Not if I have anything to say about it. As the biggest of the LFA wanters, I'll make it a point to use it everywhere I go. Drag lobbies? Car meets? 700 PP tournaments? No matter what, I'll have an LFA ready for the task. I'll stop it from fading into obscurity. :P

Also... did the Chiron really disappear? In the lobbies I frequent (1/4 and top speed) there'll be at least one person using it every time and curbstomping the competition.
I haven't seen it used in ages. Granted, online I only do PP lobby races, I'm sure it has some uses in the more quaint lobby types. For racing, it's just gone because it drives like a boat lol.

That would make sense. I imagine the Giulia and C8 'Vette from the same update get used much more often in those types of lobbies.

I, for one, will eagerly celebrate its arrival.
Would you celebrate it more than the 190E or a Porsche 959? That's the thing: take 6 months to model a car that 99.9% of the players won't care about, and will just be seen as a troll car, or model a car that is on high demand, just like the Sierra Cosworth was? At this point, if they are so slow at modeling cars, better choices have to be made. They can't do what they did in GT4, where they could model all sorts of cars fairly quickly.

This level of updates, will just make it so that people who stopped playing, won't even bother coming back. Some cars are appealing enough for that, and most of the cars in this update are not.

I swear this thread is populated by people that don't realise not every single member of the community wants the Lexus LFA. I was born in the 90s, I have no nostalgia for a 70s Citroen. I still think it's cool and will drive it.

The LFA is ridiculously overhyped at this point. It's just going to go the way of the Chiron and disappear a month after launch anyway.
Yet, more people want the LFA than all the cars in this update combined. You can either appease to the majority who wants an LFA in the game, or appease to a minority who wants something like a DS. It's about priorities.

The LFA is not hyped, it's desired. Two different things. If people stop using the LFA after one month (which won't be the case, really), then the problem is not the car, it's the game and the lack of events to use it.

The Citroen DS is a cool addition in a car list that has already ticked almost all the boxes. GT7's car list is no way near that.

PS: Just saw your recent post about the Chiron. Congratulations, you made an assumption about the usage of one specific car by analizing a limited PP range and a limited playstyle.
That's like saying no one uses the Tomahawk X because in my 550pp drift lobby no one ever showed up with one. Amazing logic.

Yeah boohoo I considered a car to be relatively unused when it's literally not used in circuit racing, the main thing the game is designed around. Sue me.

If this game were CarX Drift, you'd have a point. Unnecessary hyperbole makes your point look stupid, not mine.

I'm pretty confident that the unknown car in this update is not the Genesis Vision GT, the body shape just doesn't match up

Sure, the track is longer but the time limit is the same. So it's the same amount of work and time (give or take a few minutes over the line) for the same amount of money.

It being harder or being more work to drive is completely subjective. If I had the choice between the two, I'd take the Nordschleife almost every time.
A great deal more work at the 'ring than any other track.

Great work in Nordschleife will be a snowy one!!!

Sorry but I disagree spa and Nordschleife the 24 hours version are not the same amount of work Nordschleife is alot more demanding and harder to keep a good pace at least for me.

Its like having 2 jobs both pay the same and you work the same time but the difference is one job has you moving 5 heavy boxes while the other has you moving 25 heavy boxes and saying that there same amount of work.

As I said, it's subjective. The Nordschleife might be super intensive to you, but to me (and many others) it isn't.

It's more like one job has you move 20kg of books, and the other 20kg of steel.
They're both 20kg, but only you dictate which you would rather do.

99.9% of GT7 players don't care about the DS? I know that you nor I are representative of any majority, but what I know for sure is that there are many people who play GT to drive those old cars that are almost impossible to see outside of a museum nowadays. I mean, if I wanted to drive recent cars there are many other games doing better out there.

I am not really interested in driving those cars when most of them don't even have a clutch and shifter, since manual transmission is one of the things I love the most about driving. I put quite a lot of money in a Fanatec setup. I cannot use the clutch at all in sport mode and even in solo I cannot use it with most of the cars... For sure I can't wait to try the DS, but it's not a race car and we will need some more events to get use of it elsewhere than in custom races. Anyway I totally understand that many players are not interested in it. But this Honda formula? Man, that's probably the additional car I've been the most excited with since the game released! It will be a treat, especially in VR, and that's exactly for that kind of cars that I keep on playing GT7.

Now, to speak concretely, there are only 93 cars from 1929 to 1990 in GT7, on a total of 454 cars. Meaning that 60 years of cars and racing history don't even represent 1/4 of the cars in the game...

