the ai at watkins glen. You probably need a car about 50pp less to make a good race. I noticed at laguna seca the ai slow down heaps on the last lap as well.

why do you set boost to weak why not strong wouldnt that make the AI more stronger ?

From my experience, weak is not making the AI speed up unnaturally fast.
With Boost on Strong I noticed some unrealistic Scenarios which doesn’t make sense.
That’s why I only use Boost on weak.
The Combination of the mentioned 3 Settings in my previous Post provides me the best and most realistic Racing.
