what time do you guys normally start playing? 8pm for you guys is like 2am for me.... :( Would like to join you guys for a race sometime.

I can get on whenever. I'm actually more active around UK time coincidentally.

Except the next few days I won't be in town so...

I'm game right now if you are...?

Working just now.... on something :p

I'll most likely be online tonight, but it won't be late... probably between 9pm and midnight.... so that'll be about 3pm to 6pm for you guys, roughly.

See you there if you're on :D

Even though I've been playing racing games for about 20 years now and I think I'm pretty good at them, something I've always struggled to understand and get right is car setups and what the setting s actually do. Over the years, I've got to grips with suspension and brake bias etc, but Diff settings have always baffled me. So... one of our Vehicle handlers just sent me this..... might help others out there like me.....

I was lucky enough to end up in a clean room last night and moved up from yellow to white and put in several perfectly clean races to solidify the white rating for a while. It really does make a difference when you're in a room with many white rated drivers, they really try and stay clean.

Last night when the lobby went to the track a message popped up. "Are you ready?". And then I was driving solo on the track. I thought it was a glitch at first, but then realized it was a 3 lap Time Attack!!! I think that's a great idea, gives you a little break from the constant races and allows you to relax a bit and just attack the course without having to watch for others, but still racing against the clock. Well done CM:tup:

I was in the room with you last night. Didn't fare too well being my first time online too but it wasn't as clean in the back of the pack as it was up front. Lol.

That differential gear video is good, but not perfect. The information is correct, but I don't think it contains information on setting it up.

My playtime varies. Mostly a bit in the evening and during the weekend. Share the TV with the rest of the family in the house ;)

I just finished 2 SP Touring car races at Brands Hatch GP on Very Hard in the Oakley Motorsport Chevrolet Cruze. Finished 2nd in race one in between the two Ravenwest cars which meant starting 15th in race 2.

x3 race length so 9 laps fighting through the field to finish 4th. So intense from the first to last lap.
That was probably my best ever racing experience ever in the virtual world.

I have been doing this for a long time, online and offline.. across many many different titles. In both sims, games and all those in between. That 4th place felt like my first ever win in iRacing.

Amazing.

So, I've never seen the spins because of discipline and difficulty level and qualifying positions.... (Fun fact: never qualified lower than 3rd)

...reverse grids have caused contact (=dodging bumpers) and spins from contact, but I've never seen the AI just go too deep in a corner.

The AI crashes in this game? :odd: I've only seen one, where a failed divebomb took a few AI out. Never seen the AI make a mistake bigger than a small slide.
I've seen them do all sorts of stuff. Just last night I had the two Ravenwest drivers collide with one another in one race, and then in the next there was a first-lap melee that saw one car roll over the top of me.

Which difficulty level? :)

I've seen big pileups on very hard where one car will get a bit sideways on the first lap and the ones behind will get caught up.

Occasionally a car will spin out, but it's rare for the front running guys. Once every few races at most. I think I've had one instance where the guy in front of me spun out as I was chasing him, the rest I only see because of position/delta changes.

It's quite good, the frequency seems relatively realistic. They can make mistakes, they just mostly don't unless they're forced into it. Not big mistakes anyway, it's easy enough to wait for them to miss an apex or two.

Has anybody got a good set-up for the Subaru BRZ? I have to do six races with it, and after twelve laps of Washington Sprint, the only thing I have learned is that Intel Motorsports won't even try to pass me - they'll just turn me around.

I soften the rear suspension and lock the diff on all rear-wheel cars. I mean, it's worth a try and it might make your AI issues easier.

Thanks for that. It's given me a lot more confidence in the car.

Doesn't fix the AI issue, but those two have always been the dirtiest drivers in the game.

I noticed that in my garage there's a VW Golf. Is that the first car you have or when you finish 1st in the drivers and teams championship you win the car you raced with?

I would have like 20 cars by now if that were the case. Everyone gets the Golf.

I said that expecting to not even get a reply (because you wouldn't like it...) So this is wonderful.

I'd just pick a team with another coupe.

I didn't have a whole lot of choice. It was either Kicker or Monster, and I'm not a fan of the Integra. It feels down on power. Besides, do what Andrew suggested above and open the diff whilst softening the rear suspension, and the BRZ goes from being manageable to being a car that you can race Ravenwest with.
