I love how just the announcement of the Spec III download and what it includes, already has more replies than the actual update that dropped yesterday.

I wonder if the collector level number will incorporate cars we own, retroactively. Like, most of us probably hit 50 eons ago... wondering if it'll update automatically or it will only update on cars purchased after the update. Presuming the former as it makes the most amount of sense.

Dropping Xmas day? Always busy right near Xmas. Would love it if it was like a week before but I am so looking forward to it I aint gonna complain either way.

It does keep track of your collector "score" after level 50 already, so I'm sure it'll work retroactively.

Now I'm really curious to see if the "1.64" in the trailer was just a goof, or if we are really getting no other update for the next 3 months. It would be a weirdly long gap considering the usual pace of updates. That would kind of diminish Spec 3 as a big update, as it would just be 3 months worth of updates delivered at the end of a 3 month block, and then 8 cars suddenly isn't that much anymore.

With Christmas scheduling, I wonder what it means for the Ferrari team in the year-end GTWS World Finals replica race, then - or if the Ferrari team would even use the 296 GT3 at World Finals.

(Remember Nissan running the 2018 GT-R at 2022 World Finals after running the 2013 car all year long?)

They are, of course, the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi and the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Canada.

and two tracks, data logging, new events, plus whatever else they’re adding that they haven’t told us about…

If it is Christmas (and specifically, if it is after the 20-21 Dec GTWS finals) that definitely makes me think them having the GTWS at the Fukuoka Mobility Show is because there will be some kind of car reveal at said motor show for the game.

I can't understand why the announcement is so hyped.

If I understand the information here in the forum correctly, the next update won't be Spec III until 3 months from now.
Normally, we get 3 cars per month. So, according to the normal plan, we'd have 9 cars by the end of December.
Now we're only getting 8, and yes, two additional tracks.
But they were more than overdue anyway.

I wrote this before: what's coming doesn't deserve the name Spec III yet. There's far too much missing content.

It almost seems like PD is trying to buy time with the announcement to finish something that should have come sooner.
Maybe the Xiaomi?

To cut a long story short, for a major update it's okay but for a Spec III it's just not enough to make me happy.

What dawned on you?
He was joking about how quickly the year seems to have passed.

"Spec" updates aren't about content, but about changes to the game's functionality and experience.

Aside from cars (seven) and tracks (one, with three layouts and six variations) Spec II added Weekly Challenges, the Dashboard, and Master Licences.

Aside from cars (eight) and tracks (two, with unknown layouts and variations but up to six) Spec III will add extended Collector Levels, revamped Weekly Challenges (including new event types), the Data Logger, the mysterious "Seasonal Menu", and the permanent Invitations.

It's true that I'm a little perplexed about this spec 3 apart from the circuits nothing really exciting no gt sophy nor rain conditions nor hud correction for the psvr 2 nor mission or endurance race or evolution in the solo mode!!

Btw. I saw it first on YouTube video thumbnail from a well known clickbaiter (kireth his name) so I didn't care and didn't click. But then more videos about GT7 big news started popping off and then like I was wtf.

Ok now I need to prepare good chunk of money to prepare for this neat update.

When people buy the PS5 version of the game in December, along with a PSVR2, they'll have so much to do. Especially including My First Gran Turismo for the extra cars.

*New Tracks:
Looking forward to them. Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve a bit my preference as I think it will suit more for racing any class, whereas Yas Marina will be more suited for the Gr.1 -> Gr.3 cars. A new endurance grind at Yas Marina in a Gr.1 and a Gr.3-Gr.4 one at Gilles-Villeneuve would be great, but for now I'm just hoping they'll get some love and there are more than 3 sprint races at each.
More than one lay-out for Yas Marina may be a stretch

*New Cars:

Ferrari 296 GT3 - Yes! An updated Gr.3! Always nice, can't wait to drive it...
Mitsubishi FTO - Ok, cool, cool! Memories from older GT games coming in. Will try to make a replica of the FTO LM from GT2!
Mine's R34 - Really cool car, drove it a lot in GT4 I think.
F1 - Please be a V10, please be a V10, please be V10,.....
Probably the Xiaomi as the 5th one - meh
other 3 cars I have no clue, but a new hypercar (Peugeot 9X8, Ferrari 499P,...) would be nice.
Going from the leaked car list I would like: Bugatti Type 37A, one of the Lancia (037 or Delta S4) and Audi RS6.

