GTA 6 Delayed to May 2026 - IGN
Rockstar has delayed Grand Theft Auto 6 to May 26, 2026. It was due out fall 2025.

How a 13 year old game is still in the top 10 after all this time still surprises me.13 is also about the average age (physically and mentally) of GTA Online players. I shudder to think of the hellscape that the new online mode will be.
A cynical person might think part of the reason for the delay is to let gamers get used to the new $80 RRP for AAA games, so when Rockstar charge $100 for GTA 6 it won't seem quite so outrageous. They can afford to push back the release, 5 is still amongst the top 10 sellers every month.
It's constantly heavily discounted on the PS Store (i can't remember ever not seeing it for sale through the PS5 portal) and pushed to the top of the page, so i'm not really surprised at its ranking. They can afford to push back the release, 5 is still amongst the top 10 sellers every month.
Made me laugh when I noticed GTA was the first non-GT series-specific sub-forum we ever had... and that was 17 years ago today. It's not just 13 years between GTAV & GTAVI been released, it's 9 years between been announced as been in development.
I keep remembering games i bought on PS4 that i could try out on the PS5 now i have a bit more storage space, as most of the stuff i buy is digital and you can just re-download it.As that also post-dates GTA4 by three days, only ONE GAME has been released in that time: GTAV.
This may be shocking news - not everyone likes the things you do, and vice versa. No idea why people are excited for this. I tried GTA V for 1 hour and dropped it. Game was trash.
Gta 5 was awesome I only played through it once but thought it was highly entertainingThis may be shocking news - not everyone likes the things you do, and vice versa.
Looking at my trophy data it’s been 8 years since my last playthrough of 5. I do own the PS5 version so maybe I should actually try it at some point.
I would be. One of the surrounding stories regarding its development over the last year has been shareholders getting antsy right before they were initially told a holiday release. Rockstar's CEO Strauss Zelnick also went & did some media appearances in the past few months. Not surprised at all and I wouldnt be surprised if they delayed it again further down the line.
Zelnick himself commented, saying Take-Two backs Rockstar in its decision to delay GTA 6, and told shareholders the company expects to deliver a “multi-year” period of growth.
“We support fully Rockstar Games taking additional time to realize their creative vision for Grand Theft Auto VI, which promises to be a groundbreaking, blockbuster entertainment experience that exceeds audience expectations,” Zelnick said.
“While we take the movement of our titles seriously and appreciate the vast and deep global anticipation for Grand Theft Auto VI, we remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence. As we continue to release our phenomenal pipeline, we expect to deliver a multi-year period of growth in our business and enhanced value for our shareholders.”
Damn, if only Rockstar had decided to heed your opinion first. You could've saved them from making millions of dollars each year for a decade old game that other studios would kill for.No idea why people are excited for this. I tried GTA V for 1 hour and dropped it. Game was trash.
Between 4 and 5 Rockstar at least released a bunch of other titles as well. Since 5, they've only released RDR2. (Ignoring all the remasters and rereleases)Made me laugh when I noticed GTA was the first non-GT series-specific sub-forum we ever had... and that was 17 years ago today.

So we can expect Red Dead 3 in 2031 then? Excellent 😬Between 4 and 5 Rockstar at least released a bunch of other titles as well. Since 5, they've only released RDR2. (Ignoring all the remasters and rereleases)
Because Rockstar can sell a big steaming pile of **** On A Shingle for dinner and people will gladly open their mouths and eat it, praise Rockstar that their pile tastes amazing, and then fork over 80 US dollars for the meal not once, not twice, but three times in a row.No idea why people are excited for this. I tried GTA V for 1 hour and dropped it. Game was trash.
I think I might be among the most patient of Gamers, because I don't mind a developer taking the time necessary to get a game to a high standard. This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:
Grand Theft Auto VI Delayed, But May 26 2026 Launch Now Confirmed
In a bit of a good news/bad news situation, Rockstar Games has confirmed that its original release plan for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI, stated as some time in 2025, won’t happen — but has confirmed a release date of May 26, 2026...
Yeah GTA 5 online is where it's at. While the map is the same ol same ol for the last decade there's still so much stuff to do. And even better if you're with friendsI’m patient because what’s another year? Life goes on. I’m still jumping in GTA V once in a while.
