Just to see what everybody thinks about GT5 now its been fixed about 3 weeks ago now.
Do you think GT5 is actually better without the stupid Hybrids or do yoh think its been ruined by the patch?

The sense of loss is awful. The stuff that folks complained about most (the uber powered cars) still exists in the unlimited rooms. While the modding, which achieved the goals of rejuvenation that PD attempted with 2.10, was killed.

There were many people who came back to the franchise because of the modding. There was a buzz. There was discussion online (in game and in forums) about how to achieve certain results. In the 3 weeks since, the game is far more bland than it has ever been. it's not that it's worse, but a feature was removed.

In 2.11, I would see a car like a beetle or an FR-S in a 550 room and I'd wonder how that guy will do. Most times, it was fun competition. I only saw one ridiculous car and it was uncontrollable. Now, if I see that same scenario, the car is either out of it's element with an inexperienced player OR it's a griefer.

The passion is gone. Among my online friends, even those who opposed modding are feeling the affects. They were hell bent on beating the mod cars. It gave them purpose. Now, it's just lapping. The love is gone. I've gone back and forth between 2.11 and 2.12 five times since the patch. I'm trying to regain that sense of purpose but it's a futile attempt.

For those who are die hards and stand by the "go away if you're bored" arguement, consider the 2.10 patch. If the data wasn't showing a decline in activity, there would never have been an attempt by PD to shake things up. Hopefully...HOPEFULLY...they make things right by introducing a sanctioned modding feature.

Think of it this way. The game has 1000+ cars. Modding allowed for +/- 90% of those cars to be worthwhile. Without modding +/- 20% of those cars are worthwhile. If it were sanctioned properly, the events would be epic.

PD made a game way better then GT5, they just hid it in GT5 and restrict customers from being able to play it. They seem to get off trying to control how the game is played as if us buying it is not enough, they only want it played the way they want, PD has lost touch with the core fan base that made the GT series what it is....... Ill be honest, I think Kaz is off his rocker, hes a OCD case of eccentric nuttiness. He seems more scare to make a change to his masterpiece then anything. Why the heck are the tittles taking so long between releases? Because Kaz is like a woman shopping for laundry detergent, can't make up his mind on Jasmine or Lemon fresh, while the guy waiting is like "just take one!!!!!" GT5 is so GT4 the gap between games is NOT justified.

I am part of the reason GT is a household name....

I usually don't quote long texts but this, this, THIS just nails the point. Exactly my opinion, exactly how I feel.

I actually hesistate from going on GT5 now since either online or hybrids leave a huge lack in the game for me. I've been seriously spoiled to a point where playing without the newly found 'features', I'd call them possibilities myself, feels just empty, dull and stupid. My personally made cars, my hybrids, are such a major part of the enjoyment I get out of the game, while online play is the only gameplay that attracts me since I chill and cruise a lot with friends where my car matters a lot to me, that I cannot play the game without either.

So right now all I can do is hope that PD will invert their current patch by allowing the 'legit' hybriding (such as part swaps) and fix the stupid exploits that they paid no attention to (such as hidden tuning parts that aren't shown or incorrectly add up to the car's PP). Another really small hope that I'm left with is that a working patch blocker will be available again, as the last one that worked was fixed by Sony in January so right now only people with jailbroken PS3 can play online on older update versions of games.

You want a give people a reason to be legit that outweighs their reasons to break the rules.

All they've done is create more reasons for people to jailbreak a PS3. I've looked into it. I never cared before. Loss aversion is an under appreciated motivator and modders who upgraded have suffered a great loss.

Textbook case on how not to handle this situation. What's worse, there is a wealth of knowledge on how to deal with online communities.

Judging by the fact that I haven't even fired up GT5 since just before the patch, I'd say no.

If yah stopped playing before the patch, how much do you know about the after effects of the patch from personal experience? Judging by the fact that you haven't even fired up GT5 since before the patch, I'd say you don't know anything about the effects the patch has had...

How many hybrid threads are you going to create? There are plenty of existing threads that have similar discussions going on.

Maybe one of the effects is me not wanting to play since I refuse to update and can't play online? Think before you post, just made yourself look stupid.

Maybe learn to speak. You said you had stopped playing right before the patch indicating the patch had nothing to do with you not playing anymore AS you stopped BEFORE the patch ;), and not that you stopped playing because of it ;) Think before you post, just made yourself look stupid...

Honestly.

As of have said before, with or without hybrids I will still play.

Sure I will miss having engine swaps (which is all I did). I was amazed on how the cars felt lighter or heavier though the wheel when you didn't engine swap.

Honestly I don't think it ruined GT5 at all. It just showed part and how easy it would be to include engine swaps. I knew it was going to be patched. It was just a matter of time before it was. I am still playing today and I do enjoy it still.

So it would be cool to have at least swaps back, but that's probably not going to happen, which I am cool with.

Yeah, like 2 days before. I usually only play 1-2 times a week. SO, the patch coming out DID stop me from playing, therefor it DID have an effect afterwords. Maybe that's too hard to you to comprehend. :dunce:

Not hard to comprehend, just I don't see that in...

Learn to speak, don't tell me I look stupid for not understanding something you failed to write.... I understood...

It don't matter if it was 2 days, 10 days, or 10 minutes, fact o matter is as you said, you stopped playing BEFORE the patch :dunce: not because of it :dunce: duh, if you meant something different, next time say what you mean ;) instead you just come out the :dunce:

Jokes...

That means you stopped playing BEFORE the patch lol not because of it ;)

Some people don't play right before a maintenance period, known/possible update that would/could come. Some people I know don't play around the time of one of these periods. Reasons could vary from bad experiences with updates (like system failures), in this case fear of getting banned.

Not that hard to suspect a update is coming. I told many of my friends there day before this update came out. I said if they are going to patch hybrids they will be doing it in this maintenance period. Sure enough I was right. Some of them including me do not play around the time of a maintenance period. Wait and see if there are problems with the update (like the people having problems with the loading loop, GT5 slowing, Garage loading problems).

So, just saying that us very possible. Nothing stupid about it

I do the very same, never update until I hear how its been received by those who jump on them right away. Don't really see how that applies here, I have not called him stupid for being reserved before updating. I say he looks stupid for saying I look stupid for not seeing what wasn't written.

Wow. Now we have 2 guys who liked to make hybrids pointlessly arguing about what I don't even know.
