So with the Circuit Experience for Yas Marina using the Ferrari 296 GT3, I wonder what car will be used for Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
I'm unsure if they would choose the F3500-B, given formula cars are already tricky enough of a driving challenge by themselves.
Could be one of the 2 yet-to-be-revealed cars depending on what they are.
But what do you think?
There are 15+ Gr.3 cars that aren't in any Circuit Experiences. Stuff like the Viper, NSX, Citroën, the newer AMG, V12 Vantage, both Peugeots, Suzuki, Hyundai, Volkswagen VGT....

One of them will likely be the car of the Circuit Experience for CGV. :D

Any chance we'll see more on Spec III there? 'Cause I'll be honest: I was expecting a lot more info during GTWS, not just a reveal of two cars and a re-reveal of Yas Marina. =/

I mean maybe it will have the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve trailer, and reveal the remaining 2 cars.
But GT appearing in back-to-back State Of Plays seems unlikely to me personally.
I'm going to tune in regardless as there's still a chance though.

I’d say no. Anything GT would be at a normal state of play and not one specifically for gamers in Asia imo.

This one is for anime and gacha games I’d think.

Would be happy to be proven wrong.

This is going to be mainly gacha games and smaller JRPGs, and it's rumoured Sony are going to do the Switch 2 thing where they have a Japanese-locked console they can sell for cheaper there to combat the weak yen.

Anything Japanese-made but with a Western audience (GT, but also your Resident Evils and Final Fantasies of the world) is going to want to advertise in English.

The Yas Marina trailer didn't feature any dialogue, or show car names like the regular update trailers do.
These are the only parts they would have to subtitle or change for the English-Sub version I think:

Besides that it isn't really language-locked like more narrative-based titles.

But I agree that these kind of games are unlikely to be the focus regardless.

very soon...:odd:

He does also mention December twice. But we're already nearing half way through November so it isn't that far away.
Will have to be early December too, to give enough time for the Polestar time trial event to run and conclude.
Likely the 4th of December if it's being released on a Thursday, as has been the trend for previous updates.

So, pretty much officially two cars left. At least one has to be more special than what we’ve seen so far. Hey, Polstar are in, I’m going with negotiations being good between Kaz and Geely Automotive. Leading to a possible Lotus reveal.

To re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-reiterate, it doesn't work like that in the vast majority of cases (Stellantis being the sole exception, and even then Maserati is an exception to that exception) - and it incredibly doesn't work like that here.

PR teams are, almost across the board, responsible for their own brands' marketing and (budgets aside) parent umbrella corps aren't involved. For that matter Geely Auto isn't actually linked to Polestar or Lotus; Zhejiang Geely Holding is the parent, Geely Auto is a subsidiary with oversight of Geely (the car brand), Proton, and LEVC, and - via a second... ummm... group, I guess, Zeekr and Lynk&Co. Polestar and Volvo are under the Volvo Car Group, Lotus is under the Lotus Group, smart is under the smart Group. The Geely, Volvo, Lotus, and smart groups are all separate subsidiaries of ZGH.

But either way, the Lotus PR team is who handles the advertising and marketing for Lotus (which includes getting cars in games) and it's not connect to what Polestar, Volvo, Geely (brand) or Geely (group) do with their PR.

That’s wack. The important part:
The Geely, Volvo, Lotus, and smart groups are all separate subsidiaries of ZGH.

I know it’s been a while about the Michelin treaded tyre licencing kaput. Was having a look at the used cars and had to do a double take of what I thought I was seeing.

The Michelin branding is gone from every road car tyre in the LCD and UCD but these two. Thought it might have been remnants tied to Special Picks, but can’t see that’s the case. Weird.

Seeing the Wikipedia page on who's under who (under Zhejiang Geely), made it easier to see how Polestar's inclusion was more towards Volvo's side than "Geely Auto's" side as what some might have thought initially.

This also means the dream of a Proton in a GT game is still further as ever. Heck, it was even unlisted in Zhejiang Geely's website (under the Our Brands tab)!

Oh, a re-broadcast of an existing trailer, or Kaz showing up to reiterate the recent 100 million units/Spec III soon marketing beats I could absolutely see.

I just mean more that I doubt any new information is going to be revealed here.

Can anyone translate/summarize? Takuma Sasaki testing and commenting 296 GT3 on Yas Marina. Also: 1:52 (Gold time is 1:56).

I'm not a Japanese speaker; I'm using AI (transcription using Whisper and translation with Gemini), so it might not be exact, but it should give you a rough approximation.

