Am I the only one who thinks the two commentators who introduce the races - Peter and Orson (as far as I know, he doesn't have a name, so I'm naming him after Orson Welles) - say some bloody stupid things? My favourite came when Orson signed off by saying "I need to go and focus myself for the race today", as if calling a twenty-lap touring car race is as tiring as driving in one.

@anim8r_uk I'm guessing it was you that came up with the AI driver named Wang Long?

There's a what in the who now?!?

Cue the "rammed from behind" jokes. :D

Could be if he has the physique of Orson Welles.

They seem to be able to see everything all at once - you can hear them over the PA during the race - so I very much imagine that the commentary booth is at the top of a ferris wheel somewhere.

Bonus points if you understand the reference.

I like the description of Manuel Dominguez myself. I won't spoil it - you'll know it when you see it.

But some of the descriptions are a missed opportunity, and are quite frankly far too generous. For example, Razer's Tommy King is described as a promising rookie who lacks confidence. Having very nearly been taken out by him while lapping him on more than one occasion, I'd have this to say:

"What he lacks in raw speed, he makes up for with refined aggression, which is a polite way of saying money won out over talent. He holds the record for the most expensive pile-up in the sport, which is ironic considering that his family made their fortune in car insurance."

Hahahaha... I wish. In Race Driver Grid, most of the drivers were actually Devs.

We wanted to do that for Autosport too.... but sadly didn't happen

Graham Bromley, Nic Melder, Jorge Hernandez-Soria..... they're all still here. In fact, all 3 of those worked on Autosport too :)

Can't remember any other names.

Also, has anyone else picked up on the fact that Nathan McKane is related to Ryan McKane from the Race Driver series? :D

I did notice that Ravenwest are the whitest team ever. Aside from Faisal Mahmoud, they're all British, or in the case of McKane, American.

There are 8 drivers for Ravenwest.... only 2 are British. Arron Westley (English - Touring) and Rick Scott (Scottish - Touring)

Others are:

Nathan McKane (USA) - Touring
Faisal Mahmoud (Saudi Arabi) - Street
Hector Gonzalez (Spain) - Open Wheel
Leo Garnier (France) - Tuner
Yuki Nakamura (Japan) - Tuner
Tang Qiang (China) - Street

Not sure where you got 'whitest team' from. Ravenwest is Multi-national

Well, after fifteen season, thus far I have only encountered McKane, Scott, Westley and Mahmoud. I had no idea there were other drivers in the team.

Are you only playing Touring and Street though?
I'm playing all of them. Admittedly, I'm not paying too much attention to Tuner events, and I've only done a little bit of the Endurance career. I'm assuming that some of these drivers only come out to play at the higher levels of competition.

Not sure if they're linked to higher levels. I thought they were just linked to discipline. Either way, Ravenwest is Multi-national :D

They're definitely linked to the discipline - for instance, I haven't seen Faisal Mahmoud outside Street. I've only done a bit of Touring in Tier 2, so maybe I just haven't gotten far enough into the game to meet the drivers who specialise in single disciplines.

Yeah... so that's why you're only seeing the 2 brits and McKane. The others are in Openwheel etc. Once you start doing those disciplines, you'll see the other drivers. No idea if they're as dirty as the McKane, Scott, Westley trio though... :P

I noticed that there's a driver named "Aiden", which is also an audio name. My name is "Aidan" so I used that audio name since it's pronounced the same. I love it when I resume my career and the lady says, "welcome back Aidan".

I like that too.... I remember when I first played Race Driver Grid though (pre-Codies employment)... I thought it was freaky. I was like... "how did she know my name???? Whaaaaa!!!!".... lol

I never platinum racing games because I loathe online racing, only had two races online on GAS so far had to retire both times because my car was too badly damaged from rammed left right and centre (that's not an innuendo!)...so frustrating!

This is the first game where my name is available as an audio name, so I was pretty stoked.

Platinum in GT6 is incredibly easy to get. No online required. It's my first and only platinum trophy.

Your bragging is getting boring. Congrats you found a game where you are a tiny bit fast. Now play it and stop hyping yourself up.
I said "even by my standards," meaning that I have a boring life, and you call that bragging?

Read my posts before calling me something I'm not... Ignorance is not reading people's posts.

I get nervous when she saids my real name. :nervous: So instead I use the name "Turbo", since my gamer tag is the same as my PSN's name. :p

I still look for the name "Perry" to be there, never surprised but always disapointed! I go for "Mate" instead, makes my team just seem friendly. Occasional lol when I ask for updates and get "Mate, you have a 2 second lead" as I expect the next line to be "just look in your damn mirrors!"

My dad's name is Perry.

Fun fact: The nickname Spanky comes from the chief games designer on Race Driver Grid, who I worked with on State of Emergency way back in 2001..... one of the main characters in that game is called Spanky :)

I don't find them to be dirty. They'll force their way through, but contact usually only happens in there is a massive speed differential.

Logan Parker and Owen Cook, on the other hand, are extremely dirty.

Ok, I'm currently saving for a g27, but is this good enough to cut myself down to 90 dollars, and resave for a g27?

OK, straight answer time.

As I cannot seem to download anything sizable without servers timing out, if I bought this and don't get the inevitable patches, will it still work or would I have an expensive coaster?

It might depend what platform you're on, but on PC I don't think I've had a patch yet and it works just fine. 25 hours played so far.

Other platforms may be different, but I haven't encountered any showstoppers yet, just a few "oh, that's not quite right" bugs. It's not like say, early releases of F1 2010 or GT5, which you could play but might suddenly decide to corrupt your save and leave you to start all over again.

It's normal levels of first release bugs, just little things here and there. See all the people who are playing just fine without any serious problems. If it never got patched, I'd still be happy enough to play it as it is now, it's a good game.