*New circuit experience events:
Probably just the new tracks and maybe another reset on the leaderboards if the physics change?
Not really a major deal since a new track automatically gives a circuit experience...

*Collector level cap increase:

Hoping for some adjustments in the roulette then. Example: Lvl 60+ is no more 3-star daily, Lvl 70+ no more 4-star etc...
That would give me only 6-star tickets every day lol
Permenant invitation is not something I need, since I have all the invite cars.. But nice for newer player, less fortunate at the roulette!

*Weekly Challenges update:
This I'm looking forward to! No more 2 lap sunday cup sprints, but proper challenges! Circuit expercience with another car , I like it! One lap magic, oh missions from GT4 come to mind. This can be good!!

*Seasonal menu:
No clue, so wait and see...

*Data logger:

Think this can be a PS5 exclusive, like sophy, but it can be handy to see what you are doing wrong in the online time trials...

All in all, lots I'm looking forward to. Some things are wait and see but this is major, and unexpected! I like:)

I'm wondering if there's going to be an overhaul to Sophy in the game for Spec III. Imagine Sophy is the normal AI throughout the game from here on out or Sophy is available for all track configurations?

One can dream, but my god would that breathe some much needed life back in the game alongside what they're already doing now.

I hope that wasn't an attempt to convince me.

- The level increase should have happened in 2023.

- The data logger was already there in GT 5 or 6 and isn't necessarily an added value.

- Sorry, but removing a built-in bug like "Invitations to Purchase" doesn't exactly make me happy. I simply expect something like that, and it should have happened much earlier. Who hasn't experienced getting that stupid invitation with a 5* ticket, even though they already had the car?

- The weekly races could have been changed without much fuss. They're just more special races. Where is the possibility of running them permanently as brand races, e.g., under the missions?

- The seasonal races could be interesting. But PD is PD. So we'll have to wait and see. No reason for hype.

Never knew Interlagos would be the precursor to the newest GT trend of adding racing circuits found near by cities to make up for the inability of creating fictional but real-life city circuits like days past. That's what G-V and Yas Marina feel like to me. Is Albert Park next, pretty please?

/tinfoil hat sarcasm

This is an awesome announcement and I cannot wait for the release of everything coming up soon.

I personally wish they can refresh the UI and BGM at the same time too to make the game feel not old.

This is great newssssss!!! At last new tracks! and they are real ones! the level top altough it doesnt change the game, is something i always asked for. the nos caducity invitations are another little good change. Telemetry! great!

I'm not saying it completely nullifies it. There's still some good content in there.

I'm just saying that if you imagine the same content spread out over 3 updates, one per month, it wouldn't be considered that special. Sure, they'd be some of the better updates, but not massive game changers.

Of course we'll have to see what else is added, and some of the additions are a bit vague in what they mean, and could be really great.

In the end I'm still quite happy with this. It's just a little bit disappointing to then "lose" 2 monthly updates over it.

At the moment I'm reserving some conclusions on that one as I'd been told something slightly different (without specifics) and we've seen errors on subtitles/disclaimers before...

... like "PlayStation 5 Exclusive"

Much like other circuits in the game with multiple layouts, just a case of moving a few barriers and tyre walls. All contained within the same environment/location.

Same. That's why I said in my original post that I wonder whether it's a little goof.
It feels a bit weird anyway to already have a version number for an update that's 3 months away. Just requiring a single emergency bugfix would already mess up the version number from the trailer.

I'm excited for this new update and cautiously hoping that there is more coming that has yet to be announced. It might be safe to assume that there will be a tire model update coming, for better or worse lol.

- I'd love for the implementation PSVR2 to be completed. I have some hope because PSVR2 development was announced for MS Flight sim... So maybe Sony is still requesting developers to utilize the headset... 🙏🏽.

- I know this is highly unlikely but if we can get Sophy into multiplayer lobbies... That'd be a godsend.
