No, they arn't. Playability is, if neither games fun then good graphics are pointless, since both claim to be sims, the second most important thing would be to make them sims while keeping that playability and then the graphics would come in. If as an example, Forza ends up looking miles better, but it handles like Ridge race, and GT4 ended up handling like GT3, GT4 would be the better game by far, even though Forza looked so much better (thats just an example ny the way, not my opinion).


How'd you work that one out when it's the most wanted sim on the PC.

I know that, I wasnt serious about the graphics thing. However it seems as though that will be the biggest factor as thats what everyone is boasting about.

X-Box has more power! Forza will be better.

PS2 is not as old as it looks! GT4 will be better.

Thats what I've been hearing.

Graphics are the main selling point for the game's right now since that's all we have, and it's important for the Forza and GT camp's to have highly polished screens for the public...
So graphics are the main judging points of both games, since only a limited ammount of people know what the physics are like in either game since not many have played the current build's.

Right now i've heard from Cobra that GT has gone "Hardcore" i'd love to play this version OPM magazine "claim" is so "Hardcore" i'm just be a little sceptical due to the source of information.

Doesn't GTR come out by the end of this year? Plus, the GTR 2002 was awesome!

The demo for GTR is excellent, and the Lister is a beast on the track! :)

Yeah i've been playing GTR with the lister and DFP and the force feedback from the DFP + Lister = intense *sweats* :nervous:

That's cool but OPM UK is very reliable in my opinion, they aren't misleading like opm.
 
Well, on the other hand, OPM UK wasn't that keen on hardcore physics of Richard Burns Rally.

Anyway, IMO neither GT4 nor Forza will go into hardcore sim as far as RBR and GTR did it.

I take it GT4 has no bad points you all seemed pretty quick to praise it and defend it when I never attacked it...... I'm just curious.... I want to make the right desision and also how you all respond will affect my desision because let's face it why would I want a game with a bad community... :)

Here's the run down for you. You said that no car damage and such was a bad aspect of GT4. Let me say this.

Forza Motorsport Promises "realistic" car damage at "200mph". If the car does not tear to pieces and stop running, then it is not realisitc, and no game has had this TO DATE, so IMO, it's best to leave it out, because it's only going to be retarded in the end.

The point of GT4 is not to smash up your car, it's to race and find the shortest line...and win. If it was to hit walls and suck at driving, I'm sure they'd add car damage, but it's nothing but a joke.

Forza Motorsport also has a smaller car selection, and looks no where near as good as GT4, the game lacks the realism that GT4 presents, I think this is on behalf of the programming methods used for XBOX, they are fiarly simple.

As far as the "car flipping", again, this is only a novelty to show off the "muscle" of the XBOX, yet it still has no brains behind it.

And there is no way that Forza can compete with the EXTENSIVE research done by polyphony to create this game. For what, 8 years? Think of the time and attention each car record has gotten, the attention to detail. Forza Motorsport is going to be an "attempt" by microsoft, but given what Polyphony has done, and is capable of, they will surely topple the competition. If I get a preview build I will let you all know.

GTR is THE driving sim of the year, no questions it's spot on, theres no way the PS2 can get better than spot on, especially when GTR on the PC gets help from much more powerful CPU's and much more memory. Theres no point even trying to argue that GT4 will be as close to real as GTR in the handling, theres no way it will, sure it might get close, hence the GT4 has gone hardcore, if it has then great but theres no way GT4 will beat it for realism.

You do understand that Polyphony has piled data on data for each car, their research is far deeper than any other racing sim out there. 8 years worth of research on 500+cars (because some cars have made reappearances) and about three on most of the others, not to mention their previous knowledge of physics, I REALLY don't think CPU speed etc is going to be the determining factor in which game handles better, because Polyphony has the tracks and cars down to a "T" so to speak. I don't think either of these games will be a threat...especially given the unstability of a PC with all of the different variables, I don't see it being an enjoyable experience for the technologically challanged (those who download much)...I'll stick with GT4, because I know it's a surefire winner.
 
