First. How long has this thread been open for? If it's been open for a while, then how in the hell did I overlook it? Seriously sweet pics guys. All of them are new to me.

Call me dumb, but the car I'm looking forward to driving the most, is actually Petter Solbergs SWRT car.
Actually, this thread only opened some 8-odd hours ago!

WOW!!! 5 pages in that time. I'm loving that new GVS too. The bridge looks amazing.
I've slowly grown to love GVS in GT3. I now love it even more! 👍 👍

Isn't the last pic from Forza? If you ask me, that doesn't look half as nice as the GT4 shots.

Cuda-dude, yeah I think you're right...that is the S7

Nah, I don't think thats forza. The snow track is Nur snow and the rally one is Grand Canyon.

These are some bloody gnarly pictures! I wan't GT4 now! :grumpy:

If you are in the Pittsburgh area, John's sending a Texas-sized shoutout to #8 Pitt Central Catholic High School for deafeating their rival high school Penn Hills (PA) by the score of (I think) 39-1?. Good job, high school gridirons!

It's a blowout? Who's blowing out who? Oh wait... this isn't college football. All jokes aside, Cobragt does it again. Let me tell you something. If I don't get GT4 before or during Christmas, I'd surely like it for my 22nd birthday the month after. About Post #7 by Tiptopcream, the second picture looks like Grand Valley, but not like the GT3 version. For those who played GT1 or GT2 may recall a city or something in the background. GT4 looks to bring that back. If Grand Valley is fictional, someone needs to bring this track to life. It's a great racing locale not to mention the G.V. 300km. Damn it to hell, man... GT4 has no equal. It's going to be the standard for which seperates good games from great games. My only thing is, I hope to race in an LMP around that bad boy. What do I have in mind? Post #20 from Tiptopcream.

All in good fun with another GTPlanet member, I feel like I'm going to faint looking at these b*tchin' pictures! Yep, I'm going to fail this semester... :D

You know I love Paris (if not Tokyo). And these screenshots are amazing. When it comes into getting into GT4, this is what we live for, GT4. Not so much the lovely pictures, but knowing the fact that you can load this angellic offering into your PS2 and play the holy crap out of it. This is a good day for GTPlanet, as well as all the other GT fans!

Thanx for the pix, I'm completely blown away, someone said the pic with the bridge was Trial Mountain, but it's more like Grand Valley.

CARS CAN GET DIRTY!!!at gamespot go to page 4 and go to pic 6 the pic with solburgs subaru and look at the front left.it has snow on it!

Here's more reaction to the GT4 pictures courtesy of I, John.

GRAND VALLEY REACTION: You know, I think PD must have been looking at GTPlanet and getting our ideas and thoughts. I mentioned that the views of Grand Valley have kind of gone straight to Hell by taking out the fantastic view when going past the bridge. I kind of missed the little city view as well, but that seems to be back. On top of that, that Grand Valley view has never looked better since... GT2! Seeing the city is kind of like that MotoGP circuit in Brazil. You know, the one with the nice mountains and city in the background? Yeah, the Rio oval's infield road course. I actually think Grand Valley never looked better.

EL CAPITAN REACTION: Let me tell you something. I'm going to like racing this track. Having fiddled with Trial Mountain, this one should be a much sweeter event. Oh yeah, player. I'm digging this track bigtime. It looks more like making a street course out of Trial Mountain. But I don't know it if will have the notable stuff like the straightaway coming out of the tunnel, the sweeping turn after that straight, and oh yeah... the chicane that p*sses off speedfreaks (like yours truly, but I can deal). We'll see come release day, no?

[MORE] PARIS REACTION: If I don't love Tokyo, surely Paris. Paris ia such a wonderful city. You got the Cathedral of Notre Dame, Le Arc de Trimophe, and of course, the Eiffel Tower. And Paris will see more attractions... that is, a Fina McLaren F1 or a Saleen S7 going up and down the streets. I see Renaults in there. Wanna bet the Espace F1 will be in? (^_^)

Anyhow, it's some wonderful stuff. I like. Or as we would say in Spanish, "me gusta." And another thing. I'm going to make two guesses about the picture in Post #60, page 3:

a.) El Capitan, and/or b.) (call me crazy, but) the Test Course oval

What is that orange car? Is that the Volkswagen W12? man, I wish it was a Koenigsegg CC8S

Motegi-Oval should be a nice change from the test track as well. BTW anyone know what the old Fuji Speedway was like compared to the current layout, since its included as well?

