Hi all im really new too gt5 and could do with some helpful tips and suggestions on cars to buy thanks in advance

Use the "search forum" in here n type in whatever questions you have (more than likely theyve already been asked lol).....my personnal opinion on car buying is just based off of what cars u like. Most races will tell you the requirements to race in them so its all up to your preference as to what car you want to race with. Just tune them up to a higher bhp than your opponents and the rest is up to your driving abilities. Best of luck

do some license test and some special events first, some events give you cars if you finished within certain targets. i.e. You will win a Kart, after you reached a certain level, then you dun have to buy one to participate the kart experience special event.

Are you new to GT series or new to virtual driving in general?

If you're new to virtual driving, I'd start off with something easy. A front-drive car with low power. When I first started virtual racing years ago, I picked up a game called Ford Racing. This was on the PS1. This game has you drive a series of cars (Mustang, Focus, etc) but it starts you off at the very bottom: the Ford Ka. Something like 70 or 80 horsepower. Even though I was moving very slowly, it helped me learn racing lines and stuff like that. If that game just put me in a Mustang or a F-150 I would have been losing it in every turn.

If you're new to the GT series (or GT5) but have tried some other racing games I'd still start off in something slower. Get the feel of the game first. Do the license tests so you know what GT5 expects of you to get GOOD at it.

Also do all the Seasonal events, insane amount of exp and credits for very little work. (unlocked at 15 or something)

buy what you like.. try and get through the challenges and licenses and you will amass a pile of credits, as well as win a number of cars.. whilst they may not be your first choice in cars they will get you a good way into the game..

try and avoid buying cars you will win.. there's a thread which details what you can win..

I have played driving games ever since i can remember i have tried with other gt titles but i've always given up because i just wanted to race not go through the route of gaining licences! i got gt5 for christmas and its fair to say i love it but im currently stuck fast i have one more set of races to finish off the begginners class but the used car market is not showing anything i can buy that will allow me too compete i have been waiting nearly a week now!

Doing the licenses, special events, and the A and B-spec events will win you a lot of cars needed to progress. For a while I only bought cars I wanted, that weren't needed for progression, and used cars I won to continue in the game.

My suggestion would be to NOT complete this game in linear fashion, ie. all beginner races, all intermediate races, etc. Let the game take you all over; do some licenses, do some races, take on the special events as you level up to them. I would suggest, however, doing the seasonal events as soon as you can...if you forget about them, they expire and you lose out on the possible points and EXP. In addition, you get to drive some cars you might otherwise not buy, like the Focus ST or FD RX7 from earlier seasonal events. Early on, don't worry about buying cars unless you really see ones you MUST have. Soon enought, you'll have a surplus of money and can start buying pretty much anything you want.

Ah, I see. A word of advice (2 words actually).

1). License tests actually help you in the long run, assuming you want to get good. If you don't wanna do licenses, Arcade mode is probably your best bet.

2). Capitalize the word "I" when referring to yourself. When you joined this site, you signed an acceptance agreement which tells you you're supposed to attempt decent grammar as you type. No offence, just telling you..
