Just to talk about this week's update for a second, in among the Auto News and cakes, here's something I dunked in the article that doesn't seem to have been picked up...
As for Part 1, that arrives on Thursday October 15, and it's likely to be a decent-sized download and — as with 1.54 and Spec III — feature a preload period too.
In both previous cases it was 24hr, so maybe we'll see something on Wednesday...

The inclusion of specific models in the Gran Turismo series is driven by Polyphony Digital's preferences, player demand, and manufacturers' interest in promoting particular cars. There are also practical constraints regarding the temporal, geographical, and financial availability of the physical vehicles needed to create these digital replicas.

While this remains speculative, as the exact motivations behind Polyphony's timing are rarely public, it is worth noting (IMHO) that the relaunch of the Citroën 2CV may well have prompted the brand to encourage the addition of the classic 2CV to the game.
I also have a feeling that the Ferrari F355 Berlinetta that was added in Spec IV, Part 1, alongside Sugo, is not only a reference to the Sega arcade game, F355 Challenge, but also coincides with the fact that this year is the 30th anniversary of Jamiroquai's Cosmic Girl, where the music video famously features the Lamborghini Diablo (albeit the SE30), alongside the Ferrari F40 and F355.

Will be interesting to see what events get added with Sportsland SUGO in just a few days.
Especially if there's a WTC 900 or not, as that could have implications for future car content, whether within Spec IV or at a completely seperate point in the future.
We know that Polyphony held off from adding a Gr.1 event at Le Mans until the Hypercar update for example, so they might be doing something similar if SUGO doesn't have a WTC 900 on day 1.
If it does have one though, then newer GT500 machinery can probably be ruled out for a long time.
It would already be a bit odd for them not to be added alongside SUGO in October if they were a part of Spec IV at all, unless Polyphony felt like saving them as the "heavy-hitters" to reveal in December.

There should be at least 1 big headline car that is yet to be revealed for December, of the 5 remaining unknowns, regardless of if it's GT500's or not.
Autumn Ring has already been revealed, so that wouldn't be a big headline if they just re-announce it.
There's a marketing element of "save the best for last" so that the December car reveal doesn't fall flat compared to October.
I'm looking forward to the GT World Series Finals, which would be the most obvious place to reveal the remaining cars and announce something to get the audience to go crazy. :D
Not that it would be that likely, but it would be a great time to announce Lotus. Aside from that I'm not really sure who else would really Wow the crowd lol. Or maybe some kind of new Red Bull X car, maybe the RB17 for the finale??

I hope cars from the current update will be :D
Now you're being greedy.

I'm greedy too.

It's also the 30th anniversary of The Rock, which features a car chase with a Hummer and an F355, and that's exactly as relevant: not.

Do you know this for sure? Maybe Kaz is just a massive fan of Nic Cage and Michael Bay (as everyone should be).

It's been confirmed in three different official channels as Thursday October 15th. There is little need to imagine that it won't be the case.
How long does it usually take for the maintenance news to come out?

But thanks for reassuring me, I took a vacation on Thursday………

Ive always really liked the F355. Frankly they could add every Ferrari in existence and I'd be all for it. Test drive Ferrari wasnt a great game but the car list was outstanding and covered so many types of racing and had so many awesome cars. I would like some more Ferrari f1 cars from the 70s and 80s but probably harder to license. Give us one of the 70s prototypes too (like the 512s or 512m)

I suspect that version had artificial boost, meaning higher speed&acceleration than possible in the GT7 physics, but this is just speculation from my side. If that AI Sophy version was in GT7 for player testing, some experts would soon know the real factual truth by doing lots of trial&error tests.
I mean, it certainly seemed that way off the line but it wouldnt surprise me. Even the mere fact that the Ai can operate the controls much faster than a real driver ever could alone is cheating in my opinion. Unless im wrong about that and they did simulate the speed at which a driver could turn a wheel or press a pedal.

Also those of us who have F355 Challenge on the Dreamcast

(or some device that sometimes thinks it’s a Dreamcast)

I always loved the sound of the F355s in the Challenge game for D.C.
I was lucky enough to play it in one of those sit down, tri-screen arcade cabs at an amusement park over 20 years ago, albeit with the shift knob removed.

Totally awesome experience and now I feel it necessary to take a 355 out fer a spin at Sugo when this wicked update drops soon!

Tick, tock, tick, tock... maintenance has been annonuced:
It's going to be fun to drive Sugo in multiple weathers and times of day!! I hope there's a night or almost-night option! When there's no midnight option I switch the time lapse to 30x so it gets as dark as possible with the R07 weather preset! (R08 weather clouds are too gloomy at night for me!)

Finally Get to TUNE THE STEPWGN a honda Suv/Minivan that i can finally tune to probably 600pp
If you can get 570bhp into it, sure! If it releases with the typical K20C1 swap, it could be a good laugh at 600pp. Lack of rear wheel power will make it hard to compete with a well-tuned Alphard, and if upgrades to the CVT make it an adjustable CVT rather than a fully customisable 5/6 speed it'll really be in trouble.
I think it would be the first CVT-equipped car in GT7 to get an engine swap, assuming it gets one.

From what I can find, the drivetrain of this STEPWGN Spada is very similar to the eCVT in the 'CR-V e:HEV EX • BE' from a few updates ago. Honda's LFA1 (wagon) and LFB-H4 (CR-V) have nearly identical specs, so I'm expecting a series* hybrid simulation again with no fuel mapping or range estimate on the UI.

*eHEV does switch between series and parallel hybrid under high speed cruising conditions in the real world, I couldn't detect this in-game while racing. It seems to have electric torque at all times while the engine stays at a set RPM as a generator.

edit: If the 30th anniversaries of The Rock and Cosmic Girl have influence over Spec IV part 1, then surely the 26th anniversary of Mission: Impossible II will bring the EF Falcon to Spec IV part 2.:D