[00:00.000 --> 00:06.000] Alright, so I'd like to do a little bit of early access gameplay.
[00:06.000 --> 00:14.000] This time, I'd like to try out the newly added Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia,
[00:14.000 --> 00:20.000] and also the Ferrari 296 GT3.
[00:20.000 --> 00:30.000] It's my first time on the track, so I'm a little nervous.
[00:30.000 --> 00:32.000] Here we go.
[00:36.000 --> 00:42.000] This car itself is quite difficult to handle.
[00:42.000 --> 00:50.000] The low end of the first file car doesn't really get up to speed much, but
[00:50.000 --> 00:56.000] the turbo kicks in right away, so on corner exits,
[00:56.000 --> 00:58.000] I lose a lot of traction.
[00:58.000 --> 01:02.000] So, it's quite a battle.
[01:02.000 --> 01:06.000] The boxer (engine sound) isn't very good, is it?
[01:06.000 --> 01:16.000] It feels like a boxer-turbo, and the turbo lag is quite intense, so it's difficult to drive.
[01:16.000 --> 01:22.000] About the track... as expected from a Grand Prix venue,
[01:22.000 --> 01:24.000] it's incredibly beautiful.
[01:24.000 --> 01:26.000] The construction is superb.
[01:26.000 --> 01:28.000] Beautiful.
[01:28.000 --> 01:30.000] I'm driving alongside it now, but
[01:30.000 --> 01:32.000] look, like this.
[01:32.000 --> 01:38.000] Because of the turbo lag, I lose a lot of traction.
[01:38.000 --> 01:40.000] It's difficult.
[01:46.000 --> 01:50.000] I can't quite get the hang of it.
[01:50.000 --> 01:54.000] This is a bit because of the turbo,
[01:54.000 --> 01:58.000] I wonder if I can go a little faster.
[01:58.000 --> 02:00.000] A little.
[02:00.000 --> 02:02.000] Oh, is this the non-stopping kind?
[02:02.000 --> 02:04.000] Oh, it won't stop.
[02:04.000 --> 02:08.000] I'm not used to the track, so it's difficult.
[02:12.000 --> 02:14.000] I've only driven a little on other games.
[02:14.000 --> 02:16.000] Just a little, so
[02:16.000 --> 02:18.000] it's extremely difficult.
[02:20.000 --> 02:22.000] Yes.
[02:22.000 --> 02:24.000] The turbo mode is...?
[02:24.000 --> 02:26.000] Yes.
[02:26.000 --> 02:30.000] Well then, I'll do just one more lap.
[02:30.000 --> 02:34.000] I'm really terrible at this, though.
[02:34.000 --> 02:38.000] The turbo is just too difficult.
[02:38.000 --> 02:42.000] That was a good time.
[02:42.000 --> 02:44.000] I still don't know, but
[02:44.000 --> 02:46.000] I'm curious about the track limits.
[02:46.000 --> 02:48.000] How much is allowed on the inside curbs, and so on.
[02:48.000 --> 02:50.000] Let's see.
[02:56.000 --> 02:58.000] Surprisingly, the sound is very important.
[03:00.000 --> 03:02.000] The sound is better than before.
[03:04.000 --> 03:06.000] Well, it looks cool.
[03:16.000 --> 03:20.000] Ah, I can't quite turn the steering wheel enough there.
[03:20.000 --> 03:22.000] From there.
[03:26.000 --> 03:28.000] The settings from the middle,
[03:28.000 --> 03:30.000] I guess only about 20% of the maximum setting?
[03:30.000 --> 03:32.000] They haven't been broken yet.
[03:32.000 --> 03:34.000] Hmm.
[03:38.000 --> 03:40.000] I can't quite turn the steering wheel.
[03:40.000 --> 03:42.000] Just a bit.
[03:42.000 --> 03:44.000] Difficult.
[03:44.000 --> 03:46.000] Difficult.
[03:46.000 --> 03:48.000] Difficult.
[03:50.000 --> 03:52.000] Oh, no!
[03:52.000 --> 03:54.000] Sorry!
[03:54.000 --> 03:56.000] This is bad.
[03:56.000 --> 03:58.000] I don't know.
[04:02.000 --> 04:04.000] This is difficult.
[04:04.000 --> 04:06.000] I think I need a little more help.
[04:08.000 --> 04:10.000] It's no use, showing off my driving.
[04:10.000 --> 04:12.000] We've reached the first corner.
[04:14.000 --> 04:16.000] I don't really know how much
[04:16.000 --> 04:18.000] I can use.
[04:22.000 --> 04:24.000] Yes, and with that,
[04:24.000 --> 04:26.000] that's all.
[04:26.000 --> 04:28.000] Thank you for filming. I apologize.

Interesting for sure! I thought these were rendered in real time but apparently not? I assumed it was because it looked quite crisp relatively speaking and I imagine it'd be easier to do it that way for all the car colours. But on PS4 it might cause slow loading.

Thanks! My summary: Its difficult

I don't think GT8 is coming anytime soon. It should be on PS6.
On other thing, PD might also cut off the GT7 update for PS4. Hopefully not though because I'm still on PS4.
Also worried about PS4 updates for GT7 being cancelled...

There are quite a few things that bother me about this Spec III. There must have been some unforeseen circumstances. I don't buy the “we've been stockpiling the circuits for a year and a half to celebrate 100 million sales with a Spec III when that number is reached” argument.

We may all had in our minds that PD was storing the new modeled tracks to make a more impactful launch for GT8 on PS6. Possibly for December 2027 as a 30th anniversary, but maybe a year earlier I don't know. In the meantime, they would have released the same regular updates adding new vehicles (and other usual content), again keeping the most iconic ones aside for GT8.

When I say that the 100 million sales are probably just a pretext, it's because in my opinion the plans have changed. Not PD's, but rather Sony/PlayStation's.
The appointment of a new CEO with the arrival of Hideaki Nishino last April, a probable change in overall strategy for the PS5 with an extension of its lifespan, and then this special Asia State of Play which announces a price drop for the PS5 in Japan (the equivalent of €310 only !). They are clearly trying to revive momentum around their console, which is now approaching its fifth year.

If PD originally planned to release GT8 on PS6, they now find themselves having to postpone their project, leaving them with one more year or two of low incomes to sustain their expanses. This brings us to this Spec III, accompanied by a paid DLC.
I'm really not a fan of paid additional content. But if my assumption is correct, they unfortunately have no choice but to implement this strategy. If I was in place, I would have just charged for the new circuits, which require much more work than new events. The very structure of “World Circuits” lends itself to DLC imo.