As I said, GTR is THE sim of the year, it's far more realistic than ANY console game ever, including GT4:P which is the most realistic game so far. GTR has used real data from the real cars just like in GT4, but it's also done far more with the fewer cars it has than KY has done with the 500+ cars in GT4. GT4 will be the better game and it wil be realistic I hope, since GT3 wasn't but it won't be as realistic as GTR is and has proven it is, the cars driven by real race drivers are performing the same lap times as in real life, but on every track and in every car tested and theres been plenty of testing, I stick to my original statment, as good as GT4 will be it won't beat GTR for realism.

Forza will include levels of realstic damage from No Damage to Simulation damage to judge this aspect of the game when not too much is known about it other than what i've stated is rather silly

I do not dispute the fact that racing is to find the shortest line around the track, i'd also add it's also the Racer's job to ensure it's the safe for himself and other's and pushing the car too hard to find that perfect racing line, will result in crashes GT4 online will suffer if they do not come up with a better solution to reckless driving.
Car damage is a long term risk you must concider in Toca 2 Race Driver damage make's me concider pushing the car too hard and if Forza is full sim damage it will make me a better racer, in my opinion.

Yes Forza has a smaller car selection they also have Ferrari and Porsche both of these manfacturers have proven racing pedigree's unlike the 50hp unknown crap GT4 has.

Forza has 200+ and also has Ferrari and Porsche and all the best car's GT4 has

GT4 has 500+ cars plenty of variety but alot of stuff no one will drive

Flipping car's is hardly new and hardly shows of the "muscle" of the XBox simple fact is flipping car's in GT4 would be stupid without the damage it just so happens Forza has damage and it kinda makes sense yeah the car's will flip.

Forza is big budget never forget that Microsoft has pumped alot of money into this game and saying Polyphony just because there Polyphony will topple the compo is highly naive and stupid, PD are not god's there talented developers, I wonder what the people who thought Nintendo and Sega was untouchable think today.

Nintendo and Sega were god's until Sony came along and recently Microsoft.

Never say somthing lasts forever because it simply doe's not :nervous:
 
You dont know if gt4 wont have ferrari, lambo, or porsche. You always knock the gt4 car list but have you just sat and thought about how many race cars gt4 will have? I'm sure gt4 will have more racers than forza and that's why I love the amount of cars gt4 will have.

Dude until PD say's yeah we have ferrari and Porsche I am not going to sit here and assume that it will, seriously I doubt they will be in GT4 all the speculation in the world wont change the fact right now PD doe's not have either licence until i'm proved wrong i'll go with what the fact's tell me :)

Damage in a sim is better than no damage in a sim, what I don't get though is why all you anti-Forza people say that it's OPTIONAL damage is a downside to the game. If ou want it have it, if not don't. Come back with a decent argument against Forza, even Cobra will say optional damage is better than no damage.

Damage is important it has long term effects on your vehicle throughout a race, the last thing you want in an online race is everyone to hammer into the 1st corner aiming for an easy first position early in the race I have no doubt this is how you race...

But my friend that simpily is not racing...

Saftey is key to racing, Saftey to others and saftey to yourself anything but and your short changing yourself and others to a great racing experiance.
 
Damage is important for a sim that's one thing I dont like about the gt series but hey, I can wait for the nex gen gt. But damn, we'll might have real damage with the ps4, and notice I said "might." It's gonna take some time before we get real damage. Since gt4 doesnt have damage, what about internal damage? Like if I hit a wall like a fool, parts inside would be damage and you would notice it, even tho it's not noticeable.

Whats the big deal about damage anyway, IMO Vice City has better damage simulation, as the cars eventually catch fire and you can see the flats etc. But no one would call VC a driving sim...just a wicked kick a$s game :)
 
I'm not a "anti-Forza" person , I just wouldn't like the damage effects in GT4 ;)
Just look at the cars , it doesn't get dirty after a rally race :eek: How wowuld it be possible to make damage effects in GT4 then?

The could make the cars get dirty, they just haven't, besides you could do both. But like KY said, the PS2 just isn't capable of doing the damage at the level he would want it.
