Do you honestly believe that GT5 had consistent damage across all cars and this is just an example of it being applied differently due to the cars being different?
I never said that it did. I pointed out that using an example from gt5 could be a better one. Wrc cars don't have to have airbags or many other forms of road safety their road car counterparts do.

If we are taking about consistency, we are going down a steep path. If you do it consistently then you verge on damage looking like it's predetermined. In a recent Forza 7 video of the ai's blunders (in the GTS video comparison thread), you can see that the most if not all (race)cars feature the same exact damage to the splitter and nose when they bump into the car ahead. If that's what we get, will it be a good enough damage model? It seems to me that no matter what GTS does in features like this it's not.

Which still misses the point.

The post I replied to was making a claim that GTS will have a consistent level of damage, and that level was because of manufacturers.

The GT5 example shows that's not the case, and its not as if it was even consistent across all rally cars, let alone race cars.

I'm not the one advocating a set consistency.

It never really bothered me that much in GT5, and still doesn't. I'm quite comfortable for example with road and race cars having differing level of damage. The factors around why are both obvious and understandable.

I've not expressed a position on GTS damage model, nor stated it will be at a consistent level. As such I'm not the person you should be asking.

GT5 would like a word with you if you think that you have to have it, as this certainly wasn't unified across the game.

You don't have to have it, however the point was that the lowest level of common acceptable damage for manufacturers is higher than GT currently shows, as such 'because manufacturers' is not the reason for it.
Hell I don't think even WRC7 has better car models than those, well scrap them!

These models would still look amazing on PS4. I wonder if they can still use the ones designed for adaptive tessellation. They were PS5 quality.

I just hope they are not parked by a paywall.

I don't think they'd be greedy to this extent. After the amout of criticism they received for the lack of content, they'd at least bump the amount of cars up to 300 or so if they could, but clearly those models aren't good enough.

Don't get me mixed up with someone who's disagreeing with you. I said I got your point, then I pointed out there's better examples of inconsistent damage in gt5. That's all. I'm saying WRC cars losing doors etc. is great, but what happens if road cars lose doors too?

And that's why I said what I did before about road cars not losing body parts like those WRC cars. Not just for realism, but how would that go down with manufacturer's and the representation of their vehicles in the game? (that's a rhetorical question btw)

I thought the paragraph break signaled I was speaking in general, not asking you. 👍

But those iconic SSS, SS, RH in the car wear icon, what are they?
Any idea about it?

You mean the tyre compounds? Sport Super Soft, Sport Soft, Racing Hard?
Thanks for the clarification, being Italian I did not understand that those abbreviations were related to the type of tire.

I turn the damage off in GT6 too. Replays look better without them^^

I think the best solution for photo mode/replay goodness would be a simple "reset damage" option, a la Forza Horizon 3.

It strikes me as odd more games don't do that — including, bizarrely, the Motorsport games...

DriveClub does it.