Meanwhile, there are 185 cars from 2010, so those 13 last years represent twice as many cars as in those 60 years.

It's a fact, those oldies are totally under-represented in GT7 compared to recent cars, so it's a really good thing that we get that kind of updates!

Note that even if I don't care much about it myself, I sincerely hope that you'll get your LFA as well as the other cars that you want, but as for those old cars, they are a huge part of automobile history and hopefully they will continue to have a place of choice in GT!

Jeez how did we get to this?

I'm assuming a large portion of this forum's user base grew up, at least in part, during a time when video game simulators gave us a very limited number of cars/teams to choose from and we would be absolutely be over the moon just to have one of our favourites in the game available to use.

Gran Turismo, a game which tries to encompass the whole of motoring, present and past (and to a certain extent future), with it's untold thousands of possible inclusions from the real world and people are really bellyaching that the ONE car from the WHOLE of history that they want to see in the game isn't here?

How did we get so entitled and spoilt?

Don’t you realize that there are racing games out there that come with more cars than GT7 does? It’s not about entitlement. PD is behind the competition in a genre they more or less defined themselves.

It's not so much entitled, but yes, spoiled in a good way. Thing is, players still bellyached over the hundreds of Standards included in past games.

Personally, I'd gladly have those standards now(totally a personal choice, for certain cars). However, GT Sport burned that idea to the ground.ayne PD did listen to the players and didn't include those cars and was running full on with the eSports.

Old slower cars are part of GT's legacy,i just understand why people would complain about them, did people choose the 1886 Motor Wagen in GT4 over the dozes of fast machines back in 2005?No,but that was never the point.

I think people would have less of an issue had GT7 launched with these "useless" cars. Instead, they're being added to the game in, usually, three car updates (updates that were monthly for less than a year but who knows what the schedule might be now).

I, for one, quite like the cars in this update (other than the VGT and wishing we got the RA300 instead of the RA272) but it's easy to understand why people are upset to find the Citroen DS being added to the game before fan favourites like the LFA or the Porsche 959.

I would enjoy that 911 for sure, and DS deserves to be in GT7 because is significant history car, but I don't understand why can't they have different ratio of added cars like: 1 car from 2020 or newer, 1 legendary returnig road or race car from GT series to fit UCD, 1 significant legendary dealership car.

This game is really lacking new road or race cars, and I am sure that car manufacturers would be proud to have some new model represented in GT7.

This is such a slippery slope of defining which car is useless and relegating slow and old cars as not worth being part of DLC content is just wrong to me.They are not lesser cars compared to LFA even if it's not a fan favorite.

Cars that are "necessary or useful" is a really tricky topic to discuss because there's so many variables around them.

However, one point that @dacc10 mentioned, I absolutely stand behind it 100%, which is this:

Would you celebrate it more than the 190E or a Porsche 959? That's the thing: take 6 months to model a car that 99.9% of the players won't care about, and will just be seen as a troll car, or model a car that is on high demand, just like the Sierra Cosworth was? Yet, more people want the LFA than all the cars in this update combined. You can either appease to the majority who wants an LFA in the game, or appease to a minority who wants something like a DS. It's about priorities.

The LFA is not hyped, it's desired.
Putting aside the numbers he used (99.9%), and also the car he referenced as "less desireable", which is the Citroen DS in this case, his point still stands.

PD can no longer afford to model cars like they did for the previous games, as their quality and attention to detail have reached near realistic levels.
So with that taken into account, it's of absolute importance for them to choose the "fan favourite" cars among all the several car categories to put into the game first to appease to, obviously, the majority of the playerbase.
And only after they put those cars in the game, and tick all those boxes, can they have the time to choose other less desirable cars.

And what irritates me the most about this, is that all it takes to do this job, is simply have a website/forum like here GTPlanet as an example, where a large portion of the playerbase is concentrated, to be able to tell which cars we want in the game the most.

Like seriously, do they not have someone doing this??? Are they just randomly choosing cars of their own accord without having the feedback of the players?
Do they lack manpower??? Heck, I can do this for them as a part time job if they want to. I would just make a thread asking people what cars they want in the game (and for them to be specific) and just gather all the data to compile the results and see which cars are "voted" the most, and start from there. Heck, IIRC, I think this forum already has something like this.

