GT4 Strategies: How will YOU attack the game???

Street Fighter, but with a new name comes a reformed person.

And a new color (I noticed Famine uses some dark purple color. Not like this one).

Hmm, doesn't ring a bell. Anyway if you had a reputaion under that name it doesn't bother me. It's what your like now thats important and so far you've been ok.
 
how will i 'attack' the game...mmm well lets see...

1. I'll get used to the 'improved' physics engine with the DFP, play arcade for a few mins.
2. Look Around the various car lots (used & new)
3. Do as many licence tests as possible
4. When im finaly p**st off with the harder tests, ill just give up for the time being, head to the used car section, grab a car and head for the beginner leagues.

Yeah, me too. The high score system is a good way to show off your skills. If I do want a fair race, however, I would have to drive as slowly as the ai is, which is more fun because you're constantly battling for position.
I remember playing GT2 one day, and the race was in the "Gran Turismo All Stars" bracket. I was on Red Rock Valley Speedway with the "all stars" of GT: 1999 Toyota GT-One Race Car, Alfa Romeo 155 Touring Car, etc, and the car I was driving was.... (drumroll, please) The Amemiya Racing RX-7 race car! To refresh your memory, it had a 446hp. Turbocharged Rotar2 Rotory engine, weighed 2160lbs, 326lb. ft. of Tourque, and was FR. Equipped with Soft Compound Racing tires, With that configuration I attempted to win the race. It was easy to get around the other slower cars, but the GT-One was a fighter. the only part of the track that it managed to pass me on was obviously the straigtaway, but I was too quick for it in the chicanes, and so I finished the race, around 2 seconds ahead of it, in first place! I was surprised that I could keep up with the GT-One, but then again the ai isn't that fast, now is it?

It's quite possible in an Amemiya RX7. ;). Most special racers can handle the AI in that races, and so can some 'tuned' and 'Catrolized' cars. I don't commit suicide, so the least hardcore car I've won that race in was a Supra RZ, pumping ~700 horses. It's fairly heavy, though ;). Good job making it in a GT300 👍

Wow, that's a powerful Supra, but i'll never drive one of those monsters. Any Supra with over 640hp is only good on the test course. That's another one of my most hated cars. It performs just like the Dodge Viper, but I guess all FR are like that.
 
Simple. Through fastest way to unlocking Nurburgring. Then, slowest possible way to finish the game, relishing every moment.

Off topic: I had a wish list when GT3 was about to be released: Nurburgring Nordschlieffe, McLaren F1, and a Ferrari or two. PD was kind enough to fulfill 2/3 of my wishes. Now GT4 is blessed with de la Sarthe. I am in heaven. Still no Ferrari but the stable of M3's will more than make up for it!

'Touge Master' is the username I use for almost all the forums I join. I don't consider my self by any means close to being the master of anything. I just like the way it sounds.
 
Im gonna play a slow-paced game up until I unlocked the Milktruck....Ooops, I meant that Wagon thingy. Than im going to just play around with that until I figure out how to make it do a willy like the Toyota GT1 from GT3.:eek:
 
The strategy I planned to follow, and then started doing when I got GT4 on Saturday is to make progress without rerunning the same race for extra cash. This requires efficient use of cash so I ran the license tests until I got a car then I started racing it with the minimum of mods needed to win a series and get the next car. Rinse and repeat. When I get stuck with limited cash and no cars eligible for racing I will go back to the license tests to get more cars.

The strategy works but it is annoying to complete a series only to discover the prize car is not eligible for any races. I won the Motor Triathlon Race Car and much to my annoyance found it can't be raced anywhere. Further it isn't worth anything so there is no point in selling it.

One thing I screwed up with GT3 that I plan to do differently : Do NOT read the prize car list. Much more fun to race when you don't know what you are getting.

Part two is working towards aquiring the Polyphony Digital Formula Car...basically taking the shortest route towards the Nurburgring 24 hr endurance race.

If anyone has a better idea on how to accomplish that, by all means let me know.

Use They F1 championsship to get the F1, but do it later on, else you won't be competitive and you NEED Super License for your plan to work.
You also need an fully tuned and setuped Sauber C9 . With that you will still be ass kicked in corners, but you ahve to make up the lose in the straights.
 
