Bought Riding Spirits 2 to keep me going - sure its no Gran Turismo, but is much better than the first one with far more tracks and bikes. Also can race 12 instead of just 6 with many many races.

Handling has improved.

(Sorry this isn't exactly GT, but it is in the same category, although inferior)

The problem with holding out for a certain manufacturer or car is that in the time taken to secure the deal and model the car, something new will emerge, so they'll have to add that, or redo another car to update it, and you wind up adding content indefinitely. Then you need to change game engines or technology and you wind up with Duke Nukem Forever.

They can't delay GT4 any longer, there'd be uproar! GT games had previously come out every two years:

GT1 1997
GT2 1999
GT3 2001
Spot on, but GT4 is already one year behind, and if they delay it any more, it'll be two!

my pre sell ticket says 9/1 -9/15

I don't see the PS3 becoming a reality before the end of 2005, so yeah, you've got a while to wait. In the interim, you'll have this nifty little game called GT4 to play for a while. Bit of a holdover.

With the online play I wholy expect GT4 to last 2 years as the premier GT title, if not more.

As Eagle said I'm pretty sure it will take you at least 2 years to fully experience gt4. By that time the ps3 will be released ans so will gt5 :D

Hey, all this talk about release dates, GT4, GT5, PS3, is causing me to laugh.

So far, the rumor is, GT4 will be released in November 2004. The license agreements for Ferrari end in 2005. Kaz said he will wait for Ferrari if it means he would have to hold the release date of GT4 again. He also said that Ferrari is not possible for GT4, perhaps to throw us off? He did that for GT3 regarding F1 cars. He lied to us when he said F1 cars wont be in GT3, or did he? F1 type cars were in GT3, but not F1 cars. But that will change for GT4 now that Sony have the F1 license, but individual factory cars might not be available due to normal/regular license limitations.

I bet he does wait if the Ferrari license ends January 1, 2005. Why wouldn't he? It would be very stupid for Kaz to release GT4 in November when it's so close to getting the Ferrari license in Jan. of 2005. Unless he knows he can't get the Ferrari license until GT5.

So, maybe someone else has their grummy little paws on our baby. Who could it be? I say it's Konami. Yep. The wrench in the works has to be another big gaming company that is just dying to piss on PD's parade. Did you see the video footage of Konami's new racing game? Wow. They mean businees.

So, GT4 will be here Nov. 2004, if not for the Ferrari license. Then it would be March 2005, I suppose.

If not longer:D

But then I still play GT1, GT2 and GT3

Don't believe a racing game is "over" when you get 100%. Sure I can win every race pretty easily, so I use the simple solution of using a less powerful car so that the competition is still strong.

I haven't grown bored of GT3 yet. 3 years down the line and I still play for at least an hour a week - usually a lot longer:D

I said "if not more" :p And you've hit precisely what I was entailing, that with the online aspect, this game will continue to be as fun and competitive and interesting as GT3 and perhaps longer (it depends if we have a new incarnation to play before 3 years is up).

Solid Lifters raises a point so valid it's frightening... That's certainly food for thought.

I apologise for double posting, but it is in fact almost a day since my other post, so it's warranted.

I've come to the conclusion that time travel never becomes a viable thing in the future. Otherwise, someone would come back and gift us copies of GT4 now. I mean really, you can't tell me every member here would hoarde them and laugh at the past, looking through some time vortex, enjoying our suffering. I at least would come back and give it to me as a birthday present, along with the winning Lotto numbers for that week.

So yeah, bad news on the time travelling front.

You are all complaining a bit too much :)
I waited for Harpoon 4 for 9 and a half years. 2 months before it was supposed to be released this year, Ubisoft cancels it, when you´ve done that, you can complain about frustration :D

Ehm why would he wait. Just don't include the unlicenced brands yet and when the licences are released again, just put the cars online for download. Licences are no reason for delay.

Haven't you heard that the PS2 can go online, all you need is a PS2 internet connection.

I did know that we could play online, I didn't know that we could download stuff on it, because I remember I read somewhere that you couldn't download cars and tracks to the PC version of NFS:U because those with the PS2 wasn't able to download them. And since the PC version were able to play against the ps2 version online that would have been chaos or something like that.

But if you say it is possible, it probably is.

Sure, you are joking:lol:

I'm told that there also will be HDD support in GT4. The only reason for this is downloadable content. Even in the official sony press conference GT4 was mentioned along with downloadable content. I'm sure new cars and maybe tracks will be available for download.....eventually.;)

One thing I have'nt noticed anyone mention is race mods. KY has said he wan'ts them back, but to make a car with a race mod means making 2 models of that car, takin up twice the time, and space. He has said some cars will have body kits but what about making the kits for the rest of the cars downloadable.

hehe... This is becoming like a PC installation.

Select the components you wish to install:
[ ] Racing Modifications
 └ [ ] Racing Modification ($Car)

This was a rumor circulating around about 7-8 months ago I touched on. Yes, Kaz could release the game, back then the release date rumor was December 2003 for Asia and Jan-Feb 2004 for North America, then wait for the Ferrari license to end so he could then have Ferraris available for download. However, there is no way he would ever do this. Not everybody will have online capabilities, and he would literally piss off a bunch of GT series fans. I know Sony love this idea, since it would make them a lot of money selling HDD and modems, but there is now way Kaz would ever allow it.

The addition of Ferrari to the GT series would be way to important for it to show up as a cheesy online gimmick. This is probably the main reason why Kaz would never go for it. I think Ferrari are not crazy for this idea either.

A big marque like Farrai or Porsche won't appear online when the vast majority of PS2 owners arn't. Lesser marques would appear though. I personally think Ferrari and Porsche will be a selling point for GT5.