Take the Lexus LFA for example. It's, undeniably, a car that quite a big majority of the playerbase wants.
It's a Japanese car, from the company that PD likely has the best relationship with of them all considering it's the manufacturer with the most cars in the game (Toyota), it's a car that even car journalists and enthusiasts drool over for, and yet, why is it still not in the game???
Do they not really know how desireable the car is by the majority of us? I don't believe they are that out of touch with the playerbase.

And when you talk about the LFA, you can talk about a plethora of other cars. And not just supercars, older classic cars and race cars, prototypes, GT race cars... you name it.

I have nothing against the cars that have been added to this game so far. I believe all of them deserve to be in the game (aside from VGTs but those are a foregone conclusion that they will be part until the VGT project ends, and frankly, it can't end fast enough) but why have a lot of them come first into the game before the cars, even of the same category, that the majority want?

They have to realize that there's a strength in cars that brings people back to actually play the game.

For example, take this update, instead of the 911, DS and RA272, why not a Bugatti Type 57 Atlantic, a Porsche 959 and ... any far more desirable F1 car?

Priorities... It has been PD's achilles heel since GT7's launch (probably even before, but I'll stick with GT7 for now).

Every individual has their own taste, which is why you can never please them all. For me the LFA will always be a mediocre looking and performing supercar, poorly received and quickly forgotten. Until that is, it had a second wind through internet culture and YouTube, thanks to it's V10 (not unlike the Carrera GT). It reminds me of the 787B myth, a midfield runner for much of it's racing career. Winning Le Mans in '91 through a series of fortunate regulation changes after the opposition underestimated it. Fast forward three decades and some would have you believe it's the ultimate Group C car, banned for being too quick.

The DS would not be a priority for me, but if you have the Mini, VW Beetle & Renault Gordini, it absolutely fits in. For a generation of enthusiasts these are pivotal cars, and with tuning options, you can create some very cool builds. The cars aren't the issue, it's the lack of suitable events for '60's era touring and sports cars.

The 959 is one of my top 5 all time favourite cars, but the '73 911 RS is arguably the most desirable 911 of all time. It also has far more use in terms of builds and for livery creators.

As for the RA272, I personally think that's an inspired choice. Maybe some don't yet understand how great it could be as a drivers machine, it's use in organised racing, or as a canvas for livery creators. I don't have much interest in F1 cars past the early '90's, Super Formula models do a good job of scratching the itch for modern F1.

PD are the only people with data to tell them which cars are used by the community. I'm sure in many cases they choose to add what they personally like. But I bet we'd be surprised at which cars get most use (outside online racing) in general single-player use, scapes, photography, livery creation etc.

I don't think that any car has the power to bring back players that quit playing the game. If they came back just for the LFA or any other car, they'll quit again within 2 days. None of the cars I want the most have been added in the game so far, but I still thoroughly enjoy the new cars we're getting at each update, and being able to drive a wide variety of cars is what I like about GT. Even when it's cars I'm not interested in, I'm happy for those who waited for those cars and will try them anyway. The LFA has way more chance to be added than the cars I'm waiting, with a little patience I'm quite sure you'll get it 👍

This is their choice, even if the cars you're talking about would be great additions too. As Nathan88 says, this RA272 is an inspired choice and to me it is desirable as hell! This V12 is raw power, no ABS/CTS or any other assists, manual transmission, super lightweight, and with a driving position giving a panoramic view that will be a real blast in VR x) Damn, it will be more thrilling than driving any recent formulas for sure!

More like:

A Citroen DS that barely anyone will use (lack of tighter tracks and lack of races won't help it either);
A 911 that could be cool at first, but it will get lost in the crowd of the other 911s (a 959 would be a lot more special for example);
A 60's F1 car that will probably be very expensive, good for a few limited one-make races and that's about it;
A concept car/VGT that barely anyone will use.

10/10 rating, not for the cars, but for the disappointment.

Didn't PD say that they were modeling around 60 cars per year? If so, why do we get quite a lot less than that? 5 cars per month should be the standard, and given we didn't get a January update, this one should have 10.
In a 8-10 car update, these 4 would be good, but with 4 cars, all of them being niche picks, is just bad. It's not like working on VR thing takes away manpower from the modeling team.

And, not a single modern car. Amazing.
So a car that is viewed as one of the most beautiful cars ever, that has been mass produced and was a technical masterpiece at its a time, a Porsche 911, also a first Gen which we don’t have yet, and if predictions are true it’s the first RS model also, and a F1 car, yeah F1, like all the cars I mentioned before, is really niche..
