The only difference is that they get a wallet (to put what little money they have left after buying the whole darn package), a tin box, and an SLS, instead of a GTR diecast.

Anyway, one last question (also posted in comments). Can I pre order the normal GT5 and still get a stealth model? Or do I have to get the collectors edition?

We also get all the stealth cars, coffee book, and usb drive.

Any edition you get will get you a pre-order car. Just look at whatever site you're ordering from and it will say what you're getting.

Yes, you get a tin case, a wallet, USB key, and 5 stealth cars on top of the things the $100 US CE gets. All that for a price of $240US + shipping. So $140 extra for a $5 wallet, a $10 usb stick and a $10 black cookie tin box without the cookies.

Don't forget the 300 page coffee table book. That's what I'm after. Hope it's as good as the GT4 one.
 
Amazon.uk has nothing on preorders cars in the CE!!! till now...

I just don't understand that amazon.fr has all editions with preorders. amazon.de has only the normal edition. And Uk hasn't the SE.
???
 
Yeah, I'm wondering about that too. I'll just wait for a few days before ordering the signature edition somewhere else and canceling my US pre-order.

Hmm but isn't everything with a brand like that nowadays? I mean, you can get a 5$ T-shirt or................ you can get a 50$ T-shirt because there's an icon on it.
 
I heard from a colleague who's in charge of an online store that in Germany the law states something about getting permission to charge a credit card to expire after 60 days. As I understood him, if he offers something as a pre-order but won't be able to deliver any goods in 60 days, he has to ask permission again to charge the credit card once the good is available.

If that's the case then that might be the reason why the game isn't on pre-order, yet, at amazon.de.
 
I'm genuinely curious about this coffee-table book, but the package still doesn't justify double the cash outlay it's costing me for my pre-ordered North American CE. A USB stick is worth very little these days, the case wouldn't get used, I know I wouldn't win the SLS contest... and I question the quality of the wallet.

Best-case scenario, the coffee-table book is something I can pretty much remake with my own Photomode travels, which I'm sure I'll have enough material for in a handful of weeks :D.
 
Anyone think the coffee table book will be available for purchase separately, perhaps later on?
 
I've preordered the SE and CE, however i want to know the exact figure for the amount of SE's available.. If it is not of high rarity i will cancel my order, if it is small small numbers i shall get it.

Any way of actually finding the production number out ? or anyone seen a figure banded about?

It's getting a bit unclear, isn't it? Some news sites mention it as a 300 page car guide, but maybe they're confused too, or just stupid. There's not much info in the official press release. It wouldn't be the first time where a collector's edition gets a 10 page 'artbook' whereas at the same time you could get a proper book for 20 bucks. This happened with Assassin's Creed, for example.
 
On the left is the 300 page book featuring driving tips, history of the automobile, etc. and on the right is the coffee book.

What's Leo Hartas doing these days? there's a market for a new book :D

Well the reason it's small is because it's all pictures I believe.
 
OMG! It AS all over again! For a fraction of the price you can create a proper edition. Leather bound too. Looking at the publisher they've got a lot of good books including Uncharted 2 and God of War. There are some video reviews on Amazon.com.

Thanks for the info. I think I just go for the regular edition now :)

Thats true but in all fairness the book in the SE is the Leatherbound. Plus there is no confirmation that this is the same book at all.

What is more important to the SE is the amount of copies available, this number needs releasing. The rarity of this is key to its success.
 
Yeah, for clarification, I in no way think this Amazon offering is the same as the SE one. I'm curious as to what they both have in them, though chances are the SE will offer more on the sheer basis of being directly from PD.

That said, if it's nothing but pictures we can take in-game, I hardly see the point.
 
Yeah, but I'm not a collector. Most of the time I'm only interested in artwork and background info. I'm sure those are not the same books, though. I hope we get some more info soon.
 
O.K I've decided im cancelling my SE preorder.. However should a number of the quantity come out i will reconsider this. I refuse to pay £150 for an item which still may not actually hold any exclusivity bar its price tag.
 
Why does play.com uk say the release date is 26-11-10??

Can anybody ask/email/phone play.com if the collector's edition has the 2 stealth cars with it as standard has the 2 stealth cars, please???
