This does look like it's going to be one of the better VGT offerings. Should be good along side current greats like the Bvlgari and McLaren VGT's. I'm not a Corvette guy by any stretch, but a good car is a good car. Always happy to have a VGT added with an ICE. We've been inundated with electric cars and hybrids lately, so this is a nice little treat.

Something interesting to note (or not) is the livery for the CX.R does feature the “Corvette Racing” logo, as well as their “Jake” skull. Both our obvious associations with Pratt Miller, so that could hint that there, at the very least, isn't any bad blood between PD and PM, like often gets speculated. Saying that I’m sure I’ll eat those words when GT8 inevitably has the “Corvette C8 Gr.3 Race Car” instead of either of the real C8 race cars.

The closest thing so far to a C8 race car were the two modified road cars from the Corvette one-make special event, which featured imitation liveries.

So at least Polyphony are aware that the car exists, but like with all of these kind of imitation liveries they make, they aren't officially associated content.
Still cool for what they are though, in my opinion.

That entire event was chock full of imitation liveries from part corvette race cars, which was really cool to see. I would love to see the liveries used in all the special events become downloadable for players to use, like they did at the launch of the game with some of the NPC cars.

Since I don't think the original 2013 concept teaser will probably go anywhere soon, and given the precedents of BMW VGT (teased as a i8-like, ended up resembling a 2 Series more) and Peugeot L500R (in which it was not originally a Vision GT car), I thought that Ford could might as well slap the Vision GT moniker to the Fordzilla P1 (that was hyped as "built by gamers, for gamers") and call it a day.

Except the Fordzilla P1 itself only appeared in four games, and only one isn't a mobile game.

Definitely the best looking VGT car so far (at least imo)! You know, I get the feeling we might get a Corvette themed update later this month (similar to Forza‘s updates featuring cars from a single brand, e.g. BMW & Hyundai), maybe finally including the C8 Z06 GT3.R.

Though iirc wasn‘t there some dispute in the past between Pratt Miller and Polyphony regarding licensing? On the other hand, they might have settled it after all. Anyway, this is all just wild speculation.

I've seen this sentiment a few times and I just can't see it happening. It's just not PD's style to deliberately order update content in a marketable way.

Agreed. There's often two from the same brand (two Volvos, Dodges, Porsches recently), but there hasn't been three cars from the same manufacturer in a GT update since... March 2018, when Tsukuba was added to GT Sport and three of the 13 cars added were Nissans. (Is that number right?? Crazy...)

I expect this next update will bring the two concept 'Vettes, something modern (but probably not the Xioami SU7 ultra which will want less electric supercars to compete against on the same day), an unexpected coupe from 1994 and a track maybe...

Yeah, probably. A lot of the past updates have had some pretty diverse lineups. I wonder what the other cars might be though since I can't imagine the August update consisting only of the two Corvette VGT's.

Let's hope it happens soon later this month, I think I heard that PD was planning to give us another update at the end of August.

  • There have been 9 updates where five full weeks had passed since the previous update, but six full weeks had not (so a regular long month, or an update early in the next month). Of these, 5 contained 3 cars, and 4 contained more than 3 cars.
    • Note that three of the 3-car updates were in 2022, it is 2-4 since 2023.
  • There have been 9 updates, not counting April 2022, where six full weeks or more had passed since the previous update (so ones where the previous month was likely skipped). Of these, 4 contained 3 cars, and 5 contained more than 3 cars.
Do with that information what you will. A 28 August update will be a five-weeker, for what it's worth.

Probably highly unlikely but I honestly think at least a Wraith Black Badge would be cool in GT7. Maybe even a Cullinan, given PD's recent emphasis on SUVs.
