When I was 5, I was absolutely rubbish, I remember I got a 5 minute lap time for SS Route 11. After two months or so, I got a bit better, but In the US vs Japanese cup, I always lost to that damn Impreza Rally Edition with my Viper RT/10 :) After alot of tries I won and I was thrilled with the Viper GTS/R. Although I still like the Castrol Supra GT alot more.

As my PS2 has died now, I have a craving for Gt.

So I've been on Ebay and bought myself GT1 and a Madcatz dual force racing wheel for my still working PSX.

Just waiting to recieve my game as I already have the wheel.

Hopefully I get it tomorrow morning.

It's going to be a great weekend !! 👍

Sounds like it! How's that Madkatz wheel? I think I bought one earlier this year but couldn't get used to it.

Yeah. Sometimes, you need to just use the controller to handle better. Wheels, for me, can't turn or accelerate as well as the controller.

I tried a wheel in my GT3 days...wound up taking that 🤬 back to the store! :( I'm simply way better with a dual-shock, but still...that wheel wasn't top-line or anything..I wonder how a decent wheel would be...if I could configure it not to be so damn sensitive!

You said it! I've had it with the wheels! I tried one once, and it was so terrible!!! I like DualShock, because it has vibration.

But I must say, the style of the wheel is cool. :)

I remember when I first got it... I HATED it! I was stuck somewhere in the beginnings of the A licence exam and I could hardly make enough money to get a second used car. Somehow, a couple of weeks ago I discovered it again and really got into it. I got much better, got great cars and 1 more test and i've got the AI licence. Unfortunately GT1's great times are over and it's hard to catch hold of one who is still willing to play it hardcore with you---
I would give anyone a hardcore race on GT1, even today. The only problem is nobody ever wants to. Still, now I am busy working at completeting TDU!

I can't get used to my racing wheel, it's so damn sensitive and I cannot for the life of me find a way to configure it to work with GT. Does anyone have the correct configuration for the Mad Catz Dual Force Racing Wheel in conjunction with GT ?

I briefly owned a Mad Katz wheel. This was when I was doing GT3. All I can say is I bought it bc I wanted to try a wheel and it was cheap, but within a week I had taken it back to the store. Maybe a more expensive wheel is the answer for me, but for now I stick with the DS2.

Ouch! I did that once, and the event that took me so long to complete (Hard-Tuned Car Championship) had to be done all over again, just like *that*.

One of my best memories is when I first started playing career mode on GT1, was when I was doing a race, cant rember what series or what track or what car for that matter, but here is the thing I can rember. You see, I learned my trade playing the Wacky Races video game on PS1. Now, on that game you can use you weapons to attack your rivals by pressing the L1 button, and you could fly for a few seconds by using R1. Now, when I was doing a race on GT1, I was in 2nd place on the last lap, so to try and overtake the 1st place car, I pressed the L1 button thinking that a weapon was going to come flying out my car, then stop him in his tracks. Then I rembered what game I was playing...

I started with Ford Racing. In that game, R1 is upshift and L1 is downshift, so I kept that the same for GT (instead of R2 & L2). So I forget what happens when you press L1 default...it would downshift for me, what about you?

I never used manual shift on GT1 when I started, but I was about nine then. Thing is, there was no manual shift on the Wacky Races game, so I was more used to automatic. But now when I go on GT1 I usally use manual shift, and I'm good at it aswell!

I started using manual shift as an accident (again) in my Ford Racing days. I did Ford Racing just before GT1 as a sort of preamble--to get me ready. Anyways, one day I screwed up before a race and wound up with a manual shift instead of automatic, but I got used to it quick.

I began using manual transmission when playing the GT1 demo. The NSX especially (took a while to notice there were two other cars available anyway), tended to kick itself down a gear and then get power-on oversteer unless I controlled the throttle response by keeping it in a higher gear.

When I said now when I go on GT1 I use manual shift, I meant I did when I started playing it again a few months ago. However I cant now, since my GT1 disc has snaped, and I have not been able to get a new one, since school has started again, so there is no time. This weekend though, I should be able to...

Best of luck in finding one, Skid Mark 33.

I never got used to the manual transmission, only seriously using it in GT3, driving the Subaru Impreza Rally Car Prototype. I made a half-hearted effort in GT2 with the Nissan 300ZX-GTS and with the Ford Escort Rally Car, and in GT1, I used the '67 Corvette to practice driving with a manual transmission, and with the front-wheel drive del Sol in License Test B-3.

I still haven't gilded it to this day...

My fondest memory from GT1 would have to be the FTO LM in green... Easily the best car in the game.

I remember entering a local GT1 competition organised by my friendly games store. Only about 30 people entered, but over the course of several weeks, we would all gather in the store and have a 5 round knockout with every other player. We had our own choice of car, but tracks were pulled from a hat at random. Each race was 5 laps.

I was unbeaten and had won every knockout tournament I played using my black FTO LM... but there was this young kid, only about 16 who I hadn't noticed as his rounds were always at different times to mine and he'd always won his games too. We finally met on the last day and 3 times my worst track came up, and he kicked my ass 5-0 with his green FTO LM.

Nothing to do with the colour of the car, it was all down to driver skill and car setup.

Needless to say I bought the car of him for my collection and challanged him to a fun rematch using untuned stock compacts... and beat him 5-0 on some of my more favourite tracks. :)

So I came 2nd in the tourney, but exacted some revenge when our cars were even. :)

Great fun and memories... GT2 was good, GTA3 was ok... no longer own a PS of any kind... and leaning more towards the Xbox360 as Forza on my old Xbox was seriously cool and more than a match for GT.

If I could, I'd buy them all. :)

Yeah well I still use automatics occasionally. Maybe 10% of the time I'll use AT. Depends on the car and the situation. Some cars (in real life) aren't offered as manuals at all for instance, and I like to simulate this.

You sure? The green can be a bit of an eyesore for opposing drivers, causing them to be blinded and their focus to shift off their car and to finding the nearest eye-care station...

Anyways, late as it is, congratulations on 2nd place, and sweet revenge afterwards.

This is awesome, having actual GT rounds and stuff. Where do you live?

They most certainly don't. Now GT is much like the Z cars: they're great, but they completely lost focus on what made the first installment such an excellent one. The 260Z and the 280ZX shifted towards comfort, which everyone bought, but the original Z car, the 240Z, was meant as a performer. This made the purists cry, and I bet some do too for GT.

Are you a purist, poolio?

Poolio hasn't been here forever. Welcome back. I forget which thread you started when you got here awhile back....it was a good one.

He hasn't?

However, I mean that he sniffed, like this: *sniff* accompanied with:

they just don't make them like this anymore

(or roughly that). The point is, I stated that:

...and it seemed that poolio was wiping a tear from his eye as he spoke of GT.

Anyways, welcome back, poolio.
