I always considered the endless variants of individual cars to be a very "Gran Turismo" quirk. If this is only the second R32 in the game, that's surprising to me.

I think the variants make the used car dealership feel a lot more dynamic. Just like real life, you have to dig through the haystack to find the needle you're looking for.

The history behind the car is the reason for its inclusion. It doesn't matter if the appearance can be recreated in GT Auto, or if the weight and HP can match the real car via tuning parts - the R32 Skyline GT-R Nismo is a piece of automotive history (it doesn't hurt that it happens to be on one of Kaz's favorite chassis ever).

If you don't understand why certain cars are included for historical reasons, you don't understand Gran Turismo, and never will. And that's okay - there's plenty of other games out there for you to play. For the true automotive enthusiast, we appreciate the tiny details.
There's plenty of historically significant cars sorely missing from GT7 that's not another R32. For the true automotive enthusiast, we appreciate a wide variety of cars.

At least, the R32 wheels are close to looking like the SSRs on the Group A car.

ALL GT awards from SEMA cars should be on the game.

Currently we have them since '12 with the Mach Forty and all the other years since 2012, sans 2017 which is a Honda Civic EX

I think the Civic gets released for GT7 still.

But what about the Pozzi Camaro? The Red Devil? from GT6, the older ones such as AEM S2000, the Golf, G37 with the PS3 inside, Art Morrison C1 which I loved?

Why are those premium models just gone?

I meant GT6.

The industry as a whole has also grown since then. There's a lot more enthusiast cars that people have come to desire in the last 10 years that's not another R32. Especially when the small visual differences between the models could easily have been custom parts in GT Auto and, similarly, the Tuning Shop exists to make up for any differences in performance.
GT6 has a lot more duplicates than GT4, since they merged the car lists from the different regional versions of previous games and since some models had both standard and premium versions. The R32, for example, exists in around 10 different versions in GT6.

Why do you believe it’s better to add the new version of the car as a bunch of special parts and tuning options than as a separate car?

The Ford Maverick produces 1200HP? That's going to be a wild experience indeed.

I'd rather PD not have spent time and resources adding duplicates in any form. Especially not with a "3 per month" live service trickle.

When the game launched with GT Auto and the Tuning Shop, the existing R32 should ideally have had the Nismo bumper and side skirts as options to begin with.

Even without them, players were happily building Group A replicas with what's already in the game judging by the pages upon pages of the Calsonic R32 in the Showcase. What does this new R32 really add? Historical significance? The actual Group A race car would have far more significance.

My point was that adding duplicates is understandable when you've run out of other cars that could reasonably be added to the game. GT7 hasn't reached that point.

The argument can be made that there's less time and work involved in churning out duplicates, allowing the devs to work on more cars/content. Is that what it takes to get, on balance, 3 cars per update?

Why I say I don’t mind acquiring the cars to some extent is PC2 if I remember correctly you could grab whatever car you wanted online, and that took a little fun out of it. It’s rewarding to do some races and buy some cars. It’s not rewarding to do some races, buy some cars and see the cars you really want and realize it’s going to take a lot of grinding and racing the same races over and over and over.

In my opinion the biggest flaw of GT7 is it doesn’t draw me into single player besides NEEDING to earn money. I don’t like the AI(it’s pretty bad and lifeless), I despise the chase the rabbit style races, limited events as in I have some cars I literally can’t use and I just find it boring overall. I don’t have all the cars but I already have cars I don’t drive which is fine I can sell them but at $15,000 average that ain’t going to gain me many credits.

I guess for myself, having to earn cars isn’t what’s kept me playing the game at all. Racing with others has kept me playing the game, physics updates, you name it, new cars new track. New menu races or whatever they’re called are neat but they don’t take long. New tracks is really where it’s at.

