Ive checked 3 major retailers in my area (Bestbuy, Gamestop (EB), and Futureshop) and none of them have even heard one bit about the collector edition yet.

Hopefully they can update themselves, Then I can go actually upgrade..

Anyone think the extra 40-50 dollars is worth the collectors?? I mean sure, its PD, I would love to support them, but... 100 is quite a bit, I was thinking somewhere around 80 when the rumors of a collectors edition first arose..

Do want, I'm not quite sure when it will be available, but I hope I can put my fingers on one copy. :nervous:

Considering the game would probably cost $60 by itself, add in the Diecast and the 300+ page book, yeah it's worth the $100.

If I can sell the diecast for any decent money, I'll probably get it. I'd like the book. The diecast will just take up space.

Considering november isn't too far away from christmas, I could probably get it without too much remorse for it.. I thought, I could either buy this, or for that extra money, I could buy a whole other game...

I already have a pre-order from bestbuy, I think If they start doing collector pre-orders, I will also preorder one of those, and I can make my decision at the end (Taking in mind I am able to return pre-order vouchers at any time, Which I am)

Do any of you think the special edition cars will be made available to everyone after a period of time like the pre-order special livery cars we made available on PSN for the PSP Gran Trurismo?

Here's the special SLS you get when you pre-order through Amazon. Seems to me you get this one car if you pre-order the regular version, not the collectors edition. I could be wrong though.

I'm definitely going to get the collector's edition. 100 bucks? I've waited almost 6 years, I think I'm gonna splurge on this.

There is a distinction between the Collector's edition cars and the pre-order cars.

Gran Turismo doesn’t cut corners, and neither does this Collector’s Edition. It’s packed full of must-have items that were picked and designed for true car lovers... a voucher for five (5) DLC cars, and a numbered certificate of authenticity

The Collector's edition comes with a voucher for 5 DLC cars. So first off, this is confirmation that GT5 will have DLC. All it will mean is, you get download 5 of them for free with the voucher you get with the game. At least that is how I interpret it, the article did not state whether these cars would be exclusive to Collectors edition owners, or if they would be available as regular DLC, but given free in exchange for the voucher that CE owners get with the game.

This is from a different part of the article:

The exciting pre-order program for Gran Turismo 5 offers exclusive and beautiful in-game cars as bonuses, including the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Nissan GT-R GT500, McLaren F1, and more. Each car features an exclusive and stylish Gran Turismo-themed “stealth” livery custom-designed by Polyphony Digital, with select performance upgrades over the standard versions of the cars available in the game. Pre-orders offers will be coming soon at participating retailers for both the standard and Collector’s Edition versions.

If you pre-order the game (Regular or CE) you will recieve an exclusive car pack, with 'Stealth livery' tuned cars. These are for the pre-order, whereas the others are for the Collector's edition only.

If you want the Collector's edition though, You're probably going to have to pre-order, so you'll end up with both. But don't worry if you don't want to pay out for the collector's edition, you can still get the exclusive pre-order cars with the standard game (Providing you pre-order it, from a well known or 'participating' retailer...).

For the people who are going to Gamestop now and tomorrow, I recently called them and said there is no SKU for CE preorders and said by Friday they should have it. Soo call before you go so you don't waste your time and gas :]

So does this mean the 3 box set was actually made up of one game box and two books?

Nope, but I'm getting it. The die cast is maybe $20 and then another $20 for the book and key chain. Actually sounds about right.

No it means the 3 box set was just an idea and everyone took it as something more.

Yes, thats what everyone was saying all along, because there was clearly only one Blu-ray box. You took a while to catch on.

It also seems I was wrong about the pre-order cars. It appears as though, the pre-order cars are exclusive to different retailers. For example, the stealth livery SLS AMG is exclusive to Amazon. Other retailers (At least in the UK, not sure about Gamestop and the like) haven't put anything up yet so i'm not sure.

So it does matter where you make your pre-order, apparently.

Good thing I didn't pre-order the game earlier, saves me the hassle now. :p

Same. At least we can be sure we're getting the collector's edition, and we are almost certain when the game will be released. Sony did say a while back, the next release date will be certain, hence why they waited so long to make an announcement.

Also, if different retailers do have exclusive cars, Then I will be able to pick which one I want

In the end it probably won't matter since you'll be able to buy the regular car and upgrade it to "pre-order" status. Even if the stealth paintjobs are exclusive and not available in game, doesn't make much of a difference.

can someone find somewhere to pre-order this? i've looked at loads of sites and can't find diddly.

Just give it some time, it was only a matter of hours ago that they said the release date and all the details etc, i just hope we actually get the CE here in NZ

It seems to be a rather expensive package but for me whether its reasonable or not comes down to who makes the 1:43 model. If its going to be Minichamps, Autoart or even Spark level of quality then yeah its worth it but if its some cheap rubbish like the ones you get at supermarkets or in monthly collectors magazines for like $10-15 then no its probably not worth it.

Also is the car individually numbered or just the boxed package? I think it will be OK to splurge on this as its my first collectors edition purchase.

Robin.

It's made by Kyosho, which is even better then those brands you mentioned IMO! 👍

Instant Purchase!... Provided the UK price isnt extortionate, Thanks for the info Antti-san!

Yea Kyosho is pretty top shelf, 1:43's are at least $40. I'm down for the collectors edition for sure, will be calling gamestop every couple hours til its "in their system." A stealth Big Mac??? That probably sold me, but all the other stuff is must have.

Yikes, if this is any indicator GT5 CE is a deal...
