About those diff settings, i checked it again and i was mistaken at first as i actually have it opened. The game states this will aid in corners (locked aids on straights it says).

Not the biggest expert here, but someone must be mistaken either on GTP or a @ Codies seeing everyone seems to agree locking helps with corner exit oversteer (which was the issue), but the game states it's the other way around, and that's the way i managed it also.

Keeping anim8r's diff instruction video in mind, opening the diff would help the wheels spin separately no? Thus giving more traction in corners?

All I know is that with the diff open, rear-wheel drive cars do what I want them to do, which is go in the direction I want them to. If I put in too much throttle too quickly, I still have a chance to correct the mistake before I start spinning like a top.

The AI crashes in this game? :odd: I've only seen one, where a failed divebomb took a few AI out. Never seen the AI make a mistake bigger than a small slide.

Andrew.... because you're so much faster and better than everyone else, you'll never see AI crash because they'll all be behind you...lol - Just kidding.

Seriously though, the AI do crash.... a lot. It's something I worked on when setting up all the collision FX.

If you want to see them, try racing at the back of the pack and you should see more mistakes. Also, slow speed/high grip cars are less likely to crash out. As said above, try Open Wheel events or higher tier Touring cars :D

I saw a spectacular one in the first Formula B series, Autosport GP, I think it was Luka Shmid in one of the K&N cars in 4th went through the fast left hander (turn 3 maybe?) And slammed into the outside wall spinning him back across the road, impressive. Also seen a touring car roll at Brands Hatch.

I asked our Principle Vehicle Handling designer to clarify about the Diff settings. Here's what he said... (still means nothing to me...LOL :) )

With our differential slider you cannot fully lock the differential (like a drifter would). Therefore moving the slider to increase the locking effect can reduce the over steer up to a point. Beyond this the car breaks traction and limiting the speed difference over the rear axle makes it easier to control/maintain the slide.

Thanks man! Seeing drifters use locked diffs i'm supposing codies got it right and oversteer in corners is countered with opening the diff as the game states.

Just won the Studio 'Fastest Lap' challenge with a rather 'shockingly' slow time.

Rules were:

Ford Focus Touring car (Liqui Moly)
Brands Hatch GP
3 lap race (AI hard)
Starting position 16th
ABS ON
TCS ON
Manual Gears

TCS and ABS was on to keep it 'fair'. Without it, I did an unofficial lap of 1:24.133

So, I've never seen the spins because of discipline and difficulty level and qualifying positions.... (Fun fact: never qualified lower than 3rd)

...reverse grids have caused contact (=dodging bumpers) and spins from contact, but I've never seen the AI just go too deep in a corner.
I don't know what game you're playing - I just had three roll-overs and two spin-outs in a fifteen-lap race at Brands Hatch.

The first roll-over came at Pilgrim's Drop; there was a car on its roof as I flew by. The second one happened just a lap later on the entry to Paddock Hill Bend, and showered me with doors and bumpers. And the third started as a spin at Sheene Corner, which turned into a pirouette as soon as the car hit the gravel trap.

As for the spin-outs, one came at Graham Hill Bend on the opening lap, which pushed two other cars off and resulted in a collision when one driver had a messy re-join. The other was Arron Westley tagging me into a spin through Dingle Dell.

I think in the game open just gives you more inside wheelspin which reduces acceleration and introduces some instability but slightly better cornering speed. Move it towards look and you get more stability, moving towards understeer and better exit speed with less inside wheelspin.

Actually I'm not sure anyone knows what game Andrew is playing:lol:

Wow this game is going to be a grind for platinum. Ive levelled up a car to 72 and on level 20 in the open wheel. Trying for level 50 in each category going to be fun times. Will probably take over 200 hours. Who even puts these trophies in a game makes me do hard work :(.

I was working through one of the Cat. A Touring Car/Super Tourer championships last night (went to Mont Tremblant GP, Autosport GP and Bathurst). On each race the majority of the grid went wide off course - so that's into a gravel trap on Tremblant (had a car roll over, ensuing pileup), the wall on Autosport (:scared:) and the fairly low-speed runoff at Mount Panorama. This was on medium difficulty.

They will make mistakes.

Heeeey, congratz @anim8r_uk.
It sounds like this really is better than grid 2....
Everything about GRID: Autosport is better and improved! :D:tup:

Initially, I thought the happiest day of my life was when I married. Then the day came when I became a father and I thought that was the best day. It may be a rude thing to say, but the day when my mother in law passed I thought that to be approaching the best day, but it proved to be just a relatively good day. Years later, the day came of my divorce and I thought that to be the best day of my life, but alas it was not. Today, the day in which I bought and played Grid Autosport is the happiest day of my life. Great game.

Bought this on Friday.

This is the first game I bought in 2014 and I think it's going to be in my most-played list for ages. There's a LOT to do under here, and I'm quite taken back by how it's unlike the GRiD 2.5 I thought it was going to be. There's a fair bit of a Race Driver 3 feel, which is never going to be a bad thing.
