SECTOR 1 STORY

The opening race of Grand Sport Touring's second season had a good turnout in terms of signed up racers. Along with two returning veterans of GST, we have a new driver in his Mitsubishi 3000GT. hirace45 is returning in his admiral blue Corvette Grand Sport along with FuJi K of FRI Race Team with his Subi. So, without further adu, I give you the sector 1 story of the opening race at Grand Valley.

Sector 1
Coming down the opening straight of Sector 1, the cars are really ripping up the asphault with hirace45's Corvette GS accelerating in front.

At the first hairpin turn, the well handling AWD 3000GT and WRX's of psonefreak and FuJi K, respectively, glide through the corner leaving the slightly unstable Vette behind. The cars are all bunched up now, as the GSTM Vette begins to really pump its torque to the rear tires.

Coming up on the gliding esses before the end of Sector 1, psonefreak's '99 Mitsubishi falls behind and loses a little traction while hirace45 pulls ahead of the FRI Subaru to lead the rest by just 4/100 of a second going into Sector 2. FuJi leads psonefreak by just 1.430 seconds.

Going into the second and tightest hairpin, hirace45 leads with his '96 Corvette GS with FuJi K following closely and psonefreak right behind them.

The heavy muscle Vette is forced to brake early allowing FuJi's Subi to pass him up and start on the next short straightaway. The FMW Mitsubishi 3000GT closes the gap on the Vette and Subaru as the last two cars complete the hairpin.

Some tight "M" curves follow slowing the cars just before the final straight before Sector 3. FuJi K leads hirace45 by half a second. hirace is ahead of psonefreak by nearly 3 seconds.

The positions stayed the same throughout the race as FuJi K takes the checkered flag with hirace in second and psonefreak in third.
