we share the same opinion! with the performance of the ps3 and blu ray disc's it could have been possible to actually create the marjor cities of the world into that game. Maybe New York is just the BEGINNING of the game and we're going to see more of the world maybe :dopey:

And I also agree with what you just said!, Rockstar are probably just teasing us and the game may just start in NY... who knows, there maybe other locations maybe all over the world like those movies that go to all sorts of exotic places! This is what Blue Ray was born for! Lets hope they make the most of it!

This isn't the same Liberty City you're thinking of Robin. As one of our members said, GTAIII was a generalization of NYC. There really wasn't that many things represented from NYC in it except the church, Times Squre, Central Park, Stauton Island (though the real name is different), and a little more. It didn't even represent NYC to its fullest in anything.

This one though, will. It's being rumoured (as many things) that we'll get all FIVE boroughs of NYC. I'm pretty sure we didn't even get 3 boroughs in GTAIII in a general form.

Yeah I do agree with what your saying and I know Liberty City was VERY loosley based on the real NY and this experience will be quite different but after playing through GTA3 and LCS it would be nice to maybe see somewhere other than just New York and America (no offense) and go to different global cities, but as has been said this is just a really quick trailer and im sure theres going to be more than just NY.

As for the boroughs im sure they are probably aiming to do the whole thing and maybe even the countryside in upstate New York.. we will have to see.

One thing I did like was the realtime lighting that came through the skylight and reflected off the dust in the air and changed its position as the day went on... that was really cool... but I still think the people look very plastic.

i guess we can all speculate about where gta 4 will take place in the end, but whatever we say, probably something completly different will turn out:D

i'm looking forward to anything which come with gta4. :) 👍

I always wondered why they were black instead of blue, I also heard that some missions were changed or removed because of the attacks. I doubt this will affect gta4 though as its been several years and theres no reason to include ground sero anyways IMO. With all this dynamic shadow its going to be completely different standing in the midst of many tall buildings! thats one thing missing from any of the other GTAs downtowns.

Well, it still seems some idiots think we won't be able to fly planes in NYC, because they seem to think it will piss New York off that Rockstar will let people fly planes however they want, even into buildings.

Then again, these people are from the same forum where 1 guy thinks San Andreas' Hot Coffee was not sueable because it was protected under Freedom of Speech in the First Amendment.

I hope the game is only set in Liberty City, and nowhere else. Trying to branch out and cover everything is what made San Andreas my least favourite GTA location on the PS2. They need to do one city, and nail it.

That's a fair point 👍 Let's hope that whatever they do with the city(ies), R* keep the high quality we expect from them. Personally i'm still hoping for multiple cities with very different styles.

Yup, I'd rather a huge, well designed Liberty City (with a nice amount of countryside/parklands thrown in for tooling around in) around it than trying to go overboard with trying to spread it out all over the planet.

I think 2 cities, or a city and a town would be best. Perhaps starting in the town and progressing towards the big city with some countryside inbetween.

The one thing I do miss most from GTA:SA, is the lack AI planes at the airport. They seem like complete ghost towns.

I think considering that they did pretty well in SA IMO, they can do two cities really well with country side, the key is have it so you leave one city by flying to a corner of the map and then the next city loads up. the thing about SA was that having all those big cities so close together was somewhat unrealistic

I can't believe there are people who are arguing about rape if it is in the game?

Their excuse is that we kill people in the game, then why is rape any worse?
Couple sickos at GTAForums.

Exactly. Besides, don't rule out having Portland, Staunton Island and Shoreside Vale being brought back again and enlarged, which will basically be like having three cities in the first place.

I love the trailer. It leaves you in suspense and doesn't give too much away, whilst actually breaking down the trailer, you get a big insight into the city, a few minor improvements, the graphics (very nice), the size of the game, the time-frame (present day), the things Rockstar kept/brought back (like Cluckin' Bell and by the looks of it, Lips 106) some cool new touches (like the driver fixing his rearviewmirror, leaving stuff on the ground, possibly children, grass actually being 3D and also female police officers) and a few possibilities (rollercoasters? a ferris wheel? seasons?).

I love the [supposed] main character. Something fresh, different and not expected at all. Besides, since he is most likely Russian, he will most likely deal with the Russian Mafia, which gets big thumbs up from me. The voice of this character is also most likely the main Russian character from the movie 15 Minutes, which may also have an influence on the actual game, apparantly.

The biggest possibility gathered from the trailer from my point of view is the possibility of seasons. There are air conditioning vents blowing smoke out in some parts of the trailer, suggesting warmer weather; there are segments which the peds all wear warmer, larger clothing, suggesting colder weather; and there are also segments where the leaves are brown, suggesting autumn. They've had seasons in previous Rockstar games, like Bully, so why not GTA IV?

By the way, anyone suggesting it still might not be Liberty City should get their eyes checked. There's Liberty pasted on the ship, Liberty Ferry Terminal, and Liberteen on one of the buildings. It's definitely Liberty City, but maybe not as we know it, or at least enlarged quite a lot.

