I’d much rather see Zandvoort or COTA or Imola or Sebring or Bahrain or any number of real tracks before a street circuit or fake street circuit.
Sebring would've been a great technical showcase for the DualSense controller's haptics, with its bumps.
You get a bit of that with the highway segment joiners on the Tokyo Expressway tracks, but not as much as you'd get with Sebring's concrete slabs I'd imagine.

The only Racing game I can think of actively doing street circuits ATM is iRacing, and that is only a recent thing as they've massively expanded their development team. And even then the 2 most recent ones, Adelaide and Miami are not exactly center of downtown, one being in the parking lot of a sports stadium, and the other mostly around a park in a similar vein to CGV.
Yeah, that's the difference between a street circuit and a city circuit. Adelaide and Miami (and CGV, and Albert Park) use streets but I wouldn't call them urban. They're all viable.

Think of how many complex buildings there are directly next to the track on Tokyo R246's main straight, or around Circuito de Madrid (the GT5/6 one, not the one they're building for F1). That's the type of thing that takes forever to model at modern graphics levels, and what hurts those tracks' chances of coming back. And you can't skimp on them, because the internet is not charitable - people will absolutely go into Photo Mode and make fun of the graphics if you do.

Yeah, those people are ruining gaming.
I don't know if I'd go that far, but I agree somewhat.

Still, all the criticism and heckling didn't stop PD from keeping standard cars in GT6 when they had about 400 premium models that could've done fine on their own. Same with Cote d'Azur (which they even used for the Hyundai VGT showcase )

But that was a over a decade ago now; games like Project Motor Racing and Forza Motorsport are getting called out for looking worse than Project Cars 2 and Forza Motorsport 7 and look what happened to them :indiff:

As an aside, does anyone seem to care that Tokyo Expressway doesn't match the C1 route 1:1?

I prefer original tracks over real ones. I don’t know, aside from Spa or Le Mans, most real circuits feel very monotonous to me.

And of course, something like R246 or Seattle would be a great addition. I think everyone has gotten tired of the Tokyo Expressway now.

Totally agree. For me, the likes of Yas Marina or Catalunya have nowhere near the charm and character of El Capitan or Autumn Ring, as a couple of examples.

There are a lot of really great real tracks out there, but we'll never see them in this game. I do prefer real tracks, and if they must be fictional, at least resemble a real life circuit. I have zero interest in stuff like Alsace, but Maggiore is pretty good. And I will never get over the fact that they ruined Grand Valley.

I'm probably going too far, but it's driving me nuts that there's this obsession with having every little detail on objects you're not going to be interacting close with unless you decide to hack the game camera.

and because this is happening, some AAA games take a million years to be made!

Nothing in the races themselves, all the content is already known. We might get a small teaser but I doubt anything more than that.

You know, PD will always do PD things, but Pokemon has gotten a lot of eyes on its world championships and big TCG tournaments in Japan by having consistent announcements. Maybe PD should pay attention...

Slight tangent. I recall there was some talk/rumour a while back about Yas Marina being the host for the GT World Tour finale. Maybe they told Kaz they want the track in the actual game first before being willing to host the event, prompting Kaz to put it into development.
Just a guess.
Round 1 for the GT World Series 2026 just announced to be held in Abu Dhabi, on the 28th of March.

GT7 can get criticism for car variety too, compared to GT2 and GT4, of which 420 is the amount.

They gave team Ferrari a completely new car for the Finals, which is strange due to the unknown performance of the new car compared to the previous one and the team's achievements are based on the 458.
On the other hand, it proves that nothing stops them updating other manufacturers' cars too mid-season.
I hope new cars start rolling in if they take this series seriously. It would be way cooler and way more relevant to look at and root for the current lineup of cars.

Not the first time - in 2022 Nissan ran the 2013 GT-R GT3 for everything else and when the 2018 got added, they went for it for the World Finals.

It feels so weird to watch a GTWS finals event deferred, and more weird without any announcement of new content or new VGT partnerships lol