One thing that I think would be cool would be a multiplayer championship, if I could load up with a friend and we race the AI (even if its chase the rabbit) that could be cool. That would get me playing single player or I guess two player. Sometimes we race single player at the same time, same race just to try to feel like we aren’t playing the game alone. Or they could just add AI into online multiplayer.
I agree with your sentiments (especially new tracks), I'm only enjoying it post grind, as the single player for no legit reason was too narrow and really repetitive. A restructure of the game would be welcome I would prefer all car classes having campaign races at every track, an even credits per mile structure, all cars available from the start, progression being about unlocking upgrades / customisations based on distance driven / championships won with each individual car. Its strange a game with such sublime gameplay, has had a structure that genuinely detracts from enjoyment. If the same level of care they put into the physics and aesthetics was put on the AI and single player it would be so much better. Im hoping SOPHY is the remedy for both these issues. I think having a scalable AI would allow the game to fit around an any car / upgrade level / track combo for a good single player experience. They have made a rod for their own back by having such a diverse range of variations to make a one size fits all algorithm (it boggles my mind thinking of all the permutations). Flexibility for the end user is the grail, and to a degree custom races offers this, but the campaign flexibility was absent.

i wish next one is GR1 cars, like new Porsche peugout and ferrari
Gran Turismo must focus on lemans GR1 cars
Crap update for me
Its would be nice, and it would mean we have a group of cars relevant to each other, so we dont have to race against unbalanced LMPs and Group 3s

As far as I know, this car is a different version. Based on the R32 Nismo, the Group A version was a track day oriented car, designed to mimic the performance of the Group A touring car. It's a very limited edition.
Here’s an optional parts brochure. Now, I rethinkinhg those wheels in the above pic. Compared to the silhouette

The R32 Nismo was also built in limited numbers (560 iirc) as an homologation special for Group A racing purposes. Later Nismo offered some parts that were exclusive to the Nismo version for R32 owners who wanted their cars to look closer to the racing R32s.

Please check https://gtr-registry.com/en-r32-gtr-nismo.php for further information.

I would say that this Nismo R32 will fit in the LCD roster, but, cars like the RS500, the Stratos and the e30 M3 Sport Evo were homologation specials, built in limited numbers are in the UCD, ao I don't know what will PD do.

Do you not think that time and resources spent on either of these might be the same?
But then again licensing can include aftermarket parts to cars on having these as options to add to one car to turn them into multiple variations is probably that's why we have "duplicates" that enrages you so

I really only care for paddle shift cars. The immersion in VR with the GPRO setup is superb.
Less so with a stick shift version. Until Logitech releases GPRO shifter box add-on

I was just thinking about the wheels in the first post. Comparing the 3-piece style of that road car to the Group A version. However, from the silhouette, the wheels in the brochure, look closer to the bottom pic.
The video I posted show the NISMO with the same wheels as the normal GT-R. We’ll soon see what it looks like.

But but, it’s “the same car“ losing to itself.:sly::cool:
But surely the Nismo would be the better version since it's 30kg lighter with aluminium fenders, tuned ECU and a more powerful exhaust?? Wtf?? Unless the guy driving the Nismo was a less skilled driver...

Nismo skyline r32 might have more upgrades pontential, if thats the case, i can see it as good thing,

If their is no buyable engine swaps and special parts this month i think i wait to play next month, and play ac for another month, but it would be perfect timing to bring all those special parts, like all ultra rpm turbo chargers for all remaining cars, now when see a custom tuned r32

They’ve literally ruined the game having such poor payouts compared to the main three. If all races including online, sport, any world circuit challenge and custom races paid out as well as the main three… the game would be fixed imo. Yes we need more tracks and better AI, much better AI but at least there would be incentive to race ANY race you felt like racing at the time.

I guess it depends on your priorities and how much you care. Call of Duty, people play shipment over and over to unlock guns and camo quickly. I couldn’t be bothered, I’m still using the first gun they gave me (i do quite well too!) but I just don’t care if I unlock other guns, we could all be using the same gun for all I care. But with GT7 I have an interest in buying these expensive vintage cars and more than one if possible! So in a sense those people that need their guns and camo unlocked, I see why they put themselves through playing the same map over and over again. Only thing is, I can’t seem to race Sardegna or LeMans more than once a week, I’ve been trying other challenges but the credits don’t add up fast for your time. Hmmm race with family and friends online or by myself trying to earn money, no thanks single player.

Such a shame the way they’ve handled payouts.

You can use their current shifter with the Pro wheel and adapter.

Is that heavy modded 1200 bhp Ford manual stick shift or automatic / paddle shift fitted

Always loved the timing for these updates here in Aus at 6pm. And for everyone just before the weekend.

Aw man that image got me so excited, I thought this was some kind of announcement of a new spec for 80s/90s touring cars. I would kill for a Daily Race D dedicated to them, add a roll cage/racing seats to a lot of the factory 80s/90s Japanese/German/UK cars and you're pretty much there, we just need a way to shift the classification from road car 'Nxxx' to a new 'TC' class.
