Nope.

It depends on what you call “substantial”, but I think the top 3 finishers actually do each get to keep a prize in the form of a trophy worth 150 USD. I took this pic on 14 January of this year when going through the registration process for the World Series’ Online Qualifiers, I think it’s just the trophy Kaz awards to the podium finishers at the end of each round:

Although I doubt they would be able to recoup even the equivalent price of a VGT in-game, in the unfortunate scenario that one decides to sell his trophy.

(Oh look, somebody who actually reads the T&Cs for something that he’ll probably never be involved in!)

Relax, you have to June 8 (08:59 UTC) to watch the in-game stream and the cars will be given in the next update.
