My fastest time with the GTO at Tsukuba in stock trim was a high 1:06 which puts it within a second of the S2000.

It's as fast, slightly faster actually, than the Audi TT 3.2 '03.

This car has 6 gears, right?

No, but I saw it moving several times in chase cam. Seemed to work appropriately.

The rear wing moving is even more noticeable when looking out the rear window in interior cam. Basically the animation happening in plain sight.

Yeah, that GTO is indeed a 5-speed.

I never really thought much for the S2000 in GT5 and GT6, but my mind was changed when I drove it yesterday. I couldn't believe how well it handled. The car is so well balanced and so well tuned that you can easily push the car to the limit. It's also one of the best sounding cars in the game. I never thought that a Honda could put such a massive smile on my face.

I must also add that the S13 is a great drift car. I gave it a horsepower boost to 394 HP and all it wanted to do was slide. But what I noticed was a huge amount of turbo noise and large amounts of backfire with this horsepower increase. The car didn't do that with the regular power output. It completely transformed the experience and made the car much more of a handful.

Thank you to the rain versions for showing me how ridiculous the AI is, PD legit needs to fix them

My opinions on the rain weather are starting to change now that I drove over 100km under it with the new cars of the update, but I already noticed a couple of issues with it that needs addressing, if PD cares enough about them:

-There's no dry racing lines that forms up during the duration of the race, I suppose this is because the weather is static;

-There's many open top cars that don't put their tops up before the racing, not exactly a problem until then, but you race and realise that the rain drops are not hitting the interior of the cars, this is quite a noticeable oversight;

-Moreover, in some cars there are no rain droplets in the windshield, the Chaparral 2X is one of these cars with this issue;

-Apparently the puddles in the track are just for show, I haven't noticed any grip reduction when driving over them...Well atleast there's no puddles in hills like a certain other "racing sim"...

-The amount of rain in the track is specifically tied to the time of day you choose to race, so if you want to race at 4:45am under heavy rain, it won't be possible...You can thank the pre-baked lighting system for that, it looks incredibly realistic but it has its price;

-There's no indication at all that the weather you race is of "heavy" rain or "light" rain, I had to figure out on my own that the weather at 10:45 is "heavy", which calls of the rain racing tires, instead of the intermediate tires.

Minor nitpicks:

-The rear window wiper is not used, even on coupes that could do with having them activated, like the GTO;

-The windshield wiper still can't be toggled on or off if you're playing on a DS4, it's turned on by default;

-The wiper speeds are not dynamic, they don't increase when you're driving under heavy water spray, neither they don't intermittently turn on when you pull over...We had that in GT5 even with predefined static weather.

With all of this being said, I'm warming up to this new addition to the game, it's free after all, even though there's room for improvements.

I still want my Interlagos soaked with rain though, that has to happen.

@05XR8 - does the rear active aero also work?

I can confirm that it does.

Have you got a pic?

Got it right here :

Just came here to post this:

My next curiosity is the 4WS system. I've read and talked to people with the game (unfortunately I don't) - and it's effect comes quite noticeable despite not being visually shown. However talking to @Grand Prix, the same can't be said for the R32 which is usually known as the more noticeable system, being popular to remove for better steering feel. I'm wondering if this representation is an experiment of sorts to be slowly trickled down to other cars in the game.

there was no spa tweet or spa race in new york either must have been fake news rofl

I believe I remember Jimmy B even said on the live broadcast something along the lines of “new content seen at the event isn’t guaranteed to be in the immediate following update, so be careful with expectations as that’s been a problem in the past”. It was early in either the Manufacturer or Nations stream, don’t remember which and don’t know the time code. I’m guessing but it was probably shortly before the Spa superpole quali session in Nations.

I think this happens specifically on this car because it doesn’t actually have a windshield, it’s all cameras relaying the visibility to a screen. I don’t know where they’re placed but they’re likely too small (and uncommon) to warrant designing separate rain effects. Not sure what other cars you found to have this problem but they’ll all probably have less of an excuse.

Rant:

My expectation: - new cars, spa (since they teased it), rain mode for all tracks (waiting for this since red bull wet has been going public, we skipped 1 month for this)

Reality: - new cars, NO new track, rain mode for...only 1 track lol

What a morning letdown

rain mode for all tracks
Considering the size of the update, if most of that was the wet conditions, getting all tracks to be wet would never happen in a single update. It would be like downloading a whole new game. Kind of happy they may be taking it one at a time.

And Spa was never confirmed for the update so all people have are assumptions. Considering they teased wet conditions last month and now we have them, my guess is September update you will get your Spa.

It was never said rain was coming to all tracks, it was only ever shown and confirmed to come to the Red Bull Ring, also Spa was never confirmed to be on this update.

It's just a nice low fat wide massive looking thing. Just that 4th and 5th gear. Maybe there will be a fix for it. I have found it builds speed quicker by short shifting 4th and 5th. It's also slightly quicker than the STI in Nations Free Practice, at Sardegna.

Oh yeah, feels very light and nimble.

Tbh I was expecting to be racing in the rain on Spa. Naive I admit, or still too hopeful. Different game engine I guess. DC got the rain update for all tracks at once. I guess the rain is just as pre-baked as the lighting in GTS, what a waste of disk space! I just deleted DC to have enough room to download the update lol.

Dynamic time and weather in GT5 and GT6, GTS is still behind. Hopefully next gen it will all be dynamic again so we don't have to wait so long for track updates.

Nice addition to finally have rain, hot lapping and taking photos in itself will keep me busy for a long time.

Still surprised we have all these updates for free, 2 full years of updates and all free of charge!

Spa is coming soon and if I'm honest I would be happy with having that and a few more cars as the final content update so the team can fully focus on gt7 so when it releases it's a bit more complete than Sport was on release day.

Behind when it comes to features, sure, but way ahead when it comes to visual quality. GTS is arguably the most photo realistic racing game out there, because of or thanks to the lack of dynamic weather and day/night cycles.

Both the tracks and cars are well future proof now though, so for next gen they can once again implement dynamic effects while at the same time keep or even improve the frame rate. As the sucker for graphics that I am, I can’t wait!

I hope Spa-Francorchamps arrives with rain conditions. After having waited so long for it I will be seriously frustrated if it is omitted. I would not be in the slightest bit surprised...

The rain effects are a very welcome new challenge. After 61,000km of dry driving I was allover the road on my first couple of laps. I tried each of the new cars then went up through the performance categories.
I finished 2nd in the SuperGT race after having about 124 spins. It was great fun though.

I will use the steering wheel from this evening though.

I would like to reduce the sound of the rain when behind another car as it sounds like a waterfall even at very low speeds. Also, the bumper camera, which I only experiment with, should have rain effects like the windscreen.

We have september (Spa probably) and october (Michelin) to come but I asume we are arriving at the end of the free DLC support. I think Christmas could be the grand finale and put GTSport on version 2.0 but that is pure speculation....

I hope the servers of this game doesn't shut down yet after the last free updates.
