If anything I think today was a bad day for the people wanting a GT3 refresh.

You'd think they'd be more likely to add new GT3 cars in the GTWS offseason to minimise disruption to the Manufacturers Cup. But now there more or less isn't a GTWS offseason this year, and in fact the next Manufacturers Cup starts before when a standard January update would release.

Is that why they seldomly add newer race cars, to not disrupt the gtws races?

They gave team Ferrari a completely new car for the Finals, which is strange due to the unknown performance of the new car compared to the previous one and the team's achievements are based on the 458.
On the other hand, it proves that nothing stops them updating other manufacturers' cars too mid-season.
I hope new cars start rolling in if they take this series seriously. It would be way cooler and way more relevant to look at and root for the current lineup of cars.

Not for nothing, but adding the Ferrari makes a bit of sense with the update. There's a Ferrari World at Yas Marina. Building the hype with the circuit and the announcement of the Round 1 event in Abu Dhabi, good marketing.

Mazda did the same with the RX-Vision GT3.

I don't think Ferrari World is actually visible anywhere in the game though, even in the Scapes. Ferrari is notoriously tricky with licensing.. .

It's in Yas Marina, near the circuit, just not directly on the circuit grounds. I'm saying it still associates the Ferrari brand.
I mean, Gilles Villeneuve drove for Ferrari. There's that association as well, but I'd think more so the Abu Dhabi Ferrari World connection.

I would; I'd rather not have the circuits if PD is gonna half-ass them like that. With the way they're so obsessed with attention to detail, I can't imagine stuff like that passing their quality check.

What do you mean? Making circuits in fictional locations isnt half-assing them. You can have a high quality circuit that isn’t in a readily identifiable location. Every circuit from Gran Turismo 1 fell into that category.

If we are talking about half-assing circuits - St Croix is already in the game. If they were that obsessed with attention to detail they wouldn't have sections of barriers sticking right out next to the racing line in several parts of the track.

The important thing is that it's a well designed track, trying to shoehorn it into a real location is secondary to me

Probably not, since it's not the C1, it's the Tokyo Expressway Central. Obviously inspired but it's hard to be upset that it's not a replica of something it doesn't claim to be. Much like the SSR7 was without any doubt a Wangan inspired track, and would be a nice addition to get back even though Tokyo East does the job reasonably well, but there never was any mention about the location.

Making original tracks in the middle of nowhere ala GT Sport wasn't what I was referring to; PD can make pretty much whatever track they'd like (given that tracks like Dragon Trail and Blue Moon Bay technically have a real location, but they're in fields and open spaces).

The problem was moreso PD making up a fictional city to create a new track, which, to be honest, they most definitely would do to make the process easier and because they are the one's that put themselves in a box with the way every track needed a very specific location on Earth; does that mean there's still hope for a proper Grand Valley Speedway instead of the re-imaging they did based on California?

No, only the Hyundai was announced to be coming to the game, in the next update I think they said. As a BMW fan I wish I could say the M4 GT3 was coming, but I can't.
That situation has got so dire that it's not only in Rocket League before Gran Turismo, but also Fortnite now.

TCRs are like GT3s - you'd license them from the manufacturer (Hyundai in this case) rather than a racing team or competition body like IMSA or modern WRC.

The Hyundai has no bearing on whether we get other TCRs or not other than showing manufacturers that PD are interested in them.

Well, Bugatti have a Gr.4 car without having a Gr.3 car, so it is possible for something like a Cupra Leon TCR to be a stand-alone race car for a brand (would probably come with the road car too if it happened).
I also recall Suzuki had a Gr.4 without a Gr.3 for a while, as the Suzuki Gr.3 was added later on in an update.
The requirement for having a car in each category (Gr.3 & Gr.4) is only a thing for if a brand wants to become eligible for the Manufacturer Series specifically.

The vibes vtubers and Gran Turismo give are so different so Sony sponsoring one from a popular vtuber company to promote GTWS is jarring but amusing to me. And it was a good idea because that's a good number of views and it probably got at least a few people interested
