Bit random to bring up, unless you have some inside information that suggests Polyphony intends to change the 20M car price cap?So...
The 20m credit cap for car valuation was first seen in Gran Turismo 5 in 2010. It was intended, sort of, to provide an "absolutely priceless" real-world context to some of the vehicles. The cap has persisted for 16 years now, by far the longest in the entire series, and continues to be the cap even in the Legends Dealer where cars are often adjusted to reflect real-life valuations per Hagerty.
Several 20m credit cars in the game are no longer anywhere near as inexpensive in the real world. An HDK-added McLaren F1 road car sold for $25m, the W196R sold for $55m, one 250 GTO sold at $62m, and Carroll Shelby's own Shelby Daytona - like the one we're currently time-trialling - just sold for $42m including fees.
We know* we've got an update coming this week which at least changes physics (due to the one-week time trial), normally suggesting that it's a more significant update.
Given the above, and the game's 100m (free) credit limit, what odds we'll see a change to the 20m car valuation cap - if not in this update but relatively soon/within GT7's lifetime?
*as much as we can ever
They will also know such a change would be met with severe backlash, as a lot of people already hate how expensive cars can be. Kaz even had to make an apology statement which covered the topic of car prices near the start of GT7's life, and adjusting event payouts to help a bit.
So I highly doubt they would take that risk.
Welcome to page 1689 though.
