I paid too much money for the game just to be left out of a competition like this.

GT Academy where HALF the world's drivers unite...

Up yours PD, your game is not a simulator, the online is crap and the offline isn't much better.

I hope the wall bouncing ***** that wins this comp puts your 350Z into the wall on lap 1.

:mad::banghead:🤬

^^^That's just a piece of what to describe what you are going through.

But I would think that PD would check if its a horrid lap or a good lap..If it was a guy slamming into the walls then they prob wouldn't count it....I hope not..lol

S*** happens. I do feel for those in other regions who can't compete in this competition, but at least the others have a more gracious attitude than yours. If you think GT5 is so rubbish then sell it and don't litter GTP with your sour grapes.

Does anyone know if it will be on pro physics?

BTW it says on the GTP home page that you can register at gtacademy.eu for this tournament. I have registered and I noticed that it did not ask for a PSN ID but an e-mail instead so hopefully putting on the e-mail that your PSN ID is registered should be enough info for PD.

Also do we just choose the 350z and go arcade TTs? or are we supposedly going to be downloading something from the store for this event?

The thing you've registered on that site isn't for the competition, it's just for general info on GT5P I think. The registration for the competition is tomorrow, and it will use the PSN ID.

Once you've registered, I'm presuming there'll be a special section in the online game modes for this, and *maybe* a special 350Z will be unlocked. If that's the case, I'd expect a download will be prompted for anyone who's registered.

gunna need to brush up on my skills for Eiger, i presume it's the stock 350z we will have to use? lol i cant wait to see how many people trying to cheat by wallriding, I race properly so add me if you wish, PSN is screen name off here :)

I can assure you, anyone attempting to wallride this event, will get nowhere

👍

And it's not even half the world, more like half of Europe

i'm just going to subscribe on the dutch site.
I don't think you have to be a citizen of these countries to sign up.
Those are just the available languages.

It could be that the selected Countires are the ones that are sponsoring the event within SCEE. This may also explain why the event is Europe only, because it's Sony Europe paying for it. When was the last time Europeans were allowed to enter an event organised by SCEA?

What do think about this?

Good or bad suggestion?

GT Academy could get a proffesional race driver to drive the track the competition is based on in the game using a steering wheel, pro physics, manual gear box and no driving aids and let them have it work a week or so, so that they get a really good time.

Then they will have all the telemetry for the race driver - his braking points, throttle braking openings gears and steering angle etc plotted on a graph.

Then whoever is closest to the proffesional drivers telemetry wins the competition?

Man, you should reconsider some serious professional help. With stance like that you wouldn't stand a 2 minute pressure in real-race..

I'm not sure if anyone else has thought about this, but during Stage Two - the national finals. I assume it is going to be a big lan match or something similar. Seems to me like Nissan would be better picking the best drivers, not necessarily the quickest. I'm sure this will be the case, it makes very little sense to throw someone who is really fast - but has little previous driving experience - into a 24 hour race prepped car.

At the "lan match", i'm sure they will be on the lookout for drivers who are thinking properly and racing clean yet aggressively. Not those who are setting really fast laps but at the cost of plowing someone else into the gravel - though I wonder how many top 2 TT guys are dirty racers?

This is all speculation of course..

LOL just want something new. Honestly i don't think of winning this.
My best place in a reasonable car was 80 or something like that...
Well you never know :)

👍

And it's not even half the world, more like half of Europe

Quel surprise, a negative comment.

On the subject of negative comments though, I'm presuming the "3rd June" new opening date for the comp is now no longer true, being that it's now 8PM GMT and it isn't working still...

a BIG F U goes out to sony, pd, and nissan for teaming up to screw over those in the US and other countries not allowed to enter 🤬

PART B: HOW DO I ENTER

1. The Online Time Trial
1.1 After registering their details, entrants can enter the Competition by completing an online time trial available in the Game. The time trial requires entrants to drive around the Eiger Nordwand track using the Fairlady z 07 car in the fastest possible time (“Time Trial”). Entrants must purchase a Fairlady z 07 car (by earning sufficient credits in the Game in the manner detailed in the same Game) to complete the Time Trial. The time that each entrant takes to complete the Time Trial will be recorded, stored and collated by the Promoter.