Here is a pretty image I drew, the black one is the current one we have in Prologue and the red the 1980s version. Without the black chicanes the track is very, very fast and in real life dangerous!

And here on the official FISCO site it has the original banked corner on the far right of the track shown in as dotted lines. I think today that whole embankment has been demolished. It is also highly probably my 1980 track map is wrong.

Thanks for that thumb Alpha I suppose you could say the original version is close in layout (fast) like High Speed Ring. Thats two more warpspeed tracks to choose from. :)

Go to page 4 , Post #66 !!! :trouble:
I believe the car in the back is the ...
Merc CLK-GTR-LM
Have fun , y'all , but don't drool all over your keyboard , like I am . ;)

You can already experience the 1980's Fuji in Prologue because they only blocked the old ways off with cones and a sandtrap to slow you down a bit, it's havoc if your car decides to understeer on the final bend because as soon as you hit the grass on the outside it pulls you towards the wall. The tracks are definately warpspeed!

So what if the pics are big, the texture res wasn't upped, only the pic's res was upped so they can be used as wallpaper. That vid is ingame and it looks just as good as the pics if not better since it's in motion

Cobra as i understand it the Texture res isnt upped because they are designed to be seen crisp and sharp in Photo mode at its maximum resoloution, and it is only when viewed at that resoloution, either on PC or Printed out that they will be fully realised.
What you will actually see on your TV will be a Half as crisp and sharp, and therefore these pictures do not represent, truly what you will experience playing the game, even in Photomode, the textures will loose the high res definition you see in these pics.

In otherwords GT4s engine doesnt up the res of the pics or the textures, it downsizes them to tv res, GT4 will never look that detailed unless you Print it Out.

That orange car is the Volkswagen W12, Event Horizon. In my earlier months on GTPlanet, one of my predictions came true. The prediction I made was that cars from GT Concept COULD be in GT4. And so far, some of the machinery from GTC are in the GT4 pictures. I'm pretty sure that we'll see some effects like a picture I seen once. The picture featured the AU Cerumo Toyota Supra going off into the grass and kicking up leaves at Autumn Ring.

One Winged Ange... you SURE that's the High Speed Ring? And I think if you're going to have Motegi's oval, you MUST have the road course. Hell, that can be your test track even if you don't have a Honda/Acura. It's pretty cool looking at this stuff. This isn't American football, but I'll keep on studying film (in other words, perhaps see some more GT4 videos and examine the pictures more. Until then, if they say December 2004, I'll be waiting, damn it!

Why is PD showing us what the game would look like if it was released on the PC instead of how it actually looks on the PS2?
the graphics of course are exactly the same in the game compared to the pitcures.. except for one little detail.. GT4 is something like 640x240 Intercaled. and those pitcures are from a progressive source (photomode) at even 1024x1400!
so that's just how the game would look like on:
-a PC monitor on a PC with a powerful videocard.
-an HDTV hooked up to a PC
-a PS3.
a PS2 can't handle more resolution than 640x240 intercalled for GT4, just compare those pics to the real in game pics and you'll see the difference is striking (specially since some of those shots even have motion blur!)
don't get me wrong, the game looks fantastic even at low resolution, but i think it's misleading to show Photo mode pitcures as if they were in game pitcures.

EDIT: Fixed some typos.

Because 640x480 interlaced looks like crap on a pc monitor unlike on your TV screen.
Just like these hi-res screens, 640x480i screenshots wouldn't represent what you see on your TV either. So it's a bit hard..
Maybe a 640x480p screenshots with lots of anti aliasing would represent TV image quality.

^ I think that's a map of the Nurburgring snow rally.

Is that the Saleen S7R???

Nope, theres a normal S7, a C5-R and GTS-R.

Note the XKR is 2 laps down after nine laps AI driving and 2 pit stops, TVR speed six 1 lap down and 1 pit stop and worn tyres,
Ditance from leader in Metres, and fuel guage.
Wonder what the 29/40 is ?. Looks like this screen is showing the B spec mode race being ran at 2X normal speed, meaning it will take 1/2 the normal time to finish
