Well done to all they guys getting into the 2:17 mark. I've been at it for hours and can only just break 2:20. I'm not a great driver but I'm not terrible. Just struggle to find that extra grip that seems to be there.
 
Good to see there is more people trying GT Academy Time Trial out and also being competitive.

Anyway REsuperG_ nearly topped Ti-tech85's time. Yet to see any of the times under 2:17 so will be interesting to see how close to limit both of them are.
 
The track 'boundaries' are horrific round the outside of turn 14. I didn't realise having half the car on the track was considered not being on it. :rolleyes:
 
Much respect to some of you guys. I consider myself respectably quick but a relative noob in car knowledge. Down to 2.21.777, feel like at my very best and with more practice 2.20s are doable and maybe 2.19s. Any more than that is a stretch.
 
Improved a bit further to a 2:17.047 :D Left over a tenth in the first sector, bit of finesse to be gained round the rest of the lap 👍

Hopefully you manage to get another corner right on a lap :lol: and get into the 2:16s. I think there is a high chance of you achieving that given the number of days left, qualification which is main thing I think you already have it covered by quite a long way. I guess you already know but Ti-tech85 has done 2:16.778. He always seems to extend his margin as others get close but I guess limit is very close already. Good luck on trying to beat him and put UK flag on P1 👍.
 
I have to say that of all the GT Academy combos down the years, this is the most enjoyable for me. Nailing any section of the track brings tremendous satisfaction, and there are so many good corners. I'm actually finding this combo more technical than driving at Suzuka and Spa - which I find a lot easier.

It's nice to play this game without pressure of competition, to qualify or putting it upon yourself to achieve a certain target, you can just enjoy the combo, the physics and learn a new track. I think I've already improved my overall driving in the game just in the 2 hour stints I've been doing every day since release 👍

Amazing performance by the UK drivers, it's really nice to see how close Bandit is to the top and EBK2, stunning effort bud!

Great job doodle! Are you running the wheel for this? I'm struggling to even match my 19.1. I'm clueless as to what to try. I get out braked entering every single corner, and have no idea how you guys are getting on the throttle so early.. Anywho. I suppose I will find my niche by the time GT academy 2014 rolls around Haha.

Not that this bothers me, i wonder what it would be like if you couldnt watch other guys replays an apex speeds.. I dont watch other guys laps or look at what their doing etc i just race my ghost, i think people focus to much on what other people are doing.. I think the main thing is that you focus on your own time an chase your ghost...
 
I find chasing my own ghost knowing where i make little mistakes in laps an where i can gain helps me alot more than a guys time which means nothing to me or even if i beat his time, i guess beating yourself is more rewarding for me :)
 
I am wondering where is Dan Holland in this site? (GTP_DHolland) Would love to see him and ti-tech85 competition. :D

I know what you mean, the only replay I have watched is Ti-Tech's 2:17.137 but I should get round to watching his new lap to see if there's any tricks to pick up on 👍 I'm following my own ghost though as find it easier to follow 👍
 
Grinded my time down to a 2:20.758 on the final qualifier (DS3 and Auto gearing user). Was up by another tenth but managed to mess up Vale on entry and especially exit (which I always seem to do). Don't think I'm gonna improve much more than that.

I don't have a full UK driving licence so could never advance through anyway, but I think it's great to be able to test how quick I am against all other players once a year :cheers:
 
I managed a time of 2:20.733 on Silverstone on the qualification TT the other day. Boy oh boy, the physics are amazing( but that's another story.) And I gonna get back later and try to lower the time. I'm planning around early 2:20 or less (I'm using a DS3 with MT with TCS1 and ABS1.)

But Stowe and the final corners mess me up since I can push hard while controlling the car, but I get alot of understeer, thus off the track! :mad: I usually be in the 4th gear and tap the throttle and steer into Stowe which works for me, but I need to find another way to be quicker to achieve lower times. 💡 Any suggestions?

The last part of the track is difficult indeed

I have not seen your replay, but I have gained a lot of time in stowe with later braking, and less braking.
According to gears I try to get early on the pedal in third gear

There is so much to be gained by just watching the fastest guys in the world, you find new techniques that you can use in this time trial and take away to use in others. You only get better by racing faster opponents, you should use all the information available, in my opinion.

Without the ability to watch the best do what they do, I wouldn't be as fast as I am now. Obviously we are not all the same, and we react in different ways, but you will find more time trust me. You'll be suprised what you learn :).

The best information you can possibly get is by watching the replays of the best in your region or indeed globally. Watch it in the camera view that you use and keep all the info on screen.

1st time watching - Take in the line that is used, you might see something you haven't thought about before.

2nd time watching - You should focus on the gears that are used and more importantly, the amount of throttle that is used on exits. You can also look for braking and turning points, but a ghost is better for that.

Don't worry, everyone struggles with Copse (Turn 9), sometimes you run wide, sometimes you get by, and that rare occasion that you nail it, it's just brilliant.

Try to maintain the highest speed throughout turns 10-14 whilst not sacrificing the next corner. Focus on a good angle for the exit onto the straight because that is very important.

I've got Copse pretty much nailed down, I down shift to fourth, wait a certain amount of time after the shadow and then flick the car in, getting the rotation whilst slowly lifting off the brake as I turn. If I clip the apex at 88-90mph I can usually just jam the throttle on really early giving me a great exit. Unfortunately I'm far from consistent through Maggots and Becketts which is where I usually ruin my laps :(