1.2 Entrants can complete as many Time Trials as they wish during the Entry Period.

1.3 The twenty entrants from each participating country or territory who have achieved the fastest Time Trials from all entries made within that country or joint territory by the closing date of the Competition (i.e. by the end of the Entry Period) (“Qualifying Entrants”) will qualify for stage two of the Competition, the National Final. For the purposes of this Competition, Austria and Germany shall be considered a territory and the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland shall be considered a territory.

2. The National Final
2.1. All Qualifying Entrants will be contacted in writing by the Promoter as soon as practicable after the closing date of the Competition (it is intended that this will be about 1 week after the closing date) and invited to take part in a National Final. In the event that a Qualifying Entrant does not wish to continue participating in the Competition or is disqualified from the Competition in accordance with the Terms and Conditions, the Promoter may, at its discretion, select a substitute entrant to become a Qualifying Entrant. Such substitute entrant shall be the entrant from the same participating country or territory as the original Qualifying Entrant, who registered the next fastest Time Trial.

2.2. The National Final will take place in each participating country or territory at a designated location, on dates to be specified (it is intended that it will take place within 1 month of the closing date of the Competition).

2.3. All Qualifying Entrants must complete a medical questionnaire and sign a participation agreement (and return such documentation to the Promoter) prior to participating in the National Final. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who eventually fails to comply with this requirement, or who the Promoter reasonably considers (based on the contents of the medical questionnaire) has a physical or mental condition which would make them unsuitable to participate in any part of GT Academy or could prevent the Qualifying Entrant from holding a competition licence for motor sports.

2.4. The content of the participation agreement will require Qualifying Entrants to:
2.4.1 confirm their acceptance of these Terms and Conditions;
2.4.2 commit to attending the event at Silverstone should they win the National Final;
2.4.3 commit to taking part in all necessary training and racing events leading up to and including the Dubai 2009 24 hour race should they win the event at Silverstone; and
2.4.4 consent to being interviewed, photographed and filmed during all stages of the Competition and the Prize and for any resultant footage, stills and audio to be used by the Promoter and the Sony group of companies, and Nissan, for their own promotional purposes in connection with the Competition, the Prize and/or the Game, in perpetuity, in all media, subject to the terms of Rule 1.13 under Part D “GENERAL” below.

2.5. During the National Final, Qualifying Entrants will be required to:
2.5.1 complete various time trials in the Game
2.5.2 take part in a number of challenges that will test their physical and mental aptitudes (including physical fitness)
2.5.3 undergo an MSA medical to confirm their fitness to participate in any part of GT Academy and to comply with all relevant international racing licence requirements. The MSA is the national sporting authority of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) in the UK.

2.6. The Promoter will be responsible for supplying all relevant equipment at the National Finals including a PS3 and a copy of the Game.

2.7. Up to three Qualifying Entrants from each National Final who have passed the medical and who have recorded the fastest time trials and been awarded the highest scores in the physical and mental challenges at the National Final (“National Final Winners”) will win the opportunity to participate in the GT Academy, described below.

PART C: THE PRIZE – GT ACADEMY

1. Silverstone Event (“Event”)
1.1. All National Final Winners will be notified in writing by the Promoter as soon as practicable after the National Final (it is intended that National Final Winners will be contacted within 1 week of the date of the National Final) and invited to take part in the Event (a four day event which will take place at Silverstone racing circuit in the UK on dates to be specified). It is intended that the Event will take place within 6 weeks of the date of the last National Final. National Final Winners must claim their prize within 10 working days of the notification.

1.2. In the event that a National Final Winner does not wish to continue participating in the Promotion, or fails to claim their Prize within the relevant deadline, or is disqualified from the Promotion in accordance with the Terms and Conditions, the Promoter may at its discretion select a substitute Qualifying Entrant to become a National Final Winner. Such substitute entrant shall have participated in the same National Final as the original Qualifying Entrant and shall have passed all relevant medical tests and recorded the next fastest time trials and been awarded the next highest scores in the physical and mental challenges at the National Final.