I think i´m gonna make a lap on The nurb and The Le mans Course first and then try getting all of the licenses. i know i can get the first 2 easily ( I think those are the same as in GT4P) and then go look at the cars at the car manufactures. Then get started with beginner league :)
 
I'll probably go the classic way...

1 - Get all my liscences... not necessairly all the golds, i'll have time to polish my skills later and through some action racing.

2 - then hit the arcade mode at hard level to unlock the maximum of cars / tracks from the arcade mode...

3 - probably i'll start a couple of basic racing leagues when i'll get bored of the arcade mode (after 20... i'll start the simulation mode).

4 - After that... try to get the perfect score for the winning %age ;)
 
  • get acquainted with the game's physics through Arcade
  • take license tests
  • go through simulation till 100%
  • get every car in GT mode for the Arcade mode
  • achieve all golds on the licenses
  • crack a bottle of beer and view the ending and admire your game status
 
take a few days off from work (paid vacation ;)), buy a DFP with the cool seat thingie at FRY's.. stock up on food and drink.. turn off phones, lock doors, lock windows. Then I'll play till my eyes can't focus.. muahahaha...

back to reality.. I'll play it the same as all the other GT games. Buy a cheap car, race it until it can win some 10,000cr race. Race that race a few times, buy something AWD turbo and race that till I eventually get some JGTC car or something of the supercar nature. Race big money races and get to drifting. >8D

Me to, in Arcade mode, but Le Sarthe can't, cause thats unlocked only after a long time.

You can't use Arcade Mode to unlock things, what are you talking about in 3? There are no leauges in Arcade, only in Gran Turismo Mode(= Simulation Mode)
 
Im planning to do things differently too this time around. First I'll finish arcade then once in sim mode I'll buy one FWD car and work through as much as I can with it, then one 4WD and one mid engined car. I will do as much as I can with 3 tuned cars only. They will be FTO GR (the car I own in real life), EVO VI RS and a Lotus Esprit. I will only move unto tuning other cars I might have won once these become uncompetitive.....which I imagine will be a long time! :)
 
1. Try out all the cars & tracks initially available in Arcade mode & watch the lovely new graphics in lots of replays, enjoying the feeling of actually having GT4 finally before knuckling down.
2. All licenses, but not all gold. Just so I am free to enter any race.
3. Try not to repeat any races already won in GT mode, unless no other option.
4. Get all the Aussie cars as soon as I can afford them and set them up for drifting. :)
5. Random path through the game trying to finish all races. I won't rush it, but will always get sidetracked mucking round with random fun stuff.
6. Eventually get to 100%, but probably will lack the intraveinous drip required to attempt the 24hr stuff in A-spec! That will be the only time I foresee using B-spec.
7. Endless experimenting with cars, drifting, getting two of each car in the game. One will be stock, one tuned to muck with, if garage allows.
8. Drift the Benz Patent Motor Wagen 👍

Then you will be wasting your time, as arcade mode does nothing in GT4, unlike GT3. You must run in GT mode in order to unlock cars in arcade mode.

From what I've seen, the best approach is to get all of your licenses, do as much of mission hall as you can, then start off the rest of GT mode with a few cars in the garage, and a nice chunk of change to buy something that'll get you further when you need it.
 
I will probably be starting out in a slow car, and making my way through the game, avoiding getting all golds in the licenses (it makes the game too easy).
 
I will probably start (as many have mentioned before) by testing the game's physics out in arcade mode. Preferrably my first lap will be the beautiful Aston Martin DB9 on the Nürburgring. After that "wow-experiance" (hopefully) I'll start sim mode by probably searching through what used cars I can afford to start with. I have the savegames from GT3 and GT4:P but I will not use them. I want to start off as slowly as possible. After deciding on a car I'll buy it, upgrade it slightly if I can and then run a race or two before doing the first licence.. Then race some more until I have to/decide to do the next licence.. I won't bother ar first with getting gold or anything like that (because I'm not good enough) but will maybe return to give it a shot! :)