Either way, the May edition of Game Informer will have more screenshots and a lot of insight into all we want to know, and it's only a few weeks away.

Man it's been a long time! Glad to see Kieran and Bill are still around, among others. 👍

Yeah, many of them want all sorts of sick things in GTA.

They talk of Rape, killing children, even more gruesome decapitation etc

I am also very happy about the [supposed] main character, but many arn't. Am I the only one that is not interested in having CJ, Tommy and other older characters return?

You going to become active/semi-active in the GTA forums again Matt?

I would've hated to have CJ back. San Andreas was a big mark in the GTA series that won't scrub off. I barely consider it a part of the series, to be honest. I also would've been disappointed to have Tommy Vercetti back.. he'd be quite old, too. Claude would've been okay, but very boring. He was great in the GTA III series, simply because he was simple. But in a game as large and in-depth as GTA IV, I personally don't think Claude would've cut it. Though I hope the new guy doesn't get too repetitive and irritating, as Tommy and CJ did after a while.

Yeah, probably. I can't wait for GTA IV and any news/screenshots for it, and I kinda miss the days of the previous [notable] GTA releases, and posting as much information as possible as it's released. So I'm hoping those days will come back.

Plus.. I kinda miss all you guys. :p

I completely agree

and welcome back. 👍 👍

Rape would be over the line. Active Pimping, however: Pwnage.

Not to argue, but I never really understood why some people hated SA so much, it has its faults like other GTAs and some of them are annoying but I think its got a damn good story and is a nice step from VC. Just wondering if there was any one thing that some people tend to hate about the game

The main thing i hated about gta sa, was the city was too huge, I like to get to know the city like the back of my hand. I just didn't see me learning everything, and every nook and cranny for this game. I could prolly drive through liberty city with my eyes closed.

It never fails to amaze me in forums when discussing the next GTA game, amongst the usual requests for stuff people want in the next game, there's usually some sicko says he wants children to be in the game. WTF?

Gameplay wise the game was the best so far. Decent car and bike physics, new abilities such as swimming and death from large falls, parachuting, flying planes etc. The way you could move the camera around using the right analogue stick was also really good for gameplay, as well as the new aiming system.

But the storyline didn’t sit well with me. The radio stations were passable at best. The humour was not as good as it usually is. The map wasn’t very good. The game seemed to jump all over the place, and they didn’t seem to nail any particular stereotype because the game was always jumping around. There seemed to be little progression in terms of power over the city, or a big climax.

It all just happened, and that was it. It didn’t feel like GTA.

I think that was a great idea, but on the other hand, it really screwed me up alot, i like driveing a car with a camera at a certain height, i would get it perfect, then the damn camera would auto reset, very annoying. I wanted to pull my hair out every time it did that. If that had a feature to keep that camera at a fixed angle that you choose and set, gta sa would be my favorite. :grumpy:

This is all what I said about GTASA from day 1. Back then, nobody agreed with me...

I'm a bit surprised someone like Famine actually plays GTA.

No offense or anything, but you just don't strike me as someone who would play such a game.

Really? I would have thought I would have agreed. At least once I got past the new features and looked into the game itself…

Aww man, Famine was a big player in the Vice City days.

I enjoy shooting prostitutes inna fork as much as the next person.

Still GTAVC for me, but then again Scarface FTW.

Have you seen his web-site in which he has a guide for all the hidden packages on Vice City? with screen shots and all 👍

Anyway, this time, I wish GTA: IV will make you able to get on top of all of the skyscrapers that are there.
And now that we are in New York state, why should we get off the city for a while to have some Niagara Falls action heh? ;) that'd be pretty awesome imo.

The thing I like about SA so much in comparison to the older games was the story, when CJ was doing a main story mission it was seldom just to make money, and unless you either had no choice (tenpenny and toreno) or you were planning to deceive them later (Leone and Loco syndicate), you were working for your friends or your family or often for yourself, and when you were working for family/friends it felt more like you were working with them to help them out. In past games (especially in 3, not so much VC) it felt like you were the bitch working for everyone towards your goal. Certainly this is not an SA thread so sorry for the OT post just my 2cents.

Blake has it pretty much nailed down. It didn't feel like a GTA game. It was plain, all over the place, and repetitive. They had a lot of good ideas, but they just sort of crammed all of the ideas into the game without really developing them.

And god did that traffic on the freeway annoy the 🤬 out of me..

I think I just tried to give it a chance when it first come out, seeing as we had to live with that GTA for quite some time, but after a while it just frustrated me to the point that I couldn't play it anymore.

I guess that's where FIFA came in..

I like GTA SA, mainly for the replay value of just having fun fooling around with planes and many other new toys it featured. I do agree that the missions where not the best as they jumped all over the place and I actually stopped playing GTA SA for awhile because it kept doing that.

Nice to see GTA forum has been moved to somewhere more appropriate.