1.3. The following shall be arranged for each National Final Winner:

1.4.2 compete in a series of real driving events against other National Final Winners
1.4.3 take part in a number of rigorous challenges that will test their physical and mental aptitudes (including physical fitness)

1.5. An independent panel of up to 6 expert judges will be present during the Event and will evaluate each National Winner based on their performance during each driving event and challenge. The objective judging criteria to be implemented in this part of GT Academy will be explained in more detail to National Final Winners during the Event. The judges’ names shall be available on request to the Promoter.

1.6. Following completion of the Event, the judges will select the two National Final Winners who have demonstrated the best overall performance and the greatest potential to become a professional racing car driver at this phase of the Competition (the “Silverstone Winners”). Such Silverstone Winners shall win an opportunity to take part in a training programme, apply for an international competition licence and, subject to obtaining such a licence, the opportunity to drive at the Dubai 2009 24 hour race.

1.7. In the event that a Silverstone Winner does not wish to continue participating in the Competition, or is disqualified from the Competition in accordance with the Terms and Conditions, the Promoter may at its discretion select a substitute National Final Winner to become a Silverstone Winner. Such substitute entrant shall be the National Final Winner from the Event who passed all relevant medical tests and demonstrated the next best overall performance and potential to become a racing car driver during the Event phase of the Competition.

1.8. The names of the Silverstone Winners will be announced on the last day of the Event.

2.2 Each Silverstone Winner:

2.4 Silverstone Winners will be required to sign a motorsport related management contract with the relevant racing team or its agents before the commencement of any training. Such contract will contain a prohibition on the Silverstone Winner driving for another professional racing team during the course of the Competition. Silverstone Winners may be required to provide written confirmation from their employer (if applicable) that their employer is willing for them to participate in the Competition.

2.5 Silverstone Winners must comply with all training requirements laid down by the Promoter and/or the racing team. The provision of training is not a guarantee that a Silverstone Winner will obtain an international competition licence from the MSA and the Promoter or Nissan shall not be held liable in the event that such a licence is not granted for any reason. In the event that a Silverstone Winner is unable to obtain an international competition licence, the opportunity to race at the Dubai 2009 24 hour race shall be withdrawn and no alternative prize or opportunity will be offered.

2.6 The cost of each Silverstone Winner’s international competition licence application fee and applicable European postage fee charged by the MSA, and any entry fees to training events and races shall be covered by the Promoter or its agents, and Silverstone Winners shall be provided with all relevant racing uniform, equipment and vehicles at the various racing events.

3.5. There is no guarantee that a Licence Holder will race in the Dubai 2009 24 hour race. This is a matter which will ultimately be decided by the motor racing team and is at their sole and absolute discretion.

PART D: GENERAL

1.1 All entrants must adhere to the PlayStation Network Terms and Conditions available at http://network.eu.playstation.com/tosua/index.html.

1.2 No applications from agents, third parties, organised groups or applications automatically generated by computer will be accepted. No incomplete, illegible or corrupted entries will be accepted. Entrants may be required to sign such terms and conditions of Third Party Suppliers. The Promoter and Nissan reserve the right to withdraw and/or disqualify a participant from the Competition at any time during the Competition and prohibit a participant from taking part in any further motor racing activity if he/she does not agree to sign such Third Party Suppliers’ terms and conditions or fails to abide by such terms and conditions. The Promoter and Nissan also reserve the right to notify the foregoing disqualification or withdrawal from the Competition to competent international sport authorities.

a BIG F U goes out to sony, pd, and nissan for teaming up to screw over those in the US and other countries not allowed to enter 🤬
From the website, it looks like the competition was set up by Sony Europe. If you really have an issue with not being included, take it up with Sony US (or whatever they are called), instead of us.

Well its a good job i put im 18 when i did my PSN account :)
I'd imagine they did that because of some legal term, so if you're not 18, if you get to stage 2 they probably wouldn't let you go on anyways.

There doesn't seem much point you entering if you're under 18 and it's stated in the t&c you must be over 18, you could be taking the place from a valid competitor.

If you are over 18, it doesn't matter, your post was a bit vague.
