how's the competition in russian GT5? To my surprise i haven't really seen any russian flags on the leaderboards - which is shocking since Russia had such a strong NFS talent pool.

I am currently downloading 3Gb Demo and since I am on ship with my sattelite speed 512kb/s I would be able to start Academy tomorrow or day after.
Those who installed already, please answer a few questions:
1.What tires on Nissan Leaf
2.What tracks round 1 is being held on
3.Is there leaderboards
4.How many people from Russia ( if you can see it ) took part in GTAcademy yet?

Tonypanda, if you have created this thread I thought you could have checked it and reply sometimes or sort of
first impressions of it - frustrating piece of crap with so huge size. in old time , like gran-turismo 2 and 4 license tests was moar challenging and interesting. not like these days. why not create a simple time trials leaderbords on a several circuits
so, ive downloaded.
There are 8 rouds, each round has 5 small events (4 example to go through the corners like in Driving License, and battle with opponents).
You cannot enter round #2 until havent finished round #1.
First round is on Nissan Leaf. Nissan version of Prius, lol ANd the main thing is: only by results of the round 8 event#5 top players will go to the final. Of course to pass to the round #8 u must archive only Gold medals in each event/each round.

I've just earned all 10 golds with gamepad. Pretty easy right now for gold. Yeah, in global leaderboard i'm just number 3500-8500 for all challenges but it doesn't matters right now.
My G25 is waiting for real challenges...like X2010 on Suzuka in GT5's special event
Look what I found on official site: Receive Great Prizes by Clearing Events!
If you clear all 5 events within a round in Gold, you will receive a car that you can use within the ‘Gran Turismo 5’ game. If you clear all rounds in Bronze or better, you’ll also receive a special racing wear set that can be worn by your avatar in “Gran Turismo 5”. The timing for the distribution and how to receive these prizes will be notified at a later date on this page.

seems like Kaz & co give us these four cars, which are demonstrated in menu - gtr, leaf, 370, silvia plus helmet with suit, when last round of contest will be finished. plus several patches more to work properly =))

When does the game count your attempt as retry? When you have finished the certain sector and start again or when you press restart button in the mid of test? Or both?
Then, I wonder how PD will select real talented people from grinders? By time in Leaderboard only or they can track down number of attempts done by each and choose that talent? Or it will be kinda integral selection (random) from top X?

so, if some guy with wheel and no cheat tryed 100 times to do his time better, hi will be kicked off, and guy who did 10 attempts not with perfect but with good time and left the game will be chosen by PD, right?

Honestly, I would choose the last one.
Talent is what doesn't come with life experience. Either you were born with it or not...In a real car we have no time for gaining of experience, talented one must know what to do...
