Just a tiny bit for the AA for the jaggies, but i hear slowdown has been fixed

Well the JPN version did have some screen tearing, however after playing the London track on the PAL version at HMV and Play.com LIVE, i can safely say that problem has been fixed

If they use Anti Aliasing there might be a problem with game's speed as AA eats firstly a lot of video memory(much more than Anisotropic Filtering) and secondly GPU power and bandwidth.
There also might be a problem if they use Anti Aliasing because the viodecard in PS3 is a powerful "GeForce 7" videochip which provides astonishing eye candy 3D image quality by default, but when you use HDR technology the realism becomes a lot more present because of the lighting, a lighting close to what real life is.

Actually even Gran Turismo 4 has some HDR in it that's why it looks much better lightingwise(The Nurb, Laguna Seca and so on) than rFactor and such on PC and you really! need to use component/RGB cables there to see the big difference in contrast. Truth is consoles used HDR based on software matters, PC had it only starting with GeForce 6 serries and it is hardware supported I think so it's easier to provide and today HDR is more powerful also.
Anyway the point is the GeForce 7 GPU doesn't allow AA+HDR at the same, but maybe the GPU inside the PS3 is a lot different, although I doubt it. I think it is a card just like GeForce 7950GT which has 550Mhz core and 1400Mhz memory and yes it is very powerfull.

There are other ways also. If the Cell CPU is very powerfull it can take on itself graphics processing, so basically what I mean is: you can use a CPU as a GPU, infact a GPU is just a simple processor unit programmed for graphics.

In the future the videocards we see today might disappear because Central Processors we see today can be programmed to behave like videocards and processing for everything else too. A videocard we see today can also behave like an universal processing unit, it is said soon there will be a fight between GPU and CPU which one will win(Nvidia&ATi Vs Intel) and Intel is much, much! more powerful and heavy than both. The further we go the more potential there is to nanotechnology that means the processors can be very very powerfull yet run very cool and save power also. We'll see.

But for now just look at GT5 it is Revolutionary! and I mean it.

HDR is pretty heavy, so we have super eyecandy beautiful graphics with car models so photorealistic that it makes you melt away and all this is at 1080p + HDR + 60fps. That is just.. Amazing!!

All you said sounds cool, but GT5P already has AA. 2x for 1080p mode. 4x for 720p mode. But still, the jaggies are uggly LOL

do you guys who see the jaggies on HDTV have the sharpness settings on high, I turn it off as you get a better picture qualify, remember sharpness doesn't mean better qualify.

There are very very few jaggies on the cars and in the tracks. That's what reallly impresses me about GT5P.

I have a high end PC and I know how much power you really need to apply AA to highly detailed images. I play GTR2 with 16xAA and it's still not as clean as GT5P.

GT5P cleverly uses both AA and blur.

If the jaggies really look ugly then there is probably something wrong with your tv.

GT5 has other technology and other game concept...

I think, you cant compare it to Race07, GTR2, etc...

The reason, becouse GT5 graphics engine is the last advantage in technology and Simbin and ISI depolovers havent got the technology and the money of course, PD has :)

You can try buying the best graphic card in the WORLD and the best PC, but you never go to have the GT5 graphics in PC simulators (for the moment)
Becouse their Graphic engine isnt soo much improved :)

Thanks and regards

Awaits PC fanboy lashback...........LOL

Not a PC fanboy, but I think logically.

You have to remember that GT5 is built on the technologies in one system, 1 set of hardware it can make full use of, use every single ounce of power it produces.

When building PC games there are so many more variances, it's impossible for developers to make use of a 8800 Ultra 100%, there is way to many things to factor in, like does the user have enough ram to do this? Or fast enough CPU, whats speed ram, speed CPU, brand etc..

Not sure if anyone gets my point.

Are these problems experienced at 1080p on a Sony Bravia X because for the life of me I haven't experienced any graphical problems with the GT5P demo that came out in November on the Japanese store...

Jaggies, where?

looks perfect :D

PC gamers pride themselves on there latest graphics cards, saying the PC can't cope with GT5's graphics (yet) is like a red rag to them. Personaly I couldn't comment on it but some of these PC graphics cards are pretty hot especialy with todays craze of running 2 in sync, what gets me though is it's cheaper to buy a PS3 than do this LOL

That is good to hear, I bet in FULL GT5 game everything will be fixed :)

Jaggies, where?

looks perfect :D

You know, when a 1920x1080 image gets downsized to 800x450, it occurs an effect called oversampling, and it acts like extra antialiasing:

Looks slick. Jaggies free.

