It's not even 5% friendly. Reports are that the cockpit view has the dash blurred completely out so you "focus on the road". Codemasters are a joke. Why are they even bothering? I could see if they were releasing this on PS4 because there's no racing games on PS4 right now, but this game is the most utterly pointless piece of trash they've made so far, and that includes Dirt Showdown.

If you looked into it in more detail you'd realise there are two cockpit cameras, one blurred as you describe and one not.

I don't see how you can call this game "the most utterly pointless piece of trash they've made so far" without playing it, to be honest.

The cars may not be the most detailed but the whole world outside the track will be, and that's what sets Codemasters' games apart; they actually feel alive.

Case in point: Grid 2 - drifting around Druids at Brands Hatch - over the engines I hear a distinct female voice shout "Wow! Look at that drift, that's awesome!". Can't have been the announcer, since the announcer for that track (in the game) is male.

And then you have the workers in Abu Dhabi welding together the metal frames of buildings under construction. The squirrel that dives across the road in California. The braying crowds which jump back when you get too close.

The little things.

I enjoyed GRID2 and will give autosport a bash too, GT6 is getting boring now, GT is still to flat. I want the feeling of RAW Motorsport as Motorsport is, roll on pcars.

lol... well, I think he'll be pleasantly suprised when he finally gets to play it and see what it's all about..... as will a lot of people I think :D
 
I hope Codies balances the wear and tear out right, because it would be quite the change of strategy instead of just managing the tyres, which will be a great gameplay element especially during endurance races, but it could be problematic to say the least if not balanced right.

I'm also getting a bit hyped for the game now.

Yeah, even though EA and Ubisoft haven't exactly been churning out killer products, to say the least.

Just read the two articles posted. Good read. Very cleverly written. Sets clear expectations.

I think it's quite clear not to expect any sims from Codemasters in future, as they've clearly decided to go down the "accessible" route, rather than having arcade or simcade-focused experiences for the casual racers and a unique franchise for the hardcore gearheads.

All in all, it seems like an exciting title to add to your collection, even if you're a pure sim nut.

I am excited for this but at the same time slightly apprehensive. Combined with the announced driver rating system and increased penalty's to drivers with bad ratings, it could be a real boon to clean online racing. But it has to be balanced. You can't be taking damage with every little rub or scrape or it'll discourage hard but fair racing. It's also something that you should be able to toggle on and off when setting up a room so if you just want hoon around and have a laugh, it's not going to hurt your driver rating or cost you money.

If they get it right, wow, this could be amazing!!:bowdown:

You can set up a race with Full Damage, Visual Damage or No Damage if you want. It's up to you. You can also turn off impact rating if you want.

Little rubs and 'love taps' won't cause excessive damage.... big shunts will. Of course.... if you're constantly banging and rubbing against other cars while racing then you may start to experience suspension/steering issues etc (as in real life). :D

I really like the fact that Codemasters are being different, and having there own unique style. It's those things I like the most and what inspires me to do the same as well. d(^v^)b
 
Adding full damage to online wouldn't change anything. If Grid 2's Hardcore playlist is anything to go by, bashers will still be bashers. You'd just be pissed off even more because one shunt will DNF your race instead of resetting. The more stable physics should help alleviate accidental taps somewhat, but I still expect a massive cluster:censored: at Turn 1. I will be really unhappy if there is no online playlist with damage off. The only time damage works is when you're in a private room with racers you trust IMO.

Yes it will change things because you have a drivers rating system. Hopefully you can see this rating and filter it in online lobbies so the bashers never get in. Having these options creates a certain dynamic online. If a lobby is set up with damage and driver rating on, it will tend to attract cleaner drivers in the long run, because the bashers won't get in to begin with, and if they do, it will only be for a short time until their driver rating is nerfed. Whether damage is fun to run with in a sprint lobby, how easily you get damaged, who gets damaged with contact is a different story altogether.
