It's sad to hear PS4 is being that big of a limitation for what we get in the game. Making GT7 cross platform was a terrible decision by Sony. Maybe not for sales, I guess, but for quality of the game for sure. Maybe PS4 IS the reason why we don't have Pikes Peak after all. I think when cross platfrom was announced many believed it wasn't the intention from the very beginning. What if Pikes Peak was supposed to be in the game initially but was simply cut due to PS4 limitations?

It’s not just sales. The game released during a time where Sony for various reasons could not satisfy PS5 demand, and if there is one Sony title that is meant to enjoyed by the masses it’s Gran Turismo. It’s still a great game.

It's probably just not a simple direct comparision. It might work when everything inside the game is designed for PS4 with PS4 power in mind, but not work when one tries to fit a PS5 track within PS4 limits. We can speculate on what exactly it means, but either way that comment confirms there are internal difficulties fitting GT7 to PS4 and it affects what content we get.
While this may well be true in terms of limitations considering PS4, there really isn't much reasoning against developing any more PS5 exclusive content like Sophy, VR and advanced graphic modes already is.

Sales has to be the target, you'd be silly for ignoring the install base of the one of the highest selling systems of all time.

Take a look at the state of the industry at large, endless layoffs, studios being shuttered every single day. You have to set the studio up for success.

In an era where several CEOs and investors have made some colossally bad calls, (Jim Ryan going all in on live service which have now seemingly all been cancelled, Fair Games will be cancelled soon) it's one of the few decent calls they've made.

I'd rather have GT7 be held back on PS4, then having relatively poor sales on PS5 and then the studio being at risk of closure. Let's not forget, it's a live service game which isn't about buying a battle pass, the micro transactions aren't heavily promoted etc. It's a live service game which mostly makes it's money through players retaining their PS Plus subscription.

Does PD think that actual racetracks aren't "interesting" enough or what? I really don't think that mashing together Grand Valley with the California coast did anything for either and I don't think it's just "nostalgia" to say that they really need to get off the trend of fake-looking road courses they keep making lately.
I think it's as simple as Kaz driving through that highway to get to Pebble Beach(i think it's Pebble Beach), and thinking "huh, this would make for a pretty track".
And he's right it's a gorgeous track.

The thumbnail of the trailer shows the 205 GTi in Silver vs the Z4 in red...

Hurts my eyes and confused my brain that they swap the two car's iconic colors... LoL

Most likely the same'ol 5-10 minute content long patch to keep everybody hyped and getting online to pad those "Monthly Active Users" stats. So much wasted potential.
Told you so. I'm not even going to bother booting this game anymore. I'm all against the "Monthly Active Users" metric. For all I know, the entire "passion for cars and racing" has been totally replaced by metrics and keeping the stakeholders happy. Which makes things worse because they are not even trying to milk this huge cow in a better way. So much wasted potential. For gamers, for enthusiasts, for stakeholders, for the brand itself.

I don't think the stakeholders want a Unimog mate. If anything this update supports things being added purely for the passion of automobile history.

Sales are what dictates the success of a game, not monthly active users.

Not sure why you bother posting in this forum then. I, for once, am quite happy with all cars in this update.

on a console where there is a paying option to play online, it is not 100% true though.

...so you'll be done posting about the game then?

The update would be pretty much the same as every other update over the last THREE YEARS? Wow! Nostradamus has nothing on your keen ability to see the future.

We are the stakeholders.

I don't know if you pay attention to the broader world of game development, or the business of games, but it's currently a BLOOD BATH for employment and absolute carnage when it comes to projects and games. Some HUGE budget games have barely survived a month.

Among this horrendous time in videogames, here we are THREE YEARS after launch. I'd say, based on the "Monthly Active Users" and the daily active users, Sony and the team are making the correct choices. They aren't perfect, but I keep coming back for more.

You're not going to bother booting the game? Ok, well, I'm busy trying to get my DR rating back up and I play almost daily. Who do you think will be missed more? People like me, or people like you?

I often wonder about comments like this. What wasted potential is there? A game that is enjoyed by millions of people will, by definition, be imperfect to each individual. I have my criticisms of this game, sure, we all do, but your comments stink of entitlement.

I will wager that while you complain about all that YOU have not gotten that YOU want, you probably haven't bother to explore the vast majority of the game. Where's your photos? Where's you liveries? How's your Sport Mode ranking? Did you even bother to finish the career? Or the licenses? Or the missions? Or the circuit experience?

And, again, I feel this needs repeating, the rest of us are still playing THREE YEARS post launch.

Excuse me how can I figure out the grand turismo competition code for racing
There isn't a code. You just enter Sport Mode. Sport Mode unlocks after Menu Book 9.