Look at the HUD, is slick, pixel per pixel perfect meaning that is the original resolution. But the rest is messy, the textures are washed out.

And this image is taken directly from the game, no sharpness settings could produce more jaggies.

With this I'm not saying GT5P graphics suck, when you are racing you don't care about your whipers being blocky, but it is far, far, far away from all those press images.

The jaggies on the cars in the Japanese version of GT5:P are highly visible on the My Page menu.

Yep mine too, lots of shimmering more noticeable on darker colour cars even with the sharpness set to 0, be interesting to see if the PAL version is any different.
Also suffer with some screen tear round London especially when using cockpit view.

I have terrible jaggies in GT5:P Japanese version. Maybe if sony put in 2 GPU's to handle graphics then Prologue could use more AA. Also my GT5:P doesnt look any way near as clean as that in Fruitcakes pics.

In the other thread I posted a video (not my video) it show off Forza and GT4 models of cars, and in most cars Forza made many mistakes with modeling. They also made the NSX cars look like rally cars not sports cars ;) hah. Thats what happens Mircrosoft when you try to rush a game.

IMO, PS3 and Personal Computers cannot be compared to each other. I own a E6550+2GB DDR800 Corsair Ram+ATi X1950 Pro GC, which is a mild set up for nowadays. I can run GTR 2, Race 07, rFactor maxxed out, on 1680x1050 @ 22'' screen, and I like what I see.

There is no GranTurismo on PC, so as I bought a PS2 (my first videogame platform ever) when GT3 arrived, and continued to GT4, I will buy a PS3+GT5:P and GT5 when it debuts.

I trully think a top notch system can takeover a PS3, but thats for 2000USD here in Portugal, and a PS3 is more like 620USD. We have to compare, not the images that GT5:P can produce, but for instance GTA: IV on both platforms. Even that might be an uneven comparison, because if the source code is written and coverted from on to another, it may fail to use all platform capabilities.

GT5:tup:

Menu: 1920 x 1080, no AA
720p: 1280 x 720, 4x MSAA
1080p: 1280 x 1080, 2x MSAA (interpoled to 1920 x 1080, 4x MSAA)

JPN version has A LOT of jaggies in 720p, but when I play it in 1080p, I can hardly see any jaggies, especially on the GT-R, not a single one.

If you want jaggies removed, get a 1080p TV ;) I play it in that resolution myself and I have never seen a better looking game.

I have a 1080P Game still has some jaggies..

By the way Sure PS3 can not be as Powerful as PC, but it all depends who makes a game and how long and how much work they put in the game, then sure maybe GTR3 will have as good as graphics as GT5.

PC's are by there nature upgradeable to the nith degree, A true comparison would be between a PC that cost say the same as a PS3.........Ok twice as much as a PS3.......is there a comparison at this price range? and is it twice as good as the PS3? The line between PC and console gaming is becoming blurry at best, especialy with the PS3's ability to browse the net, interact and stream many forms of media with Macs and PC's over local networks, it's alternate OS system alowing you to run Linux ect ect and the way you can bolt on most standard USB devices such as cameras, MP3 players, external hard drives, mice, keyboards....the list goes on LOL Then theres the Blue ray 2.0 profile player built in and standard HDMI conections. But most importantly is the Sony brand reliability and games catalouge........I'm stopping now as Sony don't pay me to promote there products LOL
GT5 is I would say the second wave of games from Sonys development systems and it's certainly no slouch when it comes to graphics and number crunching (read speed for that) We should start to see some really amazeing products this year as people start to get to grips with the hardware, MGS is a point in case as is GT5 LBP and with the whole PSN about to get a much needed shot in the arm from Home I think Sony will be quietly smilling to themselves yet again LOL

I agree, Lets say if you do build a PC with every spec as the PS3, it will cost you at least 1000 dollars, PS3 is only 400 dollars. And everything ready to go.

But I still play my 2,4000 dollar custom build PC more then my PS3 ;) since there are more SIM games, War, Flight, Strategy, FPS, and Driving :)

It's funny how most of us forget that we need to buy an HDMI cable after buying a "400 dollar" PS3 .. oh and... one more thing right??... ummm, what is it... Oh yeah.. A BIG A$$ED 1080p TV, to play it right.. lol entertainment doesnt come cheap, does it? :p
