Not directly GT7-impacting but relevant to the future: The Automobilista 2 devs have put out a post where they say, basically, that McLaren will no longer re-license their F1 cars to games that license F1 cars from any other manufacturers (they were meant to be adding some classic McLarens there). To quote them directly:

That would tell me that GT8 is likely losing the MP4/4 (or both the RA272 and W 196 R if PD think the MP4/4 is super important).
This has been a licensing thing for ages. FOM (might be FIA I don't recall which rule this bit) don't want an F1 car competing directly against a rival F1 car of another team in a non F1 licensed product.

It's already 'in effect' in GT7, look how many non licensed F1 cars we have.
The F1 cars we do have aren't directly competing and two of the three are from legacy outfits that don't exist in the same format of an F1 team (Mercedes-Benz and Honda) whereas we only have one that exists as it does today (the McLaren).

It's possible they won't return for GT8 but this isn't a new restriction so very likely already sorted out internally.

McLaren and video game licensing seem to be quite strange nowadays, first, the McLaren Senna isn't in FH6, second, Assoluto Racing will lose all of their McLarens, and now this.

Also, we're yet to have any new McLaren road or racing car in GT7 (excluding the MP4/4), with the P1 GTR currently being the latest McLaren model so far (650S Coupe for road cars), and yet with no P1 road car as of writing.

If next update we see a silhouette in the shape of the Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak, a car file datamined many years ago, then it might finally bring the track with it.

But the real life Pikes Peak International Hillclimb race isn't that far away. It's on the 21st of June. So they've missed their chance to add it to the game in the same month as the event, like they've done with the new Hypercars on Le Mans week.
They probably didn't want to steal the spotlight from the Hypercars being added, but having GT7 pods and a time trial only of Pikes Peak at the event would be a great promotional tool.

The only thing that makes me think this more strict implementation is new (as opposed to the standard "don't have competing modern cars rule" that as you say has been around for a while) is AMS2 are talking about having to remove their classic Lotuses and Brabhams if they keep the McLarens, which are even more loosely connected to modern F1 than GT's classics are.

PD certainly have resources Reiza don't though so as you say maybe it is sorted out already.

I would certainly welcome a new set of missions but I truly believe that all of those should have been integrated into a career mode, either through coffee breaks or championships (or even just plain bracket races for drag racing)

The new cars styles do not appear in gran-turismo.com showcase content search. It seems PD haven't update their website yet, and maybe it also have something to do with the stealth cars?

I can see them, but I never noticed “maker” before

FullForce update was the trigger for me to go from moza to fanatec. Before DD PRO was a bit meh and DD+ was a bit steep. Now I had perfect time to pull trigger on slightly used DD Pro just before the FullForce upgrade. Only thing that still would make Moza my choice on PC is the fact that it has the haptic feedback in all games as its based on existing signals, where FullForce only has support in couple games - luckily iRacing is one and I hope GT7 is soon the other one also for DD PRO. They also increased the holding torque of DD PRO from 6nm to 8nm - a perfect update.👍

Last I recall this conversation, it was FOM that specify this (Which is why it was fine having JUST the Ferrari F1 cars in GT5 and JUST the Mercedes in GT Sport).

Except Forza wasn't immune to this When the Lotus E22 was added to Forza 5, the Lotus E23 was added to Forza Motorsport 6 and the Renault R.S.17 was added to Forza Motorsport 7. No other current F1 cars were added with them all three times with the only other F1 cars not being from the same season.

Try actually adding to the conversation instead of resorting to attitude and unnecessary responses like this.

So PD could go the route of having one team's F1 car in GT7 (or any other future GT title) or just do a fictional one based on the new regulations then?

In regards to an actual current F1 car, Basically. Its what many developers without the official F1 license has done before (The BMW Sauber F1.08 in the original rfactor, the Ferrari SF70H in Assetto Corsa and so on).

Having a fictional F1 car is also an option should they choose.

The majority of footage & screengrabs displays torque in kgf-m, which I don't know the conversion to ft/lb offhand, followed by n-m which I do know.
1 N = 1 kg × 1 m/s^2
1 kgf = 1 kg × g = 1 kg × 9.8 m/s^2 = 9.8 N
1 kgf-m = 9.8 Nm ≈ 10 Nm

The problem is, the "limit to one brand of F1 car" rule always felt like it was unofficially limited to the early '90s or so, and anything before that was considered a classic that was allowed to be freely licensed.

FOM seems to have changed this definition very recently to now be all F1 cars of all ages regardless. AMS2 have a bunch of '70s and '80s Lotuses and Brabhams, and they are saying they will have to remove these (as well as their '00s Renaults) to keep the licensed McLarens they also have. Lotus and Brabham, of course, are not modern day F1 teams, so it follows that the new licensing restriction doesn't just cover modern teams.

If that is how the F1 license is being enforced now, it means when PD come to re-license their current cars, they'll have to pick one of the W196 R, RA272, and MP4/4 and drop the others.

This could be a sign... probably.
The 2026 event is on this weekend, so it's more likely just a nod to that. I think the last update also included a Pikes Peak photo scape location too?

It would be great to have the full Pikes Peak as a circuit (well, time trial location) in both paved and semi gravel forms in GT7, but i'm not going to hold my breath for it.
